Just wanted to share another great experience at Birdhouse, still one of our faves! My daughter and her fiancé wanted comfort food last night, so we went to Birdhouse and, like always, left totally satisfied. We got the Birdhouse Flight to start--guac, five-cheese queso, and their birdhouse salsa (a tasty, mild tomatillo). Seriously, it's the best way to start your meal. For dinner, we all had ramen. I went for the Hellfire with extra bok choy. This ramen is no joke. If you want something spicy, this is it. The chili sauce, flakes, and oil really bring the heat. The kids got the Tonkotsu, which was amazing as usual--great broth and super tender meat. I had my spicy ramen with a Juicy Bits from WeldWerks, perfect combo. Seriously, it's some of the best ramen and service around North Denver. Whether it's for a special day or just a chilly night. Birdhouse is always good. I totally recommend it! read more

As a big ramen fan, Birdhouse was a pleasant surprise for me. I've had ramen at practically all the well known spot in Denver, from Katsu Ramen to Ramen Star (RIP) to Tokio. So it was shocking that I found such a good bowl out here in Erie. I got the Hellfire Ramen, a tonkotsu-based ramen served with their house spicy sauce, chili oil, pork shoulder, and a soft boiled egg. The broth was rich and flavorful, the spice level was perfect (quiet hot but still maintaining a good balance of flavors), and the pork shoulder was tender but still has a bit of nice toothsomeness. Overall, this was an excellent bowl of ramen comparable to any of the top spots in Denver. The only slight downside is that the broth was just a tough too salty for my liking, and I would've preferred a soy marinated egg over a soft boiled egg. They have other ramen here was well, such as a chicken-based shio ramen, a regular tonkotsu, and a Thai curry ramen. I definitely would return to try the other ramen. If the other items on this menu is as tasty, I wouldn't hesitate to give them 5 stars. read more

The Birdhouse deserves 5 stars but a part of me wants to keep it a secret so we can have it to ourselves. Happy hour everyday 4-6. Seasonal flavors offered as add on options to most drinks. We did strawberry margs and they did not disappoint. The Birdhouse Flight (a trio of queso, salsa, and guac with a delicious bag of chips) was as good as the reviews mentioned. Wife got a carne asada taco and was able to modify it for no cilantro. I did the tonkotsu ramen, which was a large portion of excellent ramen with big strips of pork and a perfectly cooked ramen egg. The interior is cool modern cozy - a cross between upscale farmhouse and chic. You could go in jeans and a t-shirt or be dressed up - it fits both. The large bar is the centerpiece (we will probably eat there next time) with plenty of seating all around it. Something that makes a big difference to us is the service - we had nothing but praise for it. From being greeted, to being seated quickly, and having Avery P as our server, we were very impressed. Avery provided many great recommendations and checked on us the right amount throughout our meal without being intrusive. Even the manager came by to ask us how we were doing. There's an obvious emphasis on great service here. We passed on dessert to try Little Man Ice Cream a few doors down - also highly recommended. One of our favorite nights out and a bit of a surprise in the quiet town of Erie. We will be back soon! read more

Ok let's start with the good. Service the hostess team was awesome and nice, the service was great overall Avery kicked ass. The overall look of the restaurant was good. Now for the bad. The food just is not good. I was expecting some decent taco tried the carne asada, Nashville hot chicken, barbacoa, jarritos pork and shrimp tacos. Not one was something to write home about. My son ordered the shio ramen again a lot left to want with the flavor. We did get decent apps The Edamame were great and the Chip trip was good. Fantastic menu of apps, ramen and tacos. Initially, I thought this was a weird combo but it really works. There is a variety of shareable apps. The happy hour has some good food and drink specials. The ramen is some of the best I have ever had. I was in the mood for something spicy so I tried the Hellfire Ramen. I asked our waitress how hot it really was, she responded with, "It's called Hellfire for a reason". It had a nice kick to it but wasn't an overpowering heat. Just a nice lingering warmth packed full of flavor with a generous amount of pork and a super tasty poached egg. The barbacoa and sweet potato tacos were stuffed full and had nice complex flavors. My wife has been telling me about this place for some time now and we finally made it for a date night dinner. The place itself was super cool and I really liked the vibe here. The food options are really great, I like that you can mix and match Ramen with Tacos and more. We started with the Birdhouse Flight and really liked the queso and guac. The perfect way to start off a meal. I opted for the Tonkotsu Ramen (Really Good!) for the main, my wife got the Kimchi Ramen and we both shared a Carne Asada taco (which was awesome) and El Champinon Taco (which was ok) Super cool spot, I'd certainly come here again. On a roadtrip back to home from Estes Park and we were looking for a good place to stop and have lunch. This was the absolute best choice! The variety and quality of ingredients was outstanding. This place is an out-of-this-world experience! We were picking up a bike in Erie, wanted to grab a bite before heading back north, and stumbled across this unassuming gem in our research. Birdhouse has very discreet signage, just to be warned. We walked in, were greeted and sat at the bustling bar right away. Considering it was 1pm, I was surprised to see that every table was full, with more people filtering in as we perused the menu. They started seating people in the "outside" area that had heaters and multiple tables that were obviously necessary with how popular this place is! Alex, the bartender, told us how they specialize in tiki drinks, ramen and tacos because "why not!" and gave us a few minutes to look over the options. As much as I wanted to try a tiki drink, we had plenty of driving left to do. I ordered the Thai Curry ramen with the shrimp grilled instead of tempura (thanks to Alex's recommendation), and my husband ordered four tacos - sweet potato, Nashville hot chicken, barbacoa and Ha-ritas Cerda. We both took our first bites/sips and were both wowed, to say the least! The ramen had a nice zip of spice to it without being overpowering, was rich and creamy with perfectly al dente noodles, and the shrimp were perfectly seasoned and seared. There wasn't a taco that my husband didn't like - the sweet potato could have been slightly softer, but all of the flavors melded together in a perfect harmony. The Nashville hot was my personal favorite, with a wonderful balance of spice and sweetness. We have yet to stop talking about how amazing our meal was and can't wait to make a full day trip back down to Erie to return and explore more of the town after stuffing our faces here again! read more

