We've passed by this Ruby's a couple of times, each time wishing we would stop by. We have nostalgic memories of Ruby's so when we see one we're immediately drawn to it. One day we decided to stop by the Citadel outlets, primarily to eat here (priorities!). There's plenty of parking at the outlets but be prepared to walk a bit. Walking up we were initially confused where to go as there's an order window right next to a food truck. We approached the window and ordered burgers, fries, and a strawberry shake. We were directed to a shaded seating area around the corner with social distancing in mind. Our shake and food arrived fairly quickly. I had the bacon cheeseburger and our food came with plenty of ketchup and ranch. The burgers were how we remembered them to be - nice portions and very tasty. The shake is so good especially in the brutal heat we've been having lately! If you're in the area and want a tasty treat, go to Ruby's and grab a shake! We came in for hopefully a quick bite, but after seeing the waiting room full, we thought it would be a long wait. However, they told us only 15~20 and it ended up being less than 10. I was shocked! But no complaints at all. Service was great. I could tell our waiter was a bit stressed with all of the tables, but we had no problems with him and he did an amazing job (I really wish I remembered his name). He kept being apologetic to us but we just kept reassuring him that we had no complaints with his job/the wait times. Honestly, everything came out much faster than you'd expect from any other restaurant, even when they're slammed. Food was fresh and delicious. We ordered appetizers of the fried green beans and then 2 burgers. Everything came out around the same time which was great. Mainly because the green bean dipping sauces were delicious and I wanted to use them with the French fries as well. I got the bacon burger and my wife got the avocado burger both on wheat buns. They were juicy, yet not so much for that it destroyed the buns, and all the toppings paired perfectly. Honestly, they were great burgers. Usually at Ruby's I get the fish and chips. I'm glad I changed things up this time. We also grabbed a vanilla shake. We wanted a cookies & cream, but they said they were out for the night. Oh well. All these years and I finally tried Ruby's. Gotta love an old style diner. Cool red decor and a vintage metropolitan. Big fan of the candy stripe outfits. Quickly friendly service. This was my first time ever eating at this place. The man who greeted us was very welcoming. (He's short with black hair) The waiter is another story. (He's tall) My friend and I ordered burgers. The waiter kept coming to our table only every 2-5 minutes to ask if we need anything else, I was bothered and found this weird since there's more people for him to ask, not just us. This bothered me because I'm having a conversation, while trying to eat and repeat myself to the waiter, we're fine. He then placed a receipt at the table while I was eating. I felt uncomfortable and decided to leave. The burger was good but had too much mustard so I left it at the table. This my second time going to Citadel, the parking is crazy but I got lucky this Sunday afternoon.It was for my nieces 15th birthday, I was amazed how fast we got in for the size of the party we had. We sat on the balcony and it was a pretty day. Maribelle was a very proactive in serving all of us, she got the food out and a really timely manner. The food was just ok, I had chicken tenders and fries w/water. My other family members tried the hamburger or the meximelt. We all said it could've been a bit more seasoned food. This review is based on their new chili. It seems a couple of months back Ruby's change their chili. The old chili was very unique with a great flavor and shredded beef. The new chili is a generic Hormel style chili with ground beef. Our waitress, Brianna was great and very accommodating when we inquired about the change in chili. It was nice to see that the endless fries are still available in these crazy times. Other than the chili, which was a huge draw for me, everything else great. Nor'easterners, rejoice! This restaurant is a little retro place tucked into the Citadel Outlets. Styled to resemble a circa 1950's Diner, complete with a Nash Metropolitan car as you walk in. The place reminded me of the diners back east, the details, including signs, custom coffee urns and the wait/bus staff uniforms showed it. We were seated promptly and greeted by our waitress, Kim immediately. I got a coffee to go since I can't drink until 30 minutes after eating, we both ordered the Breakfast Grilled Cheese... a sourdough grilled cheese with 2 eggs over hard, bacon, avocado, and chiplote mayo, with a side of home fries. The food came out quickly, was nice and hot and tasted amazing! Fun fact: men use more ketchup on average then women... they brought me 2 small cups and my wife got 1, who knows this fact except this restaurant, and apparently my wife... ...back to the review, our waitress Kim was friendly through the entire visit, checked on us several times, brought our check and cashed us out promptly. I was so happy to find that this location is still open. Of course, like everywhere else right now it is take out only. I had previously tried getting a shake from the Ruby's in NoHo but their machine was broken. So we called this location and placed an order on the phone. They answered the phone right away and let us know the order would be ready in twenty to thirty minutes. The line to get into the mall parking area was insanely long so we were about 15 mins or longer picking up our food. When I walked in the dinner it took me immediately to a classic dinner but oldies style , I ate the classic burger with cheese and it was delicious.
