I've been coming to this nail salon for about three years now, and overall, I truly love it. Like most salons, your experience can depend on which technician you get. Some are good, some are just okay, and some are absolutely over-the-top amazing. When you land one of the great ones, the experience is chef's kiss. One thing that is consistently excellent is the cleanliness of the salon. It is always spotless. There is a very kind gentleman who goes around with a homemade cleaning cart and resets each station almost immediately after a client gets up. He sanitizes everything thoroughly, which really gives peace of mind. Services come with a complimentary beverage, which is a nice touch. Options include water, soda, wine, and beer. The gentlemen who work at the front desk are also extremely friendly, flexible, and always in good spirits. They're easy to talk to and willing to work with you if you have questions or need accommodations. Pedicures are one of my favorite services here. I usually get the Volcano pedicure, which includes a warm, scented neck wrap such a relaxing detail. The massage chairs are great, and I appreciate that they use a timer for the massages, so you're never shorted on time. I do usually ask them to turn the water a bit warmer during pedicures; I think they keep it cooler by default to avoid burning, which I understand and appreciate. Manicures are also very well done. I like that most technicians have their own individual stations, which helps keep things organized and personal. Many technicians also have Venmo or Cash App QR codes at their stations for tipping. If not, you'll need to tip in cash so keep that in mind. There is a card fee if you pay with a card, but there is an ATM located to the left of the front desk if you'd rather pull out cash and save a little. They offer a wide range of colors, styles, and techniques, so whether you're going for something simple or something more detailed, there are plenty of options to choose from. Overall, this salon has become my go-to, and I plan to keep coming back. Technicians Bim - Absolutely wonderful and hands-down the best at nail designs that I've seen. If you're looking for detailed, creative work, Bim is a must-book. Megan (Eyebrows) - I go to Megan for my eyebrows every time. She is fantastic. She originally worked at another salon in Mechanicsville, and I was thrilled when she started working here. She's been doing my eyebrows since 2018, and I wouldn't trust anyone else. read more

I've been here a few time for gel pedicures. I love the vibes and clean salon, but the water they always soak my feet in almost cold water, and none of my gel pedicures have lasted like at my previous salon. I have gotten a few different techs, varying from a decent pedi to an absolutely terrible one that took nearly 2 hours. The tech was sweet, but clearly very new and not trained much. Great experience at Ruby's. I came in around 9:30/10am on Saturday and they were PACKED. Despite that, I was sat quickly and serviced not too long after. The pedicure was fine but I got knicked during the manicure. The tech was quick about cleaning it and moved forward but the alcohol burned. They had a lot of nail colors and I was happy with how it came out. I think I spent about $80 with the tip. read more

I was charged $167 (that's the price without the tip) for my nails and toes! They up charge everything! They charged $30 extra dollars just to have chrome on my nails. And $17 extra for gel on my toes. Charged me $5 extra for my shape of nail (coffin) which wasn't a big deal just never been charged extra anywhere for a nail shape. And this was the type of job I got... also noticed weird red marks on my neck from the heated neck pillow that was included in the deluxe pedicure.. very odd! Disappointing to say the least. As soon as I walked in I was greeted, and set down for my pedicure. I needed a Pedicure, an awful set of acrylic nails taken off from another salon I visited, I wanted a gel design manicure, and my eyebrows and lip waxed. B was my nail tech and he went above and beyond. My pedicure was amazing! He did awesome, and my manicure was the best I've ever had. He took his time and did a great job, and even kindly received my feedback if I needed something adjusted on my nail design. Hannah did my eyebrows and on fleek isn't even the word! I love this salon! It's so beautiful and inviting as well. They also offer drink when you are getting your service. I opted for water but debated a glass of wine! I was referred by a friend and my experience was awful. I was told to come right away only to wait an hour in the pedicure chair. When I finally had a technician come and take care of me, it was as if he could have cared less that I was there. He was rough, dug his nails into my skin, gave a very light, quick massage and the whole pedicure was over very quickly. The when he got to