I want to like this place. I want to love it. It's a cool environment, and there aren't many options in Erie, but their food and drink is just not that good. And their menu is surprisingly limited. Their drinks are all overly sweet. It takes meticulous formulation to produce excellent cocktails, and they sort of mail it in. For their tacos, I'm guessing they make their own tortillas, because I've never tasted a store-bought one so bad. They were cold, seemingly still doughy and lacking any flavor. The meat was overcooked and dry. The ramen was shockingly lacking flavor and significant salt. I think they're overly proud of themselves and not looking at what they're actually serving whatsoever. read more

The restaurant is neat, very creatively designed space with indoor and outdoor seating, is family friendly and staffed with very friendly folks. Loved my experience here. It was freezing out and we were sat on the patio which was surprisingly warm for not being a real structure, lol. Our server was super attentive and sweet, i can't remember her name she had long black hair in a bun. We started with the shishito peppers that were a limited time special and they were so yummy, lightly sprinkled with a crunchy topping and having a slightly spicy aioli to dip into. The tacos looked delicious but with the freezing temps i decided to opt for a ramen. I wanted to try the Thai curry ramen but got a little scared when the spice level wasn't adjustable and our server said it was a 3 out of 5 spiciness. So i decided to play it safe and go for the tonkatsu ramen which was absolutely the best decision and i loved it!! Everything was delicious, the pineapple crème brulee was a unique and amazing dessert, never had anything like it. The crispy pineapple crust with the coconut ice cream to cool it down, just amazing. Food: I tried the edamame and birdhouse flight for my appetizers, and tonkotsu ramen and carne asade taco for my entree. Let's start with the birdhouse flight: we had the salsa with cinnamon and cloves (it starts with a b, ask your waiter for the name) offering a unique twist on salsa as we know it. But wow, when I tried it my mind was blown, it was no longer a salsa but a beautiful dipping sauce packed full of flavorful spices and a slight hint of tomato. The guacamole was also very good, it had pepitas on top offering a nice crunch and salty flavor. It had a good spice mix and it tasted very fresh. The queso was my least favorite of the trio, but it was still good. There was nothing too outstanding about it. I would say eat this when it's fresh and hot because the texture changes as it gets colder. Next up, the edamame. Wow, this was my favorite thing out of everything (entrees included). It had flaky sea salt on top offering great flavor, and the beans were cooked nicely. The dipping sauce was like nothing I've had (okay maybe it is just not served with edamame). It had a mustardy flavor, but also sweet, and salty. It was just comfort and happiness in my mouth with every edamame bean. The carne asade taco was actually, in my opinion, not the best, it had a good sauce and good amount of cheese, but the meat wasn't that great. It was dry and a little chewy. It wasn't worth the price ($6.5). The tonkotsu ramen was yummy. I liked all the extra toppings you could add (I added marinated mushrooms which were fantastic) making it unique to you. The pork was great, when it's soaked in the broth for a few minutes it soaks up all the flavor. The noodles were a great texture and tasted homemade (I don't even know if they were)!! Service: Our server was excellent, helpful in deciding what to order and she made sure we were accommodated for. The food came out very fast for how busy it was. Atmosphere: There were lots of different styles found throughout the restaurant, but somehow they came together to give it an upscale feel, and the dim lighting gave it extra mood. Overall: I really enjoyed everything here, and everything was beautifully presented. All of the appetizers had a somewhat twist to them giving old classics exciting, modern feels. P.S. An absolute GEM in the sea of typically terrible Colorado food! From the moment you walk in you can tell that it's upscale and you're met with professional, attentive service. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food is SO good. The tacos are delicious but the ramen is the real star. We sat at the bar and were constantly attended to, but never rushed. We were able to have a cocktail and an appetizer while we browsed the menu for our entrees and it was all timed out perfectly. I hate when places try to rush you, make you order apps and entrees all at once, and bring it all out together. Not the case here. Perfect for a chill, relaxing romantic date night. Downtown Erie has some gems! For a roughly two-block stretch, there are a surprising amount of good places to eat! I moved to Erie about a year ago and have been to Birdhouse twice now, and both times have been pretty dang good. I've only ever been in for lunch, neither time has been extremely busy. Parking has always been super easy, as there is ample street parking in the vicinity of the main strip... and it's usually the middle of the afternoon. Birdhouse is pretty unassuming from the exterior; before we really looked into it, I swear I didn't even realize that it was a restaurant, let alone a restaurant with such a unique menu: ramen and tacos. The decor is also really fun and gives off a "tiki industrial" vibe lol. Very cool. The first time we stopped in was without a doubt the better experience for me This time, we started with an order of the agebitashi and split the hellfire ramen (with an extra egg). I am a fiend for spicy foods and absolutely loved the ramen. They weren't kidding about the spice level, so be aware of that if you think you might be on the fence! The service was excellent, and our waiter was super friendly. Second time around we ordered tacos, and this time was just as much a 5-star experience. We started off with the house made guacamole, which was absolutely delicious. Very fresh tasting, and the pepitas were a nice touch! I ended up going with the camarones a la diabla and barbacoa tacos, BF also got a barbacoa taco, as well as carne asada and carnitas tacos. I didn't manage to take photos in time during our second visit, but believe me when I say that it looked delectable! All the tacos came out hot and the ingredients tasted fresh and seasoned/sauced well. One thing that always bothers me about ordering street tacos is that the corn tortillas usually fall apart from being drenched in sauce or drippings from the meat, but I am happy to report that all our tortillas remained intact. Staff is super friendly, price point is pretty reasonable, and food is bomb dot com. Birdhouse checks all the boxes in my opinion! I'd love to come back to experience dinner as well, and look forward to trying as many different things as I can! read more

