The nail tech who did my full set was super sweet and did a great job on my nails ! got the shape i wanted and it was a cute and welcoming place to come to !

I've come here a few times and it's right near VCU and a bunch of other places. Parking is a bit of a challenge so prepare to walk there. They're pretty much always busy with 2-3 people working there. That didn't surprise me because I read some reviews before going. But with that being said, if you have any type of time constraints please don't go here, even if you have an appointment. The place is pretty small so there is barely room for you to wait to receive your service. Sometimes they will greet you sometimes they won't. I see them interact super well with some of their regulars that they know by name so I know they've got the service and friendliness in them I guess they don't "waste" it on just anyone. They have a decent assortment of colors and do some of the more "modern" designs. I've gotten a glow in the dark polish before that ended up being okay. One of the people, I believe to be a student a VCU is pretty talented and does great work but she's not always there. The others are kind of inconsistent. I had my nails done by one person and painted my another and the younger girl who painted them did not do a good job. They will charge your for your shape and for a cut down which is common but what really blew my mind is that I was charged for not getting a cut down because my nails were "kind of long". So they sprinkle in fees when they can. I'm not a huge fan after my few experiences and don't think this is the shop for me.

    Horrible polish job

I went in for a pedicure. The young lady (D) was very polite but she did not have experience in the field. She scrubbed my heel so much it felt raw. She had polish everywhere. The other workers/owner kept looking but ignoring the look of disappointment on my face. I will NOT be returning.

    My nails done by Jenny.

I felt very disrespected and upset my nails were rushed instead of just turning away my business. The first picture are my nails the second is the reference. Jenny did this work.

    Versus what I asked for!

Although, friendly staff, I hate my nails, very thin, she kept filing to point of no return to be long enough for coffin design nails and design looks nothing like pic I showed her for reference!!! I tried to voice my dissatisfaction without getting upset to no avail for discount and now will have to go elsewhere to get redone!!! Will not return. Next day update: several of my fingers have file burn so the thousand times I have to put sanitizer in my hands have killed me every time!!! And the edge of my nails are so thin and sharp I keep scratching myself!

Made an appointment for 5:30, had to wait for 10 Mins, but well worth the wait! Small intimate shop with great music. Very clean, when u enter everyone is required to wear a mask and wash their hands. Loved my nails!!!! Lovely and quick service.

I usually don't post bad reviews, but the experience here was absolutely horrible. The person doing my nails said himself that he was going to rush, he was smoking while doing my nails, and he got gel polish all over the cuticles and my fingers. The worst part was that he filed my cuticles extremely roughly to the point where they were bleeding and raw. I have literal scabs around all my nail beds from this!!! Will not be coming back

Two stars is fairly generous to me. My first time coming here I had made an appointment in the morning. When I arrived the store wasn't even open. I called and the owner answered saying she was stuck in traffic and that she could see me and that I should wait. I said no and went to another nail salon due to the inconvenience. The second time I came (which I shouldn't have, should have Ubered somewhere else) the manager told me it would be a 30 minute wait. A "30 minute wait" that turned into 1 hour and 30 minutes. Trifling. Coming from customer service it's best to be as honest with your customers. If your getting "backed up" communicate that. And be accountable towards your customers if they have had a bad experience. I expressed my concerns to the lady doing my nails and she said they always get backed up on the weekends, so basically even if you have an appointment don't expect to get your service done at that time which is new to me. After I finished my nails the lady told me to speak to the manager and when I did she denied my first experience and then later said if It did happen it was a long time ago. No accountability and just a 10% student discount. My time wasn't worth the $32 for a gel pedicure. However, the young lady did do a good job! (In picture) I understand there are more pressing matters going on in the world, however when it comes to your business you must be considerate of other people's time as I am considerate of your art and business. Invest in more staff on the weekends as well because your employees seem overwhelmed.

    Fancy pedicure!

The pedicure I received was great! The technician was friendly and efficient and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. The price was really fair and I didn't even have to wait. The salon is small and I went on a week day in the middle of the day. I would recommend making an appointment if you plan on going during the weekend. This was my first time at this salon and I'll definitely be back! 10/10 definitely recommend!

Not the best, not the worst. Pros: great pricing and the staff is always friendly, and they work fast on your nails once they start. Cons: an appointment doesn't really do anything for you. The only times I've been able to be sat right away was when I looked on google to see the slow times of the day, and scheduled my appointment for the slowest time. If you come at a busy time you can expect to wait about 30 minutes (sometimes even longer) even with an appointment. They don't take into consideration appointments when walk ins come in and overbook themselves. Also, it's kind of luck of the draw for who does your nails and their skill level. One young vcu student with long straight brunette hair does nails incredibly, as does the woman who I think owns the place. I would trust them with super glammed out acrylics... but everyone else that works there I would only trust to do basic gel or regular polish nails. I'm used to parallel parking in the city, so that's not a negative for me, but some others may not be. So just know they don't have any parking, street parking only!

Second time coming here and again was so impressed had the dip powder taken off and did a gel manicure, Jessica was amazing ! Didn't schedule an appointment and just walked in, was seen within 5 minutes per usual!

