This delightful brick and mortar evolution of the original food truck just opened earlier this week in Lafayette. My daughter and I dropped in for a mid-day meal today. We both especially liked the Cajun spiced potatoes. She's a vegan and I'm a vegetarian and for us there were many choices of side dishes as well as a quinoa bowl on the menu. They also said they would be happy to substitute something for the meat in other menu items. I love their attitude. As far as meat dishes go, the owner told us that the Bourbon Chicken is quite popular. Anyway, this place is close to home, with yummy food and a clean, bright environment. So we'll be back! I had jerk chicken, my wife had bourbon chicken, one of my boys had the buffalo chicken finger sub and the other had a Bahn Mi sandwich. Everything was absolutely delicious. Ruby Ru's constantly hits it out of the park. I'm not sure what they do to their chicken, but it is ADDICTIVE. does a banh mi with chicken make sense? no. Is it absolutely delicious? Yes. The taco bowl and zucchini live in my head rent free. The flavors they've imparted into these dishes is next level. That bourbon sauce could probably fix your outlook on life if you're a negative person, the seasoning they put on the zucchini could probably made anyone like vegetables. The only dish we've had that isn't stellar is the Mac n cheese (an important dish because my kid loves Mac n cheese). We've tried it several times and it's always flavorless and dry. Okay breakfast sandwiches at an affordable price, but avoid the "orange juice", fyi business owner: you can't legally call Sunny D "orange juice", it's water and high fructose corn syrup, with a hint of artificial orange flavor, and not classified as such. Macaroni salad was not at all Hawaiian in my opinion, despite how they advertise it--not at all creamy or as delicate as Hawaiian mac salad.
