We were in East Nashville visiting from Boston. We wanted to do a sisters day and have mani pedi's. They were the cheapest in the area by at least 40.00. This is a typical nail salon no thrills! It's clean and spacious. The most important thing was they did a great job. The massage was good and my nails are even and look amazing. I stopped in for a pedicure and gel mani. They took their time and both look great. The massage on the pedi chair was nice too, much more powerful than other pedi chairs I've sat in. Great for a cheap manicure or pedicure. Manicure is $12, what a deal! I love getting gel manicures but they are always pretty expensive, you can get one at Rubys for $25!! The only thing about the gel is that they have a pretty limited selection of colors, but for the price who cares! read more

HORRIBLE! I've been getting my nails done for 20 years, and this place is definitely one of the worst places. The workers are rude. The customer service is awful. They are not thorough - and their pedicures are the worst. My massage on each leg lasted 30 seconds, I swear to you--same with the foot scrub. It took about 15 minutes from start to finish. I read ONE article in People Magazine and my pedicure was over. When I left my feet were still rough, and when I asked the nail tech to please spend another minute or so buffing my feet---she got an attitude and yelled at me and called me 'crazy.' So to avoid a scene--I simply have to accept that. But I leave and my feet are still rough. I'm coming in for a pedicure and a rushed job is not what I'm paying for... I walked in with my friend who is paralyzed from the waist down, and upon entry and upon exit---not one person got up to help us with the door. I was carrying her with my body and not one employee or the front desk even blinked an eye to help. She couldn't even believe it. As I was drying my nails--two customers were talking and telling me they'd never experienced worst customer service. In fact to quote the girl, "They didn't make us feel welcome here. They made us feel bad for coming in. They're crazy." It's overall--very negative environment and I really wish a new place would open up where I'd feel confident and happy spending my money. I was satisfied with the final product, but I was not impressed with the service. I did not feel very pampered, I felt that I was just a number. They herd people in and out of chairs and this was not very inviting. If service is not a priority and you only need a quick mani or pedi, this is not a bad option. No bells or whistles, but a great manicure at a great price. This was my first gel manicure. It is 98% perfect. The manicurist was friendly and gentle (I get a little nervous when the cuticle clipping starts, but it was painless!) and meticulous and did an excellent job. It appears their gel polish brand is Gelish, not Shellac, but that didn't matter to me, just good to know if you are coming in with a color in mind. But they had tons of colors of Gelish. A gel manicure was $25 and they charge $1 to use a card. They told me they don't charge to remove the gel if you come in to change colors too. I loved it, I'll definitely go back. Not sure of all hours, but I know Fri, Sat are 10a-7p. No appointments, walk in only. I sat right down as soon as I walked in on a Friday afternoon. read more

I got a pedicure tonight and it turned out great! Obviously this place isn't a "spa resort"...it's a hole in the wall nail place in East Nashville. But overall I had a good experience! And I upgraded the $22 pedi for $5 more to get my feet scraped/scrubbed and massaged. So I'm not sure what the regular pedi includes. Several of the reviews I read said the people who worked here were rude but I didn't get that vibe at all. I was greeted right away and the lady doing my pedi worked hard. I personally feel weird chatting it up with the person scrubbing my feet so I appreciate it when people aren't overly friendly in that scenario. I will definitely go back! They used to be good about doing pedicures but now they are horrible...I went in December to get my toes done and the tech cut me and charged me full price and took off 5.00. for cutting my cuticle and making it bleed profusely! I should have called the board on them but I didn't I thought maybe because she was new and nervous she had made a mistake. I went back to them April of this year and the tech that has been working with them forever was supposed to give me a pedicure. She ended up cutting my toe and didn't apologize!! Told me to go home and put Vaseline on it??!!I was furious and should have walked out and not paid..She charged me 30.00 for her bad service!!! Mediocure at best...The only thing going for them is a mani and pedi is $33. The place looked as if it were on its last leg. The polish selection was minimal. I was recommended to go to this salon because of their prices. Now, I understand that they're not a spa, but I was also expecting a shellac mani to be better than what I received. Pros - friendly and funny staff, a variety of shellac colors including the mood-changing colors Cons - poor application of shellac polish, the overuse of the UV light I got the gel mani five days ago and it has already chipped on two nails. The base coat was on some of my cuticles. Although I LOVE the color, the application could've been a little better. I think that my future services will be pedi's and basic mani's. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS AWFUL PLACE! Not only are they extremely rude to customers, the sanitary factor is concerning to say the least. Dirty floors, bugs, and poor upkeep is the first red flag upon entering. Second, they only have maybe 40 colors to choose from, most of which are half empty and old looking. Lastly, the gentleman doing my manicure CUT the side of my finger and I'm concerned I may have an infection now, as it is red and a tad swollen. This place is amateur hour at it's finest. Forgot to mention, while I was there another woman came in complaining that a manicure she had got two days before had chipped off on two nails already. Shotty work is the norm here apparently. Pedicure and manicure were done in 35-40 minutes. My feet were barely worked on let alone the leg massage was 2 minutes of just rubbing the lotion in. While doing my nails, she pressed too hard during the beginning and it physically hurt. She snapped at my friend who asked her nail tech if she could paint a nail a little more. Again, was done in no time with a quick minute "massage" on my arms. She was constantly running off to answer her phone and then was actually ON the phone while doing my nails. Very unprofessional. Don't expect any frills at Ruby's, but what you will get is a great manicure (that will last a solid 2 weeks) at a price that can't be beat. The staff are friendly and work fast. They are very good to regulars too. Be mindful that if you pay with a credit card, there is a $1 fee, but considering the prices are so inexpensive, it really isn't anything to get upset about. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I actually would. I have never left a negative review for a business, but my experience was seriously that bad here. Went in for a pedicure and a shellac manicure. After 1.5 hours in their shop, I am leaving with only a pedicure. Whatever cheap brand of "shellac" base coat they use gums up on your nails and doesn't set. So after pointing this out, the guy took it off my nails, soaked my fingers in pure acetone, and started over. Happened a second time and he told me it was my nails, that they must be "oily" or something (what??). So he soaks them again in acetone, takes off the base coat which basically scrapes the top layer of my nails off, and then they had the audacity to charge me for the "manicure". I told them I wasn't going to pay for the manicure since it's not my fault their base coat doesn't work, to which they insisted because he had already filed my nails. My nails are now paper thin (they actually look wayyy worse than when I came in) and I STILL don't have polish on my nails. read more

I absolutely love this nail salon. Everytime I have went I have gotten outstanding service and most of all have nt had to wait. They offered me somethinng to drink upon arrival and the nail tech talked to me the entire time instead of how normally they talk amongst each other and you dont understand what they are saying. At first I was skeptical about the salon because they offer $20 pedicures so, im like they must not do a good job. But I was def wrong. I went on a Saturday around 2:00 PM because it was close to my house, I read other decent reviews on Yelp, and I wanted to try the Shellac manicure. I walked in, and was not greeted. I had to say "hi" to get someone working there to acknowledge me. I'm not asking for "spa" type service, but would appreciate a "what can I do for you" at least. I asked to see the Shellac colors, and they seated me on the end. No one brought the colors, so I sat for about a minute staring at a trash can overflowing with dirty paper towels, looking at pieces of fingernails all over the place- in my chair, the counter, the floor, etc, and it smelled like body odor in there... I am very familiar with nail salons, visiting several in my day, but this was the worst. I actually left after being disgusted about the uncleanliness. However, maybe I'll give them some excuses- they were busy and didn't have time to clean in between clients, a lot of people have been in and out during the day, but this mess look like it has been there for years.
