8/5/22 Back on 7/22/22 I check put this store for the first time. Thos place seems to be a family run business with people making different outfits by sewing machine or by hand. I have passed this places for well over 5 years if not longer and never had a reason to check this place out. Today day I did, but I did not see anything my wife es would wear. She dislikes wearing dresses and most skirts. Something I think she picked up from her mother. The craftsmanship looked outstanding to me. I noticed this designs were not cheap and one you buy them, there are NO REFUNDS. So in the words of The Grail Knight aka Robert Leadam Eddison "Choose, but choose wisely" the right dress will lead to happiness, the wrong dress will leave a large hole in your bank account...AND AN UNHAPPY WOMAN:( There were men's clothing, but none I found interesting. The jewelry accessories were nice, but they were mostly meant for women. I thought I would take my wife here to see something new, but now I don't know if she would be up for it. I will give it some thought and ask her. I know she has a thing for Asian clothing, thos might be a better choice. We will see. read more

Went in for alteration, needed my outfit to be taken back out to its original size. They made a big deal acting like I was too fat and it would possibly take weeks. (Again, the pieces just needed to be taken back out, to the size they were before, and I'm not overweight). It turned out to only take 2 or 3 days but they severely overcharged me. The skirt ended up falling apart AT the wedding I was attending and I had to hold it together with safety pins, which wasn't really enough for the heavily embroidered fabric. They were rude and were transparently overcharging me. I bought some jewelry I really love! But the quality is poor and not worth the price. read more

I am super grateful to have Ruby's in the area! This is a large boutique store for Indo-Pak clothes. We have been a number of times for special occasions. I love going down the stairs and being inundated by the huge room filled with colorful clothing, accessories, and household items. While I haven't found anything for myself, I loved shopping here for my daughters who looked stunningly adorable in multiple styles that we bought from here for an upcoming wedding. Their variety for kids is really great. For me, I had a hard time finding an outfit for myself, a lot of the options were Pakistani style or had very heavy work on it. Husband found a few great things he liked. I came here on a separate occasion to buy something for non-Indian friends and got some great accessories--the collection of bangles, jewelry, bags, and household items is very extensive and so there are lots to choose from, Ruby herself is very helpful and kind though she won't bargain with you! :) I will say prices are steep here and for clothing, the quality is very good. While we were there it was fun to see a group decide on a beautiful wedding lehenga on one of the floor models. I'm used to having a ton of stores like Ruby's on Devon Ave in Chicago and it's tough in the DMV area as there is no concentrated area of stores. So I am Grateful that Ruby's is here. I can not recommend this place and really upset with how they treated my wife, non Indian female. My parents got her a dress for our wedding. She went there to get the dress tailored. They made some adjustments. But Needed to do more work around the top part of the dress. They were too lazy or lacked the skill. They took advantage of my wife and said, the dress was supposed to look that way, even though everyone who saw it, could tell the top portion did not look right. My wife not knowing better took their word for it. When she showed my Indian family members, it was very apparent that the dress was messed up. They took advantage of someone who did not know the culture. I am really disappointed in them. We would have paid more to get the work done. We ended up going to INDUS SALON AND BOUTIQUE: they did the job! When Ruby's collection failed and deceived us. Buyer beware! Their clothes are the most expensive in the area. Avoid at all costs. I came across Ruby's Collection mostly by chance as I was getting a drink from the shop upstairs and decided to go down while I was waiting. I had purchased a number of lehengas in India for a wedding I was going to be attending in January and was very unsatisfied with the fits of some of the tops. I went down hoping to find a replacement top to wear with a dark green lehenga but after speaking to Ruby about my concerns with the top, she assured me that they could just alter the neckline and take in the sides of the top to make it fit more as I wanted. Even though I'd been told by other tailors to at altering the neckline would completely ruin the top, I decided to give it a shot and it came out absolutely perfect. Ruby told me that the square neckline I wanted wasn't necessarily a trendy cut but that she had no problems altering it that way if that's what I wanted which I thought was nice as some might have refused to do it. The alterations were a bit pricy, I believe I paid around $80 for adjusting the width and neckline of my top but honestly it was money extremely well-spent in my view as this was easily one of my favorite outfits I wore from the entire event thanks to Ruby's alterations! I also had a second lehenga top adjusted and while it still didn't fit perfectly (because the original tailor left no space in the sleeves so they were too short and tight but there was no fabric to take out), it definitely fit and looked infinitely better than the original. I would absolutely recommend Ruby's for any alteration needs!! read more

