Let me start off by saying I do have a couple of complaints, however I feel the good largely outweighs the bad. My major gripe is the lack of room to accommodate the large crowds of hungry people wanting to get their grub on, and until recently there was no shaded seating provided for people having to wait. Even the shade installed isn't feasable, because it's too small and there's not enough seating available. With that being said, if you pick the right times/days to go you can avoid all of this nonsense and be seated immediately. The interior is really interesting, I believe the building was a bank at one time and you can still see some of the elements remaining. Every server I've had was genuine and kind, they all seem to have interesting personalities which fits right in with the food and decor of this restaurant. I always start off with a cup of coffee, they use a local company called French Truck (I think). If you like a nice bold coffee this is where it's at! They even sell bags of it there. The waiters usually offer a cocktail so you can jumpstart your day a little differently if you like. Eggs Benedict is their specialty and they're served about a million different ways here. The biscuits are ginormous and mouth watering. However, if that's not your thing, there are tons of other breakfast selections available. All reasonably priced too! My favorite breakfast experience ever was eating at the Ruby Slipper outside on the corner table on a cool morning enjoying a hot cup of coffee, people watching and petting dogs. read more

Had brunch here today. Overall it was good but... They were out of shrimp .. which really sucked because what we waited over an hour for was the bbq shrimp and we were kinda annoyed that the waitress didn't tell us when she took our drink orders but that may have been cause we were super hangry by the time we were seated. we got French Toast and pancakes. This place is ah-ma-zing!!! My friend and I were recommended to come this one opposed to the ones closer to the convention center because it's better and boy am I glad we did. We shared a bacon infused bloody mary which was phenomenal! As well as a side of fried green tomatoes which trough be told we're not very good. They're made with panko bread crumbs... that's not the southern way. My friend had the bbq shrimp and grits which was great. Everything was perfectly cooked. I had a bacon praline pancake, bacon, potatoes, and an egg. Even though this option is a la carte it was sooo good. Like eye roll in the back of the head good. I would eat here again anytime. This is my first time at this location and wow was the service bad. The host was super nice and actually gave us a toy for our toddler to play with at the table but all down hill from there. Our waitress was unapologetically terrible. Our food took over an hour to come, something obviously went wrong with our order, but she hid in the kitchen instead of acknowledging it. Everyone seated after us around us got their food after us, including another table of 4 that was seated 30min after us. As the crowd started to form before opening time, the staff knew we had been out there for some time and had a table for us all ready when we finally walked in. The food is amazing. The wait was over 2 hours. They failed to give any sort of realistic time estimate and started to get nasty when we had to ask for a fifth time how long they thought we would be waiting. When we finally did sit down they didn't even have a table to accommodate the size of our party. The staff was rude except for yanna. Catfish coubion and bananas foster was delicious!!!! Super flavorful. The wait is long. Get on the waitlist and be there at the estimated time. They don't text you, they just call your name out. If you don't like the heat, try to sit inside with the air condition. Otherwise, you're facing Canal st. which is super loud. The food though is finger licking good. During our vacation we had to come back for seconds just because it is that good! Only reason I didn't give it a 5 star was the wait and the service. There are a few locations for Ruby Slipper including the one on Canal that opened last year. We normally go to the one in the Marigny - the building looks like it used to be a bank. Brunch mimosas are good, some dishes are a little pricy. They have different, southern style choices for breakfast and lunch - like catfish salad and eggs or fried chicken & eggs bene with biscuits and gravy. The cat head biscuits are big and tasty, and the egg servings are almost too big to finish in one sitting. They have a couple Latin style dishes, and all American sandwiches too. read more

