Overall, the food was good! First time visiting while on vacation the "Ruby" restaurant brand. The only issue was the wrong food was delivered to my daughter. We were one of the first customers at the restaurant at 7 AM. Not sure how the miscommunication took place for she clearly asked for a Spanish omelette. The waiter acknowledge there was a miscommunication after the fact but it was after I brought it to her attention for the second time when checking on when her order would be ready. Terrible experience. We waited way too long just for someone to take our order, and then even longer for our food. Meanwhile, people who came in after us were served first. To make it worse, the waitress brought our ticket before we even got our food--who does that? I understand being busy, but as a server myself, ask for help. We ate here in 11 Nov, and our server Amber was fantastic. She checked on a a million times and had a fantastic personality- we felt so welcome! The flourentine omlette was amazing (I added bacon) and the peach bellini was delicious. Definitely recommend giving it a mix before sipping, as they use real fruit so it settles at the bottom. Always love a Ruby Slipper visit since first trying it years ago in New Orleans (and there may have been just that location at that point...). First time to the Destin location and was not disappointed at all. Same pleasant, vibrant atmosphere as I've seen at other locations. Service was friendly and attentive, also a staple. Food, also as expected, was excellent (went with the Eggs Cochon this time...basically a magical riff on an Eggs Benedict with savory pork over a biscuit topped with perfectly poached eggs and hollandaise...and some greens in there too, so there's even a dash of healthiness!). The other bennies are also incredible, and I heartily endorse doing the option to try two or three. I've always found the omelets to be quite satisfying too. A decent selection of brunchy cocktails rounds things out nicely (several mimosa options, the breakfast margarita is refreshing), and some non-alcoholic choices of course (good coffee options). We went here with a group of about 15 people the day after a wedding. Even though we were a big group, we were seated quickly. I was impressed with their selection. Because we were a large group, I didn't want to cause any disruption so no food pictures this time. They have menus for food restrictions, which is impressive in and of itself. Gluten-"friendly," vegetarian, and keto-friendly. I try to avoid gluten, so I ordered their "Eggs Cochon" off their Gluten-Friendly menu. I was curious what "Apple Braised Pork Debris" was, so I asked. Essentially, it's their fancy way of saying Pulled Pork. I had it served over gluten-free toast with two poached eggs. And, while I usually avoid diner-coffee, we were post wedding so I needed some. It was good. I did like the Eggs Cochon - very tasty indeed. The service was good, especially for such a large party. The service was awesome. We are from out of town and were able to check in on the restaurants page without being there. It allowed us to take our time getting to the restaurant and the yelp app gave us updates on where we were in line. It was accurate, when it was time for us, we walked in gave our name and was seated. They had a variety of foods to choose from and the atmosphere was great. Breakfast had some hits and some misses but mostly good! The grits have milk in them if you are not used to that then order the breakfast potatoes. The chicken was seasoned well and hot. I have been to a Ruby slipper in New Orleans and was excited to see a new location in this area, which I frequent. There were two of us for a late breakfast, and the menu appeared to be similar to what we were accustomed to in Louisiana. The ambience was, a bit tired and felt dingy. I'm not sure what changes had been made after taking over from the former restaurant tenant. All in all our meal was decent. But the thing that stood out was the service. Our waitress did not seem to be really interested and Checking on us or getting our order. We came in hungry and ready to eat and we were there well over an hour and a half just due to her, not checking on us and not taking our order in a timely manner. It was one of those scenarios where we had to try and waive her down and eventually had to ask one of the other weight staff to locate our waitress. I hope that our poor experience is limited and we plan to return on a future trip. read more

The bloody marys were ok, but nothing to write home about. In my opinion the star of the show was the tater tot starter. The apple braised pork on these things was amazing and tender. This is where two people at the same table can have radically different feelings about the same dish. It was not at all what my husband expected and he did not care for the "stringy gloopyness" of the pork. Oh well, more for me. What a fabulous little diner to grab something to eat and surprisingly they also have good drinks. We went for breakfast and were greeted and seated immediately. The ambience was light and pleasant and it was a perfect place for a great breakfast on the beach. I had the shrimp omelette and it was very large and full of seafood. My friend had the Meat omelette and it was very large as well. They also had pretty decent grits. I like that they had a lot of cocktails as well as mock-tails to choose from.