I cannot recommend Ruby's alteration service. Got a dress from India that needed chest pad inserts. Knowing our upcoming deadline, Ruby argued with me that it was a complex task to put it between the 2 layers, and that she would charge $30. Normally, this costs about $10-15 max. She repeatedly stated that it was going to be hard to do, so under duress, I paid $30. When I picked it up 3 days later, all she had done was a single running stitch on the inside of the garment. That pads we not between the 2 layers. If that's all she planned to do, she should have been honest about it and charged accordingly. Unprofessional- to say the least! read more

I have mixed feelings about the place. When ragz and I were getting married, I made several stops here. They were very helpful in getting my blouse from India altered and make it ready for me. Took a couple of fittings but it sat right eventually. One of my other outfits really had issues and they matched new lace with it and altered it such that it was actually wearable. Did I pay a premium for these alterations? Yes, I did! And I still look back and worry about how expensive it was. But I really needed to get these done for the wedding so I didn't have many options. In terms of their selection of ready to wear stuff, I'm always a little underwhelmed. The place is a little dingy, gloomy and dusty and I never get a happy feeling shopping here unfortunately. What makes matters worse is that they are grossly overpriced - simply because there are not very many amazing options for Indian dresses around the area. As a side note, I've now discovered the fun of Indian dress shopping in Atalanta and Houston and this place can't hold a light there. Anyways, the premium prices are simply a function of supply and demand in the area and not because their collection is awesome. I'm also a little terrified of the lady that runs this place tbh. All her tailors literally scuttle around when she calls and she seems a little bit of a tyrant. To me, she was overly sarcastic and kept making snide comments about my dresses that my mum sent from India, but I'm a trooper :) I just focused on getting the work done - which was just fine. Overall, I don't recommend this place for new stuff, but the seamstresses are good with alterations. In a pinch, I probably will end up using them again because of the ease of use. read more

I do not recommend this place for alterations. They are overpriced and do not do a good job. I got my Lehenga altered here and they charged me $90 dollars in total. It was still very loose and they did not do everything I asked for. And my blouse had a large stain on it from them. read more

I took a coworker who needed some shoes last minute. I called ahead and confirmed they carried his size (13) and when we got there we were shown a very reasonably sized collection. The store is located in the basement level and has a large selection, though it mainly caters to women. The only thing they do not carry according the shop owner is boys shoes. The prices are what you expect for an Indian clothing store in America. Yes, it's cheaper to buy directly from India/Pakistan but if you don't have that type of access than you'll pay similar to what everyone else charges. read more

The clothes are absolutely beautiful, and I have been able to find everything I need here for my wedding! The service is even better, and they truly care for their customers. I agree with some of the comments here. I came here last minute because I needed one of my dresses altered. They did a wonderful job and had it ready for me the next day. I also needed some jewelry to wear with my outfits so I asked to look around. The person was helpful but wasn't quite showing me what they had to offer and for a first timer at this shop it can be a bit overwhelming. The owner was making sarcastic remarks to me when I asked where the fitting room was and showed how my dress fit after they altered it (a compliment)...The prices are very high as well. Small business owners should know to treat clients with the best service because they can easily be replaced, instead of making snide/sarcastic comments which create an an unwelcoming environment. The owners should be ashamed of their staff. I went in get saree pre stitched and the woman working told me she could not help me. She would not even take a look at the saree just told me they are to busy. My issue is that I called 15 minutes prior to coming in and was told they could get it done by my timeline additionally I called the day before and was told the same thing by a gentleman. So two people over the phone said they could do it but as soon as I walked in I was not greeted and was immediately told after I asked that they could not help me. read more

Where to begin?? I came here in preparation for my friend's wedding. Why here you ask? Because I hear she is the best in the area when it comes to Indian attire. Actually the exact words were, she has "the market on lock." Shoppers beware- there's no sign for this place. The GPS will tell you "your destination is on the right" and you're looking like,where? I only see a building with windows and no signs. Luckily my friend gave me a landmark, which sounds funny but was absolutely true, "look for a white van with a bunch of Indian ladies on it." As I pulled up, BAM there was the van so I knew I was in the right place. You just have to know to park and walk down three flights of stairs to the store otherwise you'll be confused (talk about needing to be in the know) My shopping experience though--- phenomenal! Short version I went for a top to go with the saree. In 45 minutes she opened a top, pinned the areas for alterations, made said alterations, fitted me again for good measure and I walked out of the store ready to go. Now really...where can you go to get service like that? Whenever I go for alterations, even if its a quick hem, I always hear come back in a few days. Not at this place-that's worth some stars alone. Everyone there was very sweet which I really appreciated since I am not Indian and I don't have a clue about the attire. Everything in the store was beautiful, from wedding wear to casual wear, accessories to the kids outfits, the place has a great selection. If you need Indian attire, this place is great. Its convenient, right by Tyson's Mall. You just gotta look for the white van out front! read more

