I hate chain restaurants and don't go to them if I can help it. I went this time because RT has a salad that I like, and I was starving. Lo and behold, it's not on their menu anymore, so I ended up getting a soup and salad from their salad bar, which was very limited and in desperate need of refreshing. I do like that they have edamame on their salad bar, though. The soup took way too long to get to me. I didn't think it took that long to ladle from a tureen and drop it off. I would have given this review negative stars if that were an option. So first off, the server, Savannah, was amazing, That is it for the positive portion of this review. So we got there and ordered our drinks and appetizers. It took at least 20 minutes to get our drinks and another 10-15 minutes for our appetizers. So total, it took almost 40 minutes just for our drinks and apps. Our drinks took forever for refills, at least 10 minutes for a refill of soda and tea. After we ordered our entrees, it took another 40 minutes for it to arrive, and this entire time, there were no more than 10 people besides us eating, so they weren't busy or anything. The food wasn't hot, but wasn't cold either, it was a bit warmer than lukewarm. One of the sides we ordered was mashed potatoes, which didn't arrive until AFTER we finished our meals, and even then, I had to ask the manager what was taking so long. Another one of the sides that was ordered was a baked potato. When we took a bite of it, it was still RAW. At least 1/3 of it was completely raw, and so we ordered another one. When the second one came, it too was raw, but even more so somehow. We ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, which as previously stated, took a while to get. When we were last there, it came with 10 sticks, but now it is 6, yet for the same price. I am sorry, but if I want to spend $10 for 6 mozzarella sticks, I would have gone to Walmart and bought a box of frozen ones. On top of that, they were so overcooked that half of them had little to no cheese whatsoever. Our friends had ordered some a bit after we got ours, and those took at least 20 minutes to get, and once again, were overcooked. My girlfriend ordered chicken, and, despite it costing almost $20, it was 2 tiny pieces of chicken, it was as if the restaurant ordered the smallest possible chicken breasts that they could. Furthermore, the price of the all you can eat salad bar used to be $8 or so but now it's around $13, so in other words, they are increasing prices for everything, but making the portions for most of it smaller. Everything about our experience was deplorable, except for our waitress. We felt so bad for her, because she was the only waitress, and despite it not being busy, she was so flustered with everything going on. She did her absolute best and I applaud her for that. She was literally the only positive experience that we had. I will gladly give her 5 stars, but literally everything else, 0. Don't waste your money going here, unless you want to spend a lot for a small amount of food, and have several hours wasted. read more

I'm not the picky type, all I expect is good food and simple service. When I and my friend went to eat with his girl and son, the service was mediocre at best. The waitress kept forgetting things and then bringing us stuff we didn't ask for and cluttered up the table. The food took almost a hour to come out. The coleslaw, which was the worst part of the day, tasted completely spoiled and it turned my stomach a little. Took 20 minutes to get our drinks my family and I ordered. Service was terrible and food was over cooked. They had two guys that were not doing a thing to seat people playing on their phones while me and my family waited on our drinks and meal. They were out of everything! Chocolate milk for my kids, sweet potatoes, the only light dressing they had was ranch, and they were out of ribs!!! I mean come on. My son ordered a ribeye medium and it came out well done. When I couldn't have ribs the manager at the time offered a free steak. Also ordered medium and it came out well done! She also said my meal was on her which I appreciate and gave me a 50 percent discount but I still ended up paying for my meal. This rating is for our server, Carter. My family was greeted by the manager because Carter was swamped when we got there. The manager took our order and I ended up with an over cooked steak, and my boyfriend and I both received the wrong veggies, but Carter was quick to say he'd take care of it and made my family feel very taken care of. My family went here for lunch on Independence Day 2013. They only had three servers on and not bus staff. We waited almost an hour for the five of us to be seated. Once we were seated, it took another 20 minutes until we placed a drink order, then 15 more minutes until the drinks showed up. The server tried but they were WAY understaffed. The food was okay but nothing spectacular. We'll likely choose a different of the many area restaurants in the area next time we eat out in Culpepper. read more

Here I am on August 21 2021, and I ordered myself a margarita. I was denied my margarita due to the fact that my ID is still straight up and down and not sideways. I was then refused a manager because it's "store policy" that they can't serve anyone with out a sideways ID and stated "well I'm 28 and my ID is like that and I wouldn't be served here either" with an attitude when her attitude wasn't asked for. I was here last week with a different server and was able to order my drink. I have never heard of not being able to be served alcohol because my ID isn't sideways. If the waiter is competent enough to read the date on the ID then she shouldn't be able to serve alcohol in general. That is not my only issue with my visit today, we were seated for 10 minutes before our server Lindsey even came over to take our drink order. After she took our order we got the salad bar and had to wait to eat because we weren't given silverware and had to get our own from the host. Sadly, this establishment has steadily declined since first appearing in Culpeper. The past 3 experiences have been just dreadful in every aspect. We used to go to Ruby's as our go-to celebration restaurant, but no more. The whole atmosphere is just way too casual at this particular restaurant. I'm not a fan of uniforms, but the entire staff seems to follow a "just throw on whatever's in your closet" credo - jeans and regular shirts. That's all fine, but you really can't tell who is staff and who isn't. It seems to affect the general demeanor and urgency of the wait staff as well - no one ever seems to be in the slightest bit of hurry - everything just takes way too long. The past 3 times, food quality has also been a big issue. There was some issue with just about everyone's dish, whether it be something left out, something overcooked, or something just plain wrong. Ruby's seems to go to great lengths to make their menu more sophisticated (and pricey), but the quality of the food, and the atmosphere in Culpeper don't even begin to come close to the goals of said menu and image. After being diners at one Ruby's or another since the late 1980s, we are sadly never going to visit one again, mostly thanks to the multiple experiences in the Culpeper location. read more

