If they are NOT busy, service and food are good. If you see they are busy, go somewhere else. You will have to wait for a table and for your food. Cold french fries are not fun and forget about refills (even for water) read more

We ended up here after an evening of shopping for the hubs. Okay, I had one return at Crocs. The place was busy but not packed. We were seated quickly. First, I love the old school feel of this place, down to the gas pump. Pretty neat. The location is huge, so there's plenty of seating. They are adequately staffed, so we had relatively no wait at all. You gotta love that. The hubs ordered a bacon cheeseburger and I ordered a patty melt - but I think my waitress thought she heard me say "tuna melt' because that's what I got. Bummer. BUT - I did ask for avocado on top so that made up for the mistake because the tuna melt was bomb. The tuna itself was made well. The bread was crispy and buttery and the added avocado put it over the top. The hubs burger was good - not great, but good. We both had fries, but I had garlic fries because DUH, garlic fries are the shiz! I really enjoyed those fries. Really tasty. Hubs got a strawberry shake (he said it was the best shake he's ever had - thick and rich). I had a mini sundae with hot fudge and caramel - super good and decadent. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit here and would return. read more

I came here after shopping at the outlets. The menu was pretty basic, nothing really stood out to me. I played it safe by ordering a cobb salad. I am a very picky person on how I like my salad made and it came to the table exactly how I wanted it. Perfect! The ranch dressing was delicious! Our waitress was friendly and the bathroom was clean. The bathroom has separate bathrooms inside with doors the floor so I appreciated that. I will try again. read more

Ruby's Diner - Cobb salad with no olives and blue cheese crumbles but add cheddar cheese with extra ranch. Yasssssss ;) Perfect - Diners Near Me - Commerce, California

Not the best service and I started to feel I'll after eating here. They messed up my boyfriends burger twice and never asked him how he wanted his burger cooked. His burger ended up coming out super rare. Milk shakes are very mediocre here and I throw up my milk shake after an hour of eating here. read more

Was out shopping this Sunday with a friend decided to stop at Rubys and grab a bite to eat we were there for five minutes before food actually arrived at our table we realized that was a problem we weren't even sitting for five minutes before the food actually arrived the chicken tender dinner was a joke they were rock solid you couldn't even bite into it without breaking a tooth the french fries that I bite into were frozen in the middle the hamburger was frozen in the middle we knew that this was going to be an issue because we weren't there long enough for them to even make the food clearly this was left over food or frozen food . When we called the waitress over said we were done with our meal not even finishing half of it she asked if we had a problem with it and we told her and she said oh I'm sorry and said here's your bill at that point we spoke to management which didn't seem to take it very seriously herself .I grew up on Rubys and their standards have dropped clearly Don't waste your time thinking that Rubys is going to be better than the food court across the way because it is not! read more

I would give this place a solid 3.5 stars. It was actually better than I expected. True, the decor/concept of this chain is a little cheesy, but this is a nice place to grab a bite when you're out shopping at the Citadel Outlet. I had a turkey burger which was pretty good, not dry like many restaurants that you go to. Wasn't really a fan of the fries.....My waitress was very nice and provided good service even though it was the lunch rush. read more

The place was pretty busy but, the service took quite a bit of time to get a server to our table. Food was OK nothing too off the path it's a diner menu. Tried it once but probably never go back! read more

I came by earlier this week and wanted to check this oldies hamburger joint out. My girlfriend and I went after a quick run of shopping. As I was checking out the menu, what was most advertised was the sliders. The all American Kobe sliders looked great!! I wanted to get them but wanted to try out a burger instead. The avocado burger was of my choice and it was delicious. Although the burger reminded me of fatburger without the "soul", it still competes as a good burger. I am willing to come back to Ruby's but probably not the Citadel location. (since it is waaay out of my area) Woodland hills seem to be the closer location, so one day I shall visit. read more

I have to say this place has the greatest chicken tenders I have ever had. The chicken tenders were so moist and juicy, I really didn't even need the dipping sauce that came with it. The sweet potato fries were also pretty good. The service was super friendly, and the staff even cleaned up a little accident our party had. The service could be a little slow during rush hours, but don't blame the waiters/waitresses, I think we were just there on an off day, those folks were working their hardest! read more