my nails, it just continued to go downhill. He refused to do the design I wanted. He left my nails in filed and rough. Them when I complained to management they reprimanded him right in front of me at the front reception area. Very awkward. They were able to accommodate me within 30 min of my phone call requesting a service so I'll give them props for that. All I wanted was gel polish removed and a clear coat of polish. The technician cut my cuticle once and it wasn't too bad so I didn't say anything but it was slightly bleeding. But then she gouged another finger and it hurt so bad I jumped up! She apologized and as it bled profusely, she got some sort of talc powder to stop the bleeding. I was shocked at how bad my nails looked when I left and she told me she took $8 off for me. It definitely should have been free. First time in my life I didn't tip. First experience here and definitely my last. I went in for a pedicure with gel & a acrylic fill with gel...first, the water was cold in my pedicure bath, then she charged for every single thing she did - cut down, the shaping, repairs & finger design...I understand the finger design but there were no repairs & the other things are all part of having the fill! I was one of the last ones out last night & they don't show you the itemized receipt until after you pay so I paid she slides me the receipt & I leave....I've never been here so I just thought they were more expensive than my usual salon (I'm visiting from out of town). After I looked over my receipt I saw all the charges so I came back in this evening to go over it. The girl that did my nails said that the repairs were from where the acrylic came off of 3 nails & she had to redo it. My appointment was at 1:30, they seated me in a pedicure chair and firgot about me. At 2:10, after seeing other clients who arrived after me getting their pedicures, I asked the tech working on the person next to me for a manager and told her what time my appointment was. a technician then came right away. When checking out I asked why I had a long wait but no one else seemed to have that problem. Went to Ruby Nails yesterday, and will not go back. I asked for "Classic Pedicure" and eye brow waxing. The "spa" part of name is deceiving. The massage consisted of attendant rubbing tops of shins, never touched calves which would have been appreciated. Nail polish all over toes; she did use paint brush to try to remove most of it. No top coat; no drying; and nail polish on my brand new Clark's sandals (1st time worn). My heels are almost, but not quite as rough as when I went in. I readily admit to having unruly eyebrows; and they looked no better when I got home. Love the new space! I came to get a fill in on pink and white full set I had done about two weeks ago. I wasn't very Happy with the set, there was some tiny black particles in the pink, there was a lot of bubbling and they were extremely thick sitting on top of my nail. So tonight, I made sure to ask for someone who really had experience with pink and white. Tina, the manager, immediately decided to do them herself and did a phenomenal job! They are so natural looking and exactly what I wanted. So pleased. I will be making my appointments with her exclusively! My only criticism would be, if a nail technician isn't knowledgeable or doesn't feel confident doing a client's request, ask the client to wait. I generally love this place. However, the tech who was doing my nails asked my 4 year old son what he would like to drink, water or orange juice and he replied orange juice. She brought an oj in a glass to him and said want your oj? He then took a big gulp and spit it out. I smelled his orange juice and it smelled like alcohol mixed with nail polish. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that it would only be 10-15 minutes and super happy that it was an accurate estimate! Didn't see a lot of options for regular polish (I saw that some ladies brought their own), so I went with gel polish. Got the deluxe pedicure since it's my first pedicure post COVID, and enjoyed it. Horrible experience. I walked out bleeding and crying. I came in for a pedicure, got seated and the when technician started filing, she was so rough and fast it sliced my skin at the nail tip on two toes. It hurt and I told her that and she just stopped and started to rub lotion and use the towels. She then started to paint and it was all around the cuticles and looked like a mess. She tried fixing it with acetone but it still looked awful. I asked for the manager and she said she would fix them so the polish was wiped away and it stung because of my cuts. The manager didn't come back for 10 min and took phone calls and kept going away and when she came back I mentioned the cuts and she brushed it off and tried applying nail glue to my cuts and started using base coat while her hands were shaking. I said I'm done and got up and walked out. I heard great things but it's one bad technician that can ruin your experience here. I had to go elsewhere to get them painted. My cuts hurt just when walking around now. I came home and applied dermabond. read more