Ruby's Collection is delightful. A little too pricey though and having a sign that says "Final Price" doesn't make me want to buy clothing here. However, blouse stitching is great. Jewelry is fabulous too. Chooris everywhere. Plus, all the ladies that work there and the owner are fabulous. I bought my engagement outfit at Ruby's and spent well over $500. When I returned to pick up my outfit I asked for my measurements since they had tailored my outfit. The employee said they would charge $10 to give my measurements. She proceeded to speak to me in a rude tone. When I told them I did not understand why I had to pay when I had already spent so much, they proceeded to gossip to one another in their language. I reminded them that I just bought an outfit from them they acted as if they did not remember. These people do not care about their customers and are extremely rude. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. Professionalism matters! read more

I went to her store not to long ago and I read the reviews before going there. Long story short I got a really plain, cheap wedding dress from an Anti's basement because I found the man of my dreams and I just wanted to get married right away. I didn't have time to look for the perfect dress. But my Khala (Mom's sister) forbade me to wear my plain red Indian wedding dress and sent me a list of Indian Boutiques in my area. Ruby's was one of them. It was 12 days before my wedding and with us being on a tight budget, I wasn't expecting to find anything in her overpriced store. I was especially concerned for the one commenter on here that said, "She'll figure you out and not let you try on clothes you're not serious about buying." In all the other Indian boutiques I've ever visited, they are overjoyed and are very encouraging every time a customer wants to try on one of their dresses. And HOW IN THE WORLD are you supposed to know what looks good on you without trying it on first?? Every dress store will let you try on any dress you want, no commitments necessary. Anyway I kept my guard on because of this matter. Once we were there, we asked to see bridal attire and Ruby smiled and told us to have a seat on her sofa swing. She asked us which style we're looking for and started pulling out dresses from the plastic drawers. All of the styles she had seemed a little old-school / outdated Indian style for me. Although she explained that the newer designs sell fast. So I was a little unlucky. As soon as we asked for prices of her bridal collection we found out that they were all above 1K! Me and my mom almost fainted, and Ruby began to roll her eyes. I completely understand though, she just lifted 100 pounds of dresses covered in metal and plastic rhinestones and now she has to put them all back... She asked what's our budget, we said no more than $800. Then she said, "well none of these dresses are around that price." My mom mentioned we needed a wedding dress cause time was running short. Ruby said there are more dresses in the back. We looked in the back and I saw one for $1200 I was considering. I asked to try it on, and she said no, it's way out of your budget. Then I said, "If it fits right then we might buy it." She insisted that I can not try it on. I was a little offended, but my sis was with me at the time and said Ruby has the right to protect her assets because with every try, some rhinestones or beads might fall off or some thread might tear and the value will decline. I understood and looked around the store for about an hour till I found hidden all the way in the back, a darling peach floral with antique gold accents dress with really shiny rhinestones running down the center of it. I looked at the tag and saw $750! This time Ruby smiled and let me try it on, when I wore it, my mom and sister kept saying, "this dress is so you!" Ruby just had to make a few adjustments to the sleeves, waist and hip area. When we told her the wedding is in 12 days, she widened her eyes and looked a little overwhelmed, but said she'll try her best. thankfully, the dress was done 3 days before my wedding and it was the talk of the night when my special day finally came. My friends said, "Such a unique dress", "Interesting color combination", "It complements your skin tone", "Someone call Vogue!" It was just a dress to remember. I gave this place an "Ok" rating cause even though I was a little put off by the restriction from trying on dresses you're interested in, I understand why she does that and if you find the right dress, she'll give you great service along with it~ read more

When an outfit that I remotely liked had stains and the seems were coming out, I politely asked the lady (who seemed the owner of the boutique) to reduce the price due to the damage. She responded "we don't do that here and you can try removing it." I then asked her if she could take the stains out and she proceeded to say that it might damage the color. Well I'm sorry lady, you expect me to pay full price for a semi-decent outfit with damages and stains and on top of that, refuse to fix it? This is an overly priced mediocre boutique with sub par customer service. You ought to go elsewhere. read more

I'm only giving one star since there's no option for negative. I went there to look for bridal gowns and I liked one outfit. When I wanted try it on I was told that I can't because I didn't "look" like I was serious when I was actually serious enough to buy an outfit with them. In addition, she had mentioned that they have a large collection in the back but since she had me all figured out she refused to show it to me. That was extremely rude and offensive. They just lost a lot of business as I was willing to potentially purchase mehndi items and bridesmaids saris from there too.