I'm spending the summer at VCU for an internship. Naturally, I'm huge about getting my nails done. This time I was really serious about it because of how much I'd be interacting with people and how many miles I'd be walking around campus on days that we have work. One of the students I supervise told me about this place when I complimented her on her nails! I didn't make an appointment, and instead walked in on a late Monday morning. I was greeted by Ann (Anh or An, spelling is probably wrong, my bad!) and she went to work on my nails right away. She is SO sweet! We talked about our siblings and I met her son. We also talked about how she bakes as well. For my first time, she made me feel SUPER comfortable. She did my gel manicure which I love. Mary did my pedicure, and I love it as well. I noticed one of my nails had a weird look to it, and I asked her about it and she said it was a fungus (lol, yikes). But she suggested a certain type of medicine/cream and that I wear sandals instead of shoes. I danced a lot growing up so I know the nails on my feet aren't that great but by the end of the pedicure I felt so much better. Also, if you bring your VCU ID you get a discount! I definitely plan on coming back to this place while I'm in Richmond. Don't let the appearance of this place fool you. Though it's not big inside, the place is warm, welcoming, cozy, and clean.

Before she even gets started, she takes the time to check in about what I want to do with my nails, what my nail goals are (whether I want to keep them shorter, focus on strengthening them, etc.), and what type of manicure or pedicure I'm looking for so we can make sure it's something she's able to do and that we're on the same page. Throughout the the appointment, she will continue to check in to make sure I'm comfortable, enjoying my experience, and happy with how everything is coming together (shape, length, color, etc.). I also really appreciate that this welcoming experience goes beyond just Rachel. Everyone at Holy Chic goes out of their way to make me feel comfortable, says hello when you enter the salon, talks/engages with me, and overall makes me feel welcome whenever I'm there. To begin, it is advertised as a professional salon and services are advertised to come with consultations. I am not entirely sure what the consultation was supposed to entail but I did not receive anything. Upon walking in the front desk girl was quite off putting and I will say I felt a bit micro aggressed by her. I repeatedly told her I was here for a 2:15 appointment booked in my boyfriend's name (I said his name and how to pronounce it) and she insisted on butchering his name several times. Wasn't a fan of that. Then on came the pedicure, my appointment was scheduled with WanWan, it was going great until it came time to get my French pedicure. I showed her an image of exactly how I liked it and what I received was nothing like it. I tried to show her an example off of he internet and she apprehensively mentioned that the photo is AI and in real life it's never going to be that perfect. I proceeded to letting her know that I get French frequently and I can pull up a photo of what I like my nails to look like. You would think for a 75$ pedicure the techs would be able to mimic a sample photo and not try and convince you it's AI and that you should accept sub par work (I'll add a photo of what I got in the attachments) she asked me if I wanted a solid color instead ... and I mentioned I only chose this shade of pink under the pretenses that I was getting French. She brings over the g colors which while looking at the gel colors and picked one she let me know they may not even have that color. Bear in mind at this point I already had he pink on my toes from the French. She also said she will add the new color on top of what was on my nails which was annoying. Also she asked me if I wanted another design I asked for sample photos of pedicure designs she's done and she had none to show me. She showed me all manicures. She told me she doesn't take photos of peoples feet because she feels weird about it or something and doesn't want to photograph peoples toes. I accepted that, though with consent I don't understand the issue. Anyway as this ordeal continued she both took a picture of the photo of my foot on my phone and then SNUCK a photo of my actual foot in the moment as if I didn't see it. My thing is I didn't care but you made it a thing as to why you don't take photos of peoples feet and then you take a photo of mine without my consent. I let it rock because honestly I was just trying to get out of there but it really rubbed me the wrong way. Overall at this point just annoyed as she tried to redo the tip 3-4x with no improvement. She also cut my grown out toenails all weird so they were no longer perfectly square. Again for $75 you would think the techs are capable of just doing a simple line. Eventually once I spoke with a manager WanWan gets swapped out for Lotus (she was amazing! And she tried her best to make sure I was happy with my mani pedi) wish I had her from the start. I truly felt bad because her whole afternoon got derailed due to this mess. I was so over being there that I didn't even bother getting gel on my hands so just got a clean up mani which also cost $35... all in all I feel like I just wasted 5 hours of my life I cannot lie. A bit frustrated overall but I am happy with how my toes came out (THABK GOD FOR LOTUS). I probably wouldn't come back here if I wanted French, and honestly if you're paying $95 for a service like this I feel like you would expect a certain level of professionalism and capability? Idk. Praise Lotus though. I will say proper customer service would have offered me some sort of discount or something for all the inconveniences but no I was stuck with a $95 bill. Which I paid it but I also had 5 hours wasted down the drain as previously stated I probably won't come back, might have considered it if they offered me something for the inconvenience but all in all it is what it is at this point. All in all way too overpriced for the kind of service you receive.

My pedicure service began at about 5:25 p.m. and it was over by 5:45 p.m. I've never in my decades of pedicures gotten a 20 minute pedicure. They're usually 45-60 minutes! She zipped through it so quickly, paying no particular attention to the anything. Miraculously, the end result looked okay, so again, I wasn't too bothered. After my pedicure was finished, she started working on another client (taking her sweet time)... and didn't come back to me for a full 50 minutes to look at my nails. She said it was 30 minutes. I corrected her. It was another 10 (a full hour) before she actually started working on my dip. She apologized for the wait, but once again, she zipped through my dip so quickly... a mere 25 minutes when it's normally 65-75! I mean, why work so fast now? There were no other clients. Take your time with my nails and do a good job! She cut my nails way too short. She did next to nothing with my cuticles. And my final result shows ridges and file marks in my nails! She said she could fix it and asked me to come back tomorrow. WHAT?! You want me to waste MORE of my time so you can do what you should've done the first time? Hell to the no!