It's a diner located in Paramount/South Gate area near a bunch of outlet malls. I'm not sure if you're going there because you expect good diner food but I was there because I had a client meeting in the area and that was just one of the only places to get food at a sit-down. I ordered a burger and it wasn't half bad but definitely nothing to write home about. read more

it's a diner, so can't say I expect much. had the sliders, which were okay, nothing special. Also had a pot pie, which was fine. sweet potato fries were nice. It's not really worth what you pay, but then again, there's not a lot of choices here. our waitress was nice, but seemed hard to flag down most of the time, I think she was new, as she couldn't answer our questions much. Pretty decent place, but I've been to a lot of other diners with a lot more character and better food though. read more

I was at the citadel outlets for the first time. Back to school shopping like mostly everyone else there. My kids are very picky so we agreed I n trying this place. The food and service was great. They were pretty busy it was a Saturday so I didn't expect it to be empty but besides that we were seated within 5 minutes which amazed me. Then the waiter showed up as soon as we were seated to drop off the menus he gave us about 10 minutes and came back to take our drink order but since we were ready he took our entire order. We ordered a kids burger, a classic Ruby's burger and a mushroom swiss burger. All 3 where were delicious. They were cooked to perfection! I will be going back! read more

I like coming here for the unlimited fries with my burger and the shopping at the outlet. Recently, they changed their garlic fries and it was soggy. It use to be garlic placed on top of the fries but now it buttery garlic or garlic sauce. I requested for regular fries and and the garlic sauce on the side. All the burgers I've tried, they never disappointment me. Don't forget to bring some pennies for their penny gum ball machine on the hostess counter. read more

DO NOT COME HERE!!!! so unprofessional and all the employees had an attitude smh. it wasn't too busy yet it took 25 minutes for the waitress so ask us for drinks. there was also a dead cricket on the floor. read more

We stumbled onto this place after a LOOOONG drive in rush hour traffic. We stopped to visit the outlet shops, but needed something substantial to eat after a day at the beach and driving down I-10 and I-5. The patio was great to be seated on; inside, the AC was turned up quite a bit. Now, I know that patio diners can be a pain in some places, but our server was wonderful. In fact, after we sat outside, a number of other diners joined the patio. I knew what I wanted within the first 15 seconds of reading the menu, diet be damned! Cinnamon Roll French Toast. Yes, they are sliced into bread type slices, and battered and cooked like french toast. OOOhhhhh heaven! Never mind that the eggs I ordered over medium were over easy, or that the obviously reheated bacon wasn't the best, the cinnamon roll french toast squashed any other thoughts. Cinnamon Roll French Toast. That's all you need to know. Yummmmmm! read more

I was a little worried after reading all the reviews. So as I sat there, a bit nervous, all the previous reviews were blow away :] The server was quick and the food was really good. Nice and hot, he returned to ask if we needed anything. Pretty much as good as it gets :] read more

Absolutely horrible service. When we got seated it took awhile for the waiter to get to our table. He doesn't introduce himself or says hello and just asks what we want to drink. Okay, fine whatever. He brings the drinks and just leaves, doesn't even ask if we are ready to order, which we were. Ten minutes later he comes back to take our order. By this point we are already pissed. Food comes in and it is good. Your average diner food, I ordered fish and chips while my sister ordered the bacon cheeseburger. Food I would give an average 5. Waiter drops off the check, takes our plates and leaves. Doesn't even say anything. We are fuming at this point by how bad this guy is. He was nicer to the table behind us. After paying we start walking out. A guy is working and notices us walking to a door that is clearly locked but doesn't say anything to us but goes ahead and opens the unlocked door for the people behind us. Horrible experience at this place. We definitely left a bad survey for them. read more

