This place is amazing, working in the area and stopped in for lunch. We were greeted right away once we walked in and it made us really feel welcome. He went over the menu with us and explained everything that was there, showed us the special and we ordered. The food is AMAZING!!!! The portions are great as well. We sat outside and ate but the inside was very well maintained and clean. Definitely going to come back here and make it regular stop in the future. I have always loved Zpizza. I'm pretty sure this was my first time at this location and it was quite positive. First off, they have great outdoor seating, which is perfect for a sunny, summer day. Also, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The only thing that was less appealing was how HOT the inside of the restaurant was. I feel bad for the works. I wonder if the AC wasn't working? Story time: about 5 years ago when I was just dating my wife, I had to help her with a work event at the balboa bay resort (she worked a 501C3 non profit organization) It was a big fancy awards night, with very wealthy high profile people, were all dressed up in suits and dresses.....the works. Now at the end of the night everyone who was working the event got the chance to hangout and we killed multiple bottles of wine and spirits that were left over (no we were not hotel staff). So long story short we all went back to our various hotel rooms and got absolutely WASTED, well the only problem was that there wasn't any food left over......and as you can imagine after a great night of drinking and dressed to the nines you'd need food to soak up all that alcohol. Well I started to get very queasy and said to my wife then girlfriend " babe I need F'ING food like now!" And so we ordered Z PIZZA AT 2am! And ya know what THEY DELIVERED IT TO THE ROOM! I was naked in the bath tub of our hotel room vomiting up all that wine and then a literal angel of the LORD appeared and it was a large pepperoni pizza..........THIS PIZZA BROUGHT ME BACK TO LIFE! I was in the shadow real and the Z turned on the lights. The owner is very rude. Very disappointed with my experience as my first time walking into this establishment. The service was very unprofessional. There is a reason why the place is empty at 1 pm on a Friday afternoon. I wouldn't recommend this place based on what I encountered. There's a good amount of parking during non-busy hours/weekdays, and it's easily walkable right across from Lido Village. The interior isn't terribly large, but there are probably seven tables, as well as additional seating on the patio in the courtyard that backs up to Bear Flag. They had a lunch combo deal with a pick two option for a couple of slices + a salad or sandwich. I ended up going with the sausage & mushroom pizza, and my friend ordered the spinach & tomato. Everything tasted great - the slices seemed pretty fresh and were warm. We're also two somewhat gluten free people, but the pizza didn't really bother either one of us! I'm not sure if that speaks to the quality of ingredients or not, but I'll take that as a bonus. The service was quick and friendly. I didn't catch his name, but we were helped by who I assumed to be either the manager or owner. He gave us a couple free cookies at the end of our meal, which was a nice touch! I used to work across the street and stop by for a slice every other Friday (I'm trying to manage my pizza addiction). There are other nicer pizza places but are overpriced. Since the pandemic, I've only ordered in on the Balboa Peninsula. A couple of times I have encountered someone rude who has made me feel guilty for calling in, but I chalk it up to busy nights like Friday or Saturday and try to be understanding because we've all been there. Stumbled upon Zpizza after looking for a quick snack and I am so happy that I came here. I ordered a slice of their cheese pizza and they were nice enough to throw it into the oven for a couple minutes so that it was nice and crispy. The pizza itself was delicious. Crispy, cheesy, and not overly greasy. It hit the spot and was exactly what I was craving. Although the pizza was good, it was the service that really blew me away. Victor and the rest of the staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. He gave us free chocolate chip cookies to "apologize for the mess inside" but I thought that the inside was perfectly clean. He checked on us often and really made our experience at Zpizza great.