I am giving it four stars because our service was terrible! They forgot about or lost our order. It took 45 minutes to get our food. Everyone around us who ordered their food after us, got their food before us. Furthermore, I had to ask them to do something about it and they only took $4.00 off our bill of $42.00. Not worth the wait. We waited for over and hour to get a table. I order the BBQ Shrimp and Grits, and it was flavorless. My wife order the Trifecta and there was a hair cooked into the batter. I like this location better than the one in Mid-City, such a cool re-use of a bank building! Very good coffee and now I'm wondering why I didn't have a Bellini? Anyway, I stupidly ordered eggs with a biscuit and corned beef when I could have ordered the special; a twist on the Benedict with fried green tomatoes as the English muffin, a bed of arugula and bacon. Everyone else at my table ordered it so I thought I should try the corned beef and MAYBE my husband would let me have some of his benny. He gave me one small and very delicious bite. Hash was pretty good, as was the biscuit but goddamnit, my over-easy eggs were inedible. Do restaurants cook eggs in a pool of water? First off, if you're in the French Quarter this is in walking distance on the East end. The West end can go to the one on Canal. Upon entering I was pleasantly greeted and expressed my intention for carry out. They sat me at the bar so they could get a server to get my order. The place is quaint; long bar, ample seating, cafe/restaurant atmosphere. The server that assisted me was very friendly and offered up some water while I waited. I ordered the florentine portobello mushroom, spinach & goat cheese accented with fresh thyme omelette. Sooooo tasty! The only thing I have to comment on the omelette is that there needs to be more spinach and less cheese in it. Seemed like the cheese was overwhelming. Still, soooo good. Also got a side of grits and a biscuit. I didn't know I'd be getting the biscuit along with the grits. If I did I would have ordered a side of fruit instead of the grits just to balance everything out. The "apple butter?" that's served with the biscuit was nice. The grits definitely didn't need any butter because there was an ample amount already included. To go bag was easy to carry and recyclable. I tried stopping in the Central Business District but the place was booked (even on a Thursday afternoon), so we drove out to the Marigny! The food was highly raved about by the locals, and don't get me wrong the food was good, but it was just an average breakfast. There was nothing that I ate, that really put me over the top. AMAZING!!! i read the reviews b/c it was walking distance from the BnB i was staying at and it was great! i had the two different eggs benedict (you can either get two of the same kind, or two different ones) while my husband got the stuffed french toast. my plate had so much flavor, and the biscuit of the eggs benedict was huge too. but his french toast was honestly the best i've had so far! they had a cripsy outside, and soft inside, just how they should be. they put the syrup, which didn't make them soggy, and they dusted them w/powdered sugar and fresh fruit too. the wait for our food did take longer than you'd expect, but we can tell they cook to order, and everything was fresh. no wonder they're a chain! read more

Hands down the best breakfast I've had in a LONG time. WOW! Are here twice on our 5-day trip (the location on Burgundy). First I had the Blueberry cheesecake stuffed French toast...out of this world! Great breakfast/brunch option! I recently went with a party of 10 and they were very accommodating. They don't normally take reservations but will reserve a section for a large party if you call ahead. The staff was attentive and our food was delicious! We ordered a variety of dishes including the Migas, Basic Breakfast, Bananas Foster Pain Perdu, and the Granola, Yogurt and Fruit dishes. To compliment our dishes, we also ordered the Brandy Milk Punch, which was just a little too milky, bellinis, and the infamous Ruby Slipper mimosa, which has a splash of pomegranate. Our mimosas were large, which made us very happy. The building is adorable. It's an old bank so it has lots of character. The walls are a nice cheerful yellow color. I've bookmarked this place for some time and I'm new to the neighborhood so was excited to try it out! I decided to go to this location because there was no wait time according to the yelp app. I arrived and look around not sure to sit or not; no one greeted me eventhough there's a guy with ipad standing by the door. No hellos or how can help you. He just stared at me like deer in the headlights. I told him I needed a table for one. Doesn't say anything and just walks over to a table so I follow. My waiter then comes after waiting for 10 mins (eventhough the place was not busy) and again no hellos or anything. He asked what I wanted to drink and then starts walking away. I stopped him and said I already know what I wanted to order. I give him my order and then my food arrives about 10-15 mins later. I had the peacemaker it was good overall but not spectacular. The biscuits were overcooked because they were very hard. The eggs cochon was better than the chicken st.charles. I felt like the chicken had no taste. During my meal the waiter never came to see how my meal was or even refill my drink. I was dieing of thirst and was about to take out my water bottle from my purse. So what was my waiter doing the whole time...chatting with his coworkers. Eventually he glanced for a second at me and I asked for a refill. 5 minutes later and bored of looking at my phone he comes with my drink and check. Instead of dropping the check on the table just like the drink he pushes the check right into my face. So freaking weird and ackward. It caught me off guard because I was looking down on my phone so I don't know why he wouldn't place it on the table. Very rude and unprofessional. Also I was going to order a beverage to go but it's obvious this employee did not want me there and seemed like he didn't want to be there either. Why bring a check without asking if I need anything else. I'm hoping to try their other items, but I definitely won't be going back to this location and do not recommend it. The customer service was bad from the beginning to end. Also when I walked outside I sat in one of their tables and overheard a couple complaining about the horrible waiter they had. So it seems the issue is with all their employees. I know customer service isn't a big thing in New Orleans but if you want to cater to those who are not tourist this restaurant needs to step it up.