Took the family on a Sunday afternoon to try this place and I am glad we did. The food was really good as we ordered lots of different options. My kids tried all the taco options and they were excellent. I had the Tonkotsu ramen and let me tell you the broth was probably one the best I have ever had. The spice level was perfect. Not too spicy and flavorful. We also had the edamame and salsa/queso which was also good. The service was excellent and our server was very friendly and attentive. Came here with the ladies for a Sunday lunch and the Birdhouse did NOT disappoint. I was a virgin diner so of course I wanted to try everything. Trying to limit yourself can be a challenge here so just plan to go back and back again to try everything. No doubt, everything on the menu is delicious. There's a lot of choices for ramen and the tacos peaked my interest, but not as much as the ramen. I opted for the mushroom ramen and added bok choy and tofu. Incredible. The portion was so large I didn't even know where to start. Thankfully I go through what I could and was able to bring home almost 1/2 of the ramen to eat for dinner which I shared with the hubs. Iceberg Hearts, Creamy Chipotle Salsa, Cotija, Radish, Bacon, Avocado, Tomato, (sans) Corn Nuts Tacos were delicious - Teres Major Filet, Pico, Avocado Crema, Cotija, Salsa Roja. There's a garaged area with doors that allow one to stay warm inside on cold nights, yet on a warm day allow for patio dining - love the versatility. It was a delicious meal for all of us. The Hellfire ramen is amazing! It is spicy, but also very flavorful. It wasn't just all burn but had a lot of depth to it. The pork was tender and juicy. Noodles cooked to al dente! Unlike the usual ramen they had a poached egg which complimented the ramen really well! Highly recommend this place. Lastly their Szechuan tuna tartare was also delicious. Got a good kick and the sesame cracker is a great addition. Such a rare find in downtown Erie! read more

We love the appetizer that is a flight or dips (queso, homemade guac and salsa) I had the shio ramen which has their amazing fried chicken in it. Absolutely fabulous flavor. Living in Denver you don't find many locations like this one. tacos and ramen you wouldnt think go together but they do. Not just bEcuador they taste good but the atmosphere and the service make it all the more better. Ashley and Tatum were our servers tonight and they did a fabulous job.
