We chose this restaurant because of the nearness to the hotel my daughter and granddaughter were staying in. We decided to do takeout. Our order was ready and waiting at the time they specified it would be ready. That is the only positive comment I have. The rice in my meal was not freshly made. The vegetables were mushy. This area of Syracuse is mostly hotels, a few restaurants and large manufacturing sites. While Ruby Tuesday would never be on my list of favorite restaurants, in the group of local eating places in this area, it is one of the best choices. Can't tell you how happy I am that there is still a Ruby Tuesday's around the Syracuse area still. Kind of in the middle of nowhere, with no great way to get to it, but thankfully still here! They've must have cleaned up their act. The service was super as was the wine and Sam Adams. As I was debating between fish and a burger the meatloaf of all things grabbed my attention. Glad it did, well worth a try. We also had crab cakes which were surprisingly good. Not quite Boston good, but better than most chains. The salad bar was fresh and reasonably fresh. Sat at bar to have drinks and apps. Bartender finally acknowledged us after 10 mins and when she did was very rude and curt. We got drinks finally and didn't hear back from her at all. She didn't even come over to ask for our order. After 35 minutes we left without apps and left unfinished drinks. When we asked to settle our tab she still did not acknowledge us or say sorry. But she was quick to point out how to fill out the tip on the hand held device which I complied with a zero. I just lost an hour of my life that I will never get back. What a waste. Just okay. Salad bar is $10.99 and doesn't have that much variety. The $3 entree special might help make it worth it but you don't get much. Baked potatoes seemed old and so did the sour cream. Steak was okay although a small portion and the "blackened tilapia" was not blackened at all - it was lightly baked with an excessive amount of some kind of paprika spice blend. Supposed famous croutons were very greasy and gave instant heartburn. Some of the onions were translucent/old. This Ruby Tuesday is by far the cleanest, freshest, and well staffed of them all. My server was prompt and courteous. The salad bar was clean, fresh, and well stocked. This was my go to when I was growing up because me and my brother worked at one for 8 years. The quality of food went down and the service was not what I was taught! Refill before they have to flag you down, asking if we wanted biscuits instead of just asking did we want them, mashed potatoes cold and turkey burger was not what it used to be. Need to step it up on quality not quantity, there's too many corporate restaurants now. The RD of the area is amazing Shaun Johnson and he taught us what to do. Bartender was busy making drinks with back turned. Took 5 minutes to acknowledge me. Ordered a margarita. Too much sour mix included. Turned me off from the drink. Expected better from the top shelf margarita. Ordered green bean fries. They were good. Crispy but just a bit too oily. Food just OK...Service was OK until the server lost my credit card. They had it to charge my meals but it never returned to my table and they could not find it. OK, mistakes happen. However when the manager came over, rather than being apologetic and offering something for my troubles seeing as I now have to cancel my card, she was quite argumentative and made the motion of padding her pockets while stating "well, I don't have your card so I don't know what to tell you". Made me feel like it was my fault when they had the card long enough to charge my meals but never brought it back. Was called some 4 hours later by some other person saying I must have placed a to-go order because they found my card in the to-go area. Uh, no, I was dine in. Why the server placed my credit card in the to-go area is beyond me. Still, made to feel as if it were my fault, and still no offer to make it right. Just "oh, well". Of course I had already cancelled the card because who is to say they didnt give it to some other person with their receipt? Once again, most reasonable people understand mistakes happen but please don't come to the table stating it isn't your fault and there is nothing you can do. Preface: I noticed that Syracuse residents don't yelp. And I don't blame them. There's not much in Syracuse to get too excited about. So, I'm gearing all my Syracuse yelp reviews food reviews toward other visitors of the city who are looking for dining options. Sad to say but Ruby Tuesday may be one of the best bets for dining in Syracuse. This one is located near a circle of hotels including the Marriott Residence Inn. The salad bar is decently stocked with the inclusion of chopped ham and bacon. They also have perhaps the best croutons I've ever had. The croutons are dark brown so they don't look very appetizing but I think they cut them fresh from loaves of bread. I don't know what makes them so tasty and I briefly wondered as I was eating them if maybe they were deep fried? The salad bar is actually hearty enough to serve as a complete meal, and it's only $2.99 extra to add it on to an entree. The entrees are OK at best. The sides (mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli) were too heavily salted. We had an exceptionally excellent server (Ivan) who would have fit in at any high end big city restaurant. Ruby Tuesday.. pretty darned good. Too many tables though and was difficult to get from our booth to the salad bar. The salad bar was fresh but for some reason the cucumbers were sitting in a puddle of water. Other than that, everything on there was delish. Jerk Shrimp, mango salsa,and pilaf. All very tasty with a moderate kick, the sauce was a bit to tomato-ish and sweet, but I still enjoyed it. I give it a one star only because I can't go any lower. My buddy and I set at the bar. Our service was great and the food tasted even better. Then I watched the cook eating food from plates getting ready to go to tables. I brought it to the bartenders attention and the only concern she had was they were supposed to pay for any food they ate at the restaurant. In my travels I have found it the staff doesn't care the management usually cares less and tries to cover it with comped meals. Went here 4 times over last 4 days, it's kind of hit and miss to be honest. Food is good, the beer is cold but a little overpriced. Worst ruby Tuesday's I've been to. They are doing some kind of margarita drink in their tall beer glasses. I ordered a bud lite and all I could taste was old margarita. Thought it might've been a fluke. Had another, same thing. Also had the crispy chicken bites. Sauce was good. Chicken was terrible. Not much meat, way over-cooked. My family and I were so looking forward to eating at this restaurant,due to the fact that we saw this big commercial about there salad bar with 55 ingredients . We finally we're all off from work together so we decided we would stop and have some dinner. Big mistake we all would of rather ate at the nearest ponderosa with there salad bar. 1) The salad bar was terrible and very messy. 2) I asked if they had some apple sauce because my 6 month old son did not like his peas that we brought for him,this rude waitress said no we don't have any and walked away. 3) our waitress came back and I asked by any chance do you have any steam or cooked carrots and our waitress said no sorry. I said I don't understand you sell carrots on the salad bar but you can't cook 2 small carrots so I could feed my son,4). This restaurant does not compare to the one I went to down south, at least there they treated you with respect and the salad bar was great too. We have been going to this Ruby Tuesday location for a while. We really like the salad bar but the steak and shrimp we ordered was not up to par. The shrimp did not appear to be an actual shrimp but a flattened piece of fish which was deep fried and was chewy. The steak was just OK and not cooked to order - had the two steaks reversed as ordered. We did not receive any rolls either and thought they did not serve rolls any more with their meals. read more