Man, what is it with the restaurants in this area? Normally, I really like Ruby's. Back home in San Diego I go to the one in Mission Valley all the time and have never had anything to complain about. But a different story here... We arrived to a half empty diner and were told we had to wait a few minutes to be seated? Huh? We figured,"No biggie!" but little did we know that was a telltale sign of things to come. I ordered the "Fresh Roast Turkey Sandwich" which I normally get. It's one of my favorite turkey sandwiches period. When I got this one it tasted funny...not sure what it was...and there was a ton of lettuce in it. I ate half and left the other half uneaten. Normally, I devour this sandwich. But it tasted bleh! I don't know how you mess up a turkey sandwich. I mean, you don't really have to cook it after all. And it took like 25 minutes to get. 25 minutes to make a turkey sandwich for a partially filled restaurant? On top of that the service was pretty bad. Again, the restaurant was half full yet our service was on par with molasses. Because my co-worker and I were using our company cards we needed separate checks. It was our fault that we didn't say anything initially but when we remembered and told our waitress she looked upset and flustered. Almost as though it was going to take all night to figure out how to split a ticket for 2 people. Wow. On top of that she moved as though there was only 1 customer in the restaurant. Come to think of it, the entire staff moved ridiculously slow. For a half empty restaurant you'd think you'd get your food pretty fast. Not the case here. Our waitress did stop by to see how we were doing. But her saying,"How is everything?", was more rhetorical than anything else because before we could even reply she was walking off. Lovely. The shakes were still decent and the place looked nice and clean. But if I can help it...I'm not coming back here. read more

The food was great and the service was excellent. The server was really nice and attentive. I will definitely be back again for the strawberry banana milkshake! It was so good! read more

Located inside the Citadel Outlets. I appreciated the reserved parking for diners so you don't have to park far. Great decor and great to have the option to sit outside. I've been here during lunch and seated quickly. I usually order the hamburgers (had the avocado and the mushroom swiss) and they are delicious. I also love the sweet potato fries with a side of ranch. They have a yummy black cherry shake. Service is attentive and the food doesn't take long to be served. read more

Came in around maybe 2pm-ish for lunch. Service was nice and friendly. Decor and atmosphere was pretty cool and interesting. Food was okay. Nothing special about the burgers. I got the Mushroom Swiss. Chinese chicken salad was okay. Veggie pieces could have been chopped better. The food in general was filling, but it didn't tingle my taste buds. read more

Enjoyed my time here at Ruby's..me and my boyfriend ordered the classic cheeseburger with chilli fries, Strawberry lemonade and BLT-A (LOVE Avocado!!) Nothing to complain about, everything was delicious!! It took 5 min to seat us, not a huge wait. Plus we had our own area where it wasnt too crowded with other families surrounding us. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and took our order right away. In all, wonderful company (my bf), great food, and friendly customer service. read more

My husband and I went this Past Sunday with our two kids. The short version is that the service was sub par and the food was just ok. The wait was short because it was just before 5pm. When we were seated we asked the hostess for a high chair for our baby. 10 minutes later the server made it to our table to take our order. No one brought the high chair so we asked the server if SHE could get us a high chair. 10 more minutes later, my husband got up and searched the restaurant and he got the high chair himself. The food that we ordered was pretty good. It wasn't amazing but it was pretty good. However it was interesting when we ordered water with lime instead of lemon. The server said that was fine. The person who brought us the drinks said that they don't have limes. And a third person brought some lime wedges and said, "Is this what you're looking for?" I guess not too many people know what limes are. Or maybe it's just really odd to order lime... Everyone we interacted with was friendly but I think I just expected more. Honestly, because of its location we will probably go again. But not because the food and service, that's for sure. read more

We went during lunch time and it wasn't that packed nor empty. The food was good. We order chicken tenders as an appetizer and they were pretty good. They have great customer service good burgers. They have several kind of burgers. The place is clean and the decorations inside the place are very nice. After doing a little shopping its a good idea to go to this burger joint to have lunch. They have other foods other than burgers, but all their burgers on the menu look tasty. They have several kind of shakes. I got the peanut butter shake. It was good, but after a while I thought it was too sweet for me. read more

