We first tried Ruby Slipper in Nola and absolutely fell in love with it! Anytime we are in a city with one I beg to go there. This time was no different. It was supppppper crowded but we got on the Yelp waitlist when we left the house (36th in line) and were 14th when we got there. Waited maybe 30 mins. Definitely recommend the waitlist. I first ate a RS in NOLA (in the Marigny), and I've been a huge fan ever since. I was pumped when they built one here! It is my favorite brunch place on the island. The Chicken St. Charles and Gulf Fish St. Peter are my go-to dishes. The fried chicken on the St. Charles and the cheesy grit cakes with the fish are amazing! I "got in line" before we left the hotel and by the time we got there we waited about 15 minutes! We were sat outside, which while we were walking out there, I was kinda bummed. We stayed in Gulf Shores for four days and had breakfast at Ruby Slipper every morning because it was so good! I have celiacs and they were able to accommodate my gf diet with French toast and breakfast sandwiches. The rest of my party enjoyed breakfast tacos and biscuit sandwiches, and we all enjoyed the seasonal blueberry breakfast margarita. Service was also great. Highly recommend! read more

Everything has a strange taste to it. From the biscuits and gravy to the Bloody Mary. We did not enjoy this place at all.

It was super busy but we were able to get seated within a few minutes. Service was prompt and everything came out fine. We both got the bacon infused Bloody Mary and they were a spicy taste but the bartender was not putting a full shot of vodka in the glass. We actually witnesses it and as a former bartender, I know how a drink should be poured. For the taste, it was good but I didn't get the value of $10 for the Bloody Mary. We stopped into this restaurant after finding them on yelp. Valarie our server was excellent! Give her a raise!! The food was good and I would recommend anything with their sauces. My eggs in my omelet did taste like some milk was added but they were still good. This is a busy place , but we got in without a reservation for brunch sitting outside in 10 minutes. Ok, 3 years in a row and I have to bump my review up a 5 star. The food has always been consistent and have always been quick about getting our large party seated quickly. This year we were seated outside which sounds miserable in the Alabama summer humidity but it was a really nice as the patio is covered and has fans. Ruby Slippers is a fairly new place (saw a sign saying that since they opened in 2016, they had donated (an amount I cannot remember) to charity. Btw - I always like to see businesses giving back. Husband had corned beef hash, one of his favorite go to breakfasts. Served on a biscuit, it was very filling; the horse radish gave it a nice zing. I considered getting one of the "fancy" pancakes but was afraid they might be too sweet so I went with the safer choice of Brioche French Toast. Not remarkable but very good as expected. While the idea of outdoor dining (under a covered porch) sounds appealing, be aware that the traffic noise is very loud; to help compensate, the volume of the music is cranked up. read more

So we came this morning to the Ruby Slipper. Very clean, very friendly. I ordered the Peacemaker, which is two different types of Benedict. I ordered the shrimp Benedict and the regular corned beef Benedict. My only issue with them is they go a little crazy or shall I say overboard on the amount of sauce they put on top. It kinda took away the flavor of the other ingredients in the Benedicts. My other party had a salmon omelette. He said it was fantastic but again too much sauce on top. I give it a four only because of the amount of sauce kind of drowned out all the other flavors. But I will tell you this... they have the best pancakes in the area. I will be back to try other items. Just note: I will ask them to put the sauce on the side next time. I would recommend this place. read more

Very disappointed. We normally do not go to chains but we make expectations for local type chains. It was not busy when we went. So I can't excuse the poor service. We ordered the Pig candy bites, breakfast sandwich, coffee, and peach bellini. The Breakfast sandwich was ordered with bacon, fried egg over medium, and add avocado and for the side we went with the breakfast potatoes. Ok, first mistake- they did not bring any coffee and by the time we could grab the server it was to tell her to forget the coffee. Which she said was good because she didn't write it down. Second mistake was ordering the pig candy. They say bacon bites with a candy glaze. I think it was maybe 2 strips of bacon cut into one inch pieces and the candy glaze tasted pancake syrup. Do Not Order These. Not worth the price. Third mistake was the breakfast sandwich that came eggless. The potatoes are what you would expect from a chain. The only thing they got right was the peach bellini. Poor service, disappointing food. Two stars one for the drink and the second as the food was eatable. I wish I could review their biscuits as they are suppose to be really good. However we will not be back. Very disappointed. read more