I am a repeat customer here because of the amazing service. Everyone is always kind and attentive. They serve complimentary wine and snacks. Their prices are low (honestly as a small biz owner myself they should charge more they are certainly worth more than other local spots). I usually see Hanah however everyone has been great. The service was horrible. My nail tech Jenny was not personable at all. I don't get to treat myself very often to getting my nails and toes done so I consider it a special occasion. The pedicure was done in record speed. Nothing special for the money I paid. My nails were done just ok. Not once did she asked if I liked them. I felt like I was rush in and out like cattle. Being quick is ok, don't get me wrong, but don't forget to make your customers feel appreciated for their business. I will not be back. I will take the money I paid ($$$) somewhere else. I had my first visit with Ruby Nails and Spa and I will most definitely be back ! I was attended to by Darlin and she was wonderful. I got a mani, pedi and eyebrows done. I've had shellac done at another salon and their work while nice seemed a bit rushed. Not the case here ! I came in without an appointment and was directed to a chair within a few minutes. Darlin was very friendly and funny which I appreciated. There is just something about good customer service that keeps bringing people back ! At first glance this shop is so beautiful. The customer service is better than most shops I've been to. However, I stopped getting my nails done for months due to lack of care from technicians and poor quality rough work. On first impressions I expected this shop to be a little different so I gave them a try. First off I asked for a gel pedicure and a acrylic full set with french tip. I tried to keep it simple because I assumed there was no way they could mess that up. Unfortunately, towards the end of my pedicure when it was almost time to paint my feet the technician began rushing telling me that she had an appointment she forgot about. So she painted my nails quickly I didn't at the time notice she didn't allow enough time for my feet to dry before she sent me off to the young lady doing my nails. I moved over to the next chair and I got my nails done. I didn't really love her method of french but at the end it came out with a result that I could live with. I also purposely got them short because Longer nails tend to break easily for me. I paid about $125 w/ a cash tip for service. As I was leaving out of the shop I looked down and realized my toe nail paint was buckling mind you this is gel polish so I went back in asked the man upfront if someone could repaint them so the young lady who did my finger nails sat me back down and eventually had to remove the paint off of my nails and start over, due to the first technician rushing and I was told by the young lady fixing them that she didn't allow enough time for all of the paint layers to dry hence the paint buckling. Now onto my nails, this a big reason why I no longer do nail shops. It hasn't even been two full weeks yet and on the first 4 days, one of my nails popped off completely from reaching down and picking my dogs toy up from my patio. So here I am 4 days later upset because if the full set was properly done there's no way this would've happened so easily. About 3 days later another nail pops off taking my hair out of a loose bun. So for the pricing I just believe they need to do better with their quality of work and techniques. I don't think ill be back here unfortunately but hope this helps them to improve! read more

Wow. I walked in for a manicure. Seemed pretty busy. Thought that must be a good sign. Gave me to a lady named Kim. Told her I was new @ this and excited to be here. She said nothing. She finally spoke and asked me "You don't want trim, do you?" I replied, I don't know, what do you think?" She said, "They're your nails." She wouldn't talk to me or make eye contact. It was extraordinarily disrespectful, awkward & oh yes, the manicure left much to be desired. The gel doesn't go back to the cuticle and it looks like it's al ready @ least a week & 1/2 old. It's only been 3 days. Showed a couple of my coworkers and family that get regular manicures. They thought it looked very amateur, especially w/the debris that was apparently in the brush or polish. I paid to upgrade to the gel. I paid. I left. I won't be back. UPDATE: Owner/Mgr reached out and offered complimentary services and a sincere apology. I reluctantly took her up on her offer. I have seen Amy twice now and she is as delightful as she is competent. I will continue to go there. read more