Waited a bit too long to be served in a nearly restaurant empty. The food was just okay. Probably would not come here again for breakfast. From Sacramento and it reminded me of a Mel's Diner, but not as good in my opinion. Had the breakfast Burrito with sausage, it was mostly egg and potatoes and didn't have much sausage. The egg and potatoes were pretty bland and dry. That was pretty much eat, no real interaction with the waitress. It was a neat looking place though, I have to give them that. Its an old fashion drive thru themed resturant. read more

Ruby's is a favorite of mine whenever I meander into downtown Palm Springs, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the service and food here equally great. Our hostess greeted us, sat us promptly after recommending the outside for a cooler seating area, and it only got better from there. Our server was attentive and professional without being overbearing, and the food came out fairly quickly, with all the right sides, add-ons and changes. Sounds like a regular, as-it-should-be visit right? Well, based on the hipster bougie restaurants popping up with staff that are more interested in discussing their tattoos with each other than helping me decide on a menu item, I appreciate what Ruby's stands for and am amazed they keep their service and food consistently good across multiple locations. Job well done; I will return. read more

I got the garden scramble (eggs, mushroom, peppers, onions, spinach) for the price it was a huge portion of eggs and unseasoned cubes of potatoes. At least I could tell the eggs and veggies were real and not out of a can but that didn't make it tasty. I had to add a bunch of hot sauce and salsa to give it any flavor. The service was nice but not worth going back again. read more

It's everything you would expect from a chain-50's restaraunt. The cheese burgers are seriously good. I just tried the All American Kobe Burger, I can't find that creamy/fatty flavor of the Kobe meat. UPDATE: They added new Kobe burger items! I can't wait to try their Kobe Cheeseburgers! read more

Im quite surprised that there arent more 5 star ratings for this place, I was drawn to this place on a road trip home from LA and wanted to stop in and do some outlet shopping, we stopped in at rubys and i thought the restaurant was absoloutly adorable! the fifties theme and the waitresses uniforms were great, but the food was fantastic, like so fantastic that I couldnt shovel it into my face fast enough and i ended up biting my lip GOOD! I had the jalepeno cheese bite, which I ate all by myself since my husband doesnt like spicy foods! so more for me!! and the mediterrian burger, it had some kind of garlic mayo and man was it good. My only complaint is that they dont have a rubys diner in the bay area!!! read more

I'm a big fan of Ruby's Diner. I've gone to multiple locations and since moving, this is the closest one to my house. At first, I wasn't so sure about this location since it's right in Citadel - parking would be horrible, or so I thought. It turns out there have parking spots reserved just for Ruby's, so no problem there! However, this one is filled with little kids most of the time so it can get loud - I would say more so than some of the other locations (Redondo Beach, Irvine, etc). I've ordered a variety of the food - the aloha burger used to be my all time favorite but I've branched out into other burgers. The patty melt is delicious if you order it on sourdough parmesan bread (also adding lettuce helps give it a little crunch which is nice). Actually, all the burgers are good on sourdough parmesan bread so try it if you haven't yet. It gives it more of a sandwich than burger feel though. The portobello provelone and BBQ chedder burgers are also good but they used to be better when Ruby's was using Kobe beef. Two things that never change for me - I always order the garlic fries (just make sure you have gum) and the chocolate turtle shake. The shakes are pretty big though (and chock full of calories), so it's usually a good idea to split between two people. They will split it for you if you ask although sometimes I find that they might give you less than usual when you ask for it that way. Overall, this is a decent Ruby's location. It's not my favorite but it's a nice place to stop for a bite if you're shopping in Citadel. read more

I love Ruby's, the food is great but this is by far the worst location I've had. They have their own parking which is only 60 min and the waitresses take forever. There is nothing worse than a waitress taking 30 min to serve you and to have the order wrong. Customer service is blah, but the food is great. I would probably go on a slow day! read more

Poor service. We were seated and waited for a good ten minutes before being approached by our waiter. Water wasn't served until we specifically requested it. We had trash on the table collected at the edge, and the waiter came by four times without taking care of it. Service was slow despite seeming to have an army of staff available, standing around. My wife and I came to the Citadel Outlets to take care of some errands when hunger set in. We were not in the mood to go to the Food Court, and didn't want to go down the Street to Carl's Jr. just for a burger so we decided on Ruby's.