We wanted to try somewhere we all haven't been to in a long time so we decided to go to Ruby. We went there over the weekend in the evening time, when we arrived in it took a few minutes before anyone noticed we was waiting to be seated. We were seated then after we ordered appetizers it was fairly quick then took around 15-20 minutes before our food came out. The food was very bland and salty the cutlery was dirty looking like it hasn't been washed properly also! The very few employees that were there were all on their phones sitting around doing nothing. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and service that we received as a group. The salad bar was very good, the shrimp and rice were perfectly seasoned, and the server was very knowledgeable about the gluten free menu options. The atmosphere was perfect for conversation and visiting with friends. My only suggestion would be a gluten free option for dessert. I can wholeheartedly recommend this Ruby Tuesday. read more

We visited this particular location last night (03/15/14) while on a one-day road trip. We weren't sure where we wanted to eat, but had to pick something quickly as it was 9:30pm & getting late. Even though we too have a Ruby Tuesdays locally, I'd never eaten there before. From the moment we walked in the door, every face we encountered was friendly & personable. It didn't take long at all for our entrees to be served. I ordered the Parmesan Shrimp Pasta, & my friend had the Steak/Grilled Shrimp & Mashed Potatoes. Every bite was AMAZING! There are a lot of shitty things I could say about this particular Ruby Tuesday's but the other night they crossed the line. First of all; there salad bar is never fresh. Second of all; they must have changed managers and that was NOT a good move for them. It used to be a great restaurant. My parents went in to have a nice meal and the manager was super rude to them! My mother ordered a glass of wine.. and just wanted to know if it was 5oz. or 8z. (she did not care at all) she was just curious.. cause she never specified. The waitress went to the back and got her manger. They made a big scene inside the restaurant and completely embarrassed my mom. My mom is very quiet, sweet and does not like attention. She was questioning her... and my mom just gave it back cause she didn't want the trouble. Leaving the restaurant that night, they were completely horrified by the disgusting service- especially from a management standpoint. Y'all need to fix something in there. Why don't you start with the attitudes and the food. Those seem to be pretty important when thats all their is to your business. read more

We went to Ruby Tuesday's 2 weeks ago and the Air conditioning was not working. My family and I tried to endure it but it was way too hot and about 95 degrees outside. We had to leave, we were sweating. We did not even get to the food! Reason I left bad feedback is because if you operate a restaurant and it's 95 degrees outside & your AC is broken, you either get it fixed ASAP or you close until it is. read more

I just recently went to Ruby Tuesdays after about a year. The sevice is great even when things get hopping. The food is hot. They give you bisquits while you wait for the food. I don't like them, but people I go with do. Would rather have nice fresh hot bread. Wish they served bread with thier pasta dishes The cake and ice cream desert is out of this world, a must try. I give this a 4 star as it has great servers,great food, and most of all clean. I have been there at least once a week since I went back four months ago. Will not be coming back. After they changed the menu a few years ago we stopped coming because it went downhill after that. Whoever they have cooking the meat back there needs to be fired. The hamburger I received was mooing after I ordered medium well. My fathers steak was suppose to be medium well it was no where near cooked he couldn't even eat his meal. This is suppose to be a well run restaurant, a business. They ran out of almost ten things the most popular things on the menu. Completely unprofessional. The meal my dad got was suppose to come with jumbo shrimp they ran out of them so instead of giving him the option of ordering something else they bring him so fried popcorn shrimp. Two completely different foods. The only thing he was able to eat that night was the baked potato. There is nothing appealing about this Ruby Tuesday's would not recommend for a long time. Avoid this place. My first visit at this location, there was a hair in my burger. Second visit, we were seated by the kitchen door. No, they weren't busy. The restaurant was pretty much empty. No exaggeration. I couldn't tolerate the constant banging. We had to wait forever for the waitress to come ask us for our drink orders, when the place was EMPTY. So, I asked for us to be moved. After being moved tables, our new waiter was great. Third visit, no host at the door. Waiters continued to just look at us and carry on with their business. The restaurant wasn't busy. No one came to say "Hello, sorry for your wait. Let me go find the host in charge of seating." Nothing. At this point, more people were coming in and we were being ignored by all Ruby Tuesday employees. My partner even went to a waitress to ask for help. Her response was that she didn't know where the host was. That was it. We waited a while longer, got fed up, and then left. Only reason we kept going back here is because my partner enjoys the salad bar. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON. All of these reasons are probably why their establishment is always pretty much borderline empty. read more

Wow what a horrible place. We sat for an hour before receiving our food, and sat for a good 20-30 minutes before even getting drinks. All of the employees, including the manager, were very young, including the manager. The complimentary tiny cheese biscuits were given in 4's, our table had 6 people, and we were given one plate of 4- you -can-eat-in-one-bite- biscuits. We were sitting in the restaurant for around 2 hours, and an hour of that was consumed by us waiting for the horrible service there. On top of all of this mess, the food wasn't good and lots of the food that said would be included or made on the menu didn't show up on our plates. It was packed, given it was a Friday night, but it seemed like the restaurant wasn't prepared for that... We already hated Ruby Tuesdays but decided to give it a second chance... Not sure why we did!
