Haven't gotten my nails done since March & honestly was hesitant to go now. But, in my search for a place that made me feel comfortable, Fusion's caught my eye. Not only were the reviews great & the photos of their work were nice too, I saw someone say that they require a pre-screening via email & you wait in your car until they're ready for you. All were proven to be true & I appreciated the multiple email/text updates. All the COVID precautions are sent, everyone is wearing masks and gloves, the pedicure stations have plexiglass between you & the provider and they space you out unless you're with a friend. Another plus for me was the affordable prices, even with their increases in rates (thanks to covid)... their gel manicures are $35 and they only do regular pedicures (no gel) for $35. Many competitors in this area are taxing for these basic services & I'm over it. Anyway, I had a very great experience despite the changes. Everything is clean, they sanitize immediately after each person. They make you wash your hands prior to service & they pick your polish for you (to limit touching). I got lucky once and was able to get in within 10 minutes. Cody did my pedi and they don't do gel pedi so I was skeptical that it would last. Plus they do not line their foot tub with plastic so, I was a little nervous about nail fungus and any other bacteria from entering my skin or nails. But the pedi lasted a month and my feet was ok. So I chanced it and went back again and got lucky that they were able to squeeze me in for a pedi and gel mani. I also and went ahead and booked my next two appointments. The pedi didn't last as long but the gel mani did. But the lady (totally forgot her name too) helped me picked a red that I love!! By my third time, first appointment, I'm sold by this place. I love that they have so many repeat clients and their quality of work is really good. And I'm especially in love with my most recent Christmas themed nail and how she shaped my nails. Ok, so my fiancée was 15 minutes late to her appointment for a manicure. Since we also did not explain clearly enough that she wanted 2 fake nails they were unable to accommodate and were very rude. Regardless of the poor experience and miscommunication my one star relates to to the intense and overpowering and overwhelming toxic chemicals that saturated the whole place. I could not breathe and kept coughing for hours afterwards and I was only in there for 10 minutes. The mask just made it worse. Could never recommend this place. My coworker had been raving about how good they were for the last month but I was not willing to bend. I love my current nail salon and nail tech but I recently moved and the salon is not near my job or current home now so sometimes it is a bit of a hassle. Fusion Nail Spa is full of amazing, skilled nail technicians. There are tons of nail and pedicure stations but you MUST make a reservation. This place stays booked and busy. I was wondering why none of these women were at work on a Wednesday afternoon, that is how crowded it was. I had the pleasure of having Rose take care of me and my precious nails. I am really picky about my nails but from the minute I sat in that seat Rose and I were in sync. She was hilarious and knew immediately how I liked my nails. She was beyond professional and talented. We were chatting like old girlfriends at a high school reunion. The end result of appointment was pure satisfaction. My nails were perfect in every way. I was hooked like a fat kid to cake. I booked my appointment for my pedicure for 2 days later and even went ahead and booked my appointment for upcoming birthday vacation. Phenomenal! I moved to RVA about a year ago and I've had such a hard time finding a good nail salon. Chris did an amazing job on my pedicure and acrylic nails. Pedicure - it was the best one I've had in MONTHS! Acrylics - I asked him to change the nail shape from coffin to almond and he did them perfectly. He was patient and took his time. He also asked if I liked everything before he moved onto something else. And let's not forget the color choice selection. There were so many options I had to pick two lol! I don't know why it took me so long to try this place out! Such a great experience. The reviews are correct, this salon is a community. The manicurists know their clients, and many of the clients know each other as well. It creates such a warm environment. I got a regular manicure and it lasted for about 8 full days, no chipping! That never happens. Usually when I get a regular manicure, it starts to chip 2 days later. My next service was a gel manicure that lasted almost 4 full weeks! It would have lasted longer, but the re-growth wasn't looking cute. I have also had my brows done here, and they were done very well. Will definitely be back! read more

I've been going to this spa ever since my very first time getting my nails done, which was back in 2016. Yes, I was 20 years old when I first got my nails done and they definitely did not disappoint. They make you feel like family and my gel manicures last for weeks. They are all very professional and quite kind. Conversing with them is very therapeutic and it might be silly to say but they've been there for every major milestone in my life as they all watched me grow up. My friend and I came here on a Saturday, I called in the morning for an appointment and there was only 2 6:30 slots left, so we took them. When we arrived, we were able to immediately choose our colors and sit down. Chris was my nail technician, and he was great! He really took his time adding an extension to a broken nail and then adding an acrylic overlay to my others. He always made sure all of my nails were even before moving into the next step. My nails turned out amazing and they couldn't be any better. Just for an idea - my manicure was $30 for the gel & $15 for the acrylic overlay! I love this salon and the amazing nail technicians. All of the lady technicians are super sweet, and the guy technicians are funny and always brighten your mood. It's a very comfortable and clean atmosphere. There's no nail salon in the Richmond area better, in my opinion. As others have noted, make an appt because every walk-in I've seen has gotten turned away (they should probably state this) but prices are reasonable and everyone is so friendly. They do an extremely professional job -- it was about $35-40 for my pedicure a couple of days ago (I can't remember!) but it included basically a fifteen minute leg massage (just included in a regular pedicure). They have TONS of Essie and OPI nail colors and have the full rainbow spectrum of colors but have like 30 or more types of reds to choose from -- just an amazing selection of colors that you actually want to wear. They also usually have the latest selection of OPI on the front desk. As stated above, everyone is extremely friendly here and as others note, you feel like home. No, I don't think they offer you anything to drink and don't serve any alcohol but the prices, which I think are low, reflect that. The chairs for pedicures are massage chairs. In the manicure area they have a main large TV -- when I was there two days ago it was tuned into Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Also, the location is wonderful, at the edge of Carytown so tons of shops and restaurants on the street. They do not have a parking lot but I've never had to walk more than a block (or two, max) as the area behind is residential and has tons of street parking on both sides of the streets. read more

I am taking the time to write this long AZZ review because I hope that it helps - prospective clients in the near future and the business in the long run. I have patronized this business several times over the last 7 months and received decent service - no - Cathy pays no attention to the underside of your nails - and sometimes seems to be rushed - but overall my experience was "OK". My shellac/gel nails would last up to 3 weeks - I use gloves when I clean my kitchen, etc. I thought we had developed a rapport. I tip 20% - no matter what. I would typically make appointments for times during the week and take a long lunch break or come after work. I had been unable to get an appointment with Cathy and finally was able to get one for 4:30 on Saturday....or at least that's what I was told. This Saturday, I was bringing my 11 yr. old son with me, and coming into town from Chesterfield and not from work nearby in downtown Richmond. I wound up running about 10 minutes late for the appointment - just because of regular Saturday chaos. I called the salon at 4:39 PM and told the person that answered that I was running late for my 4:30 PM appointment with Cathy and was right out front, parking. The person snickered a little and said 'OK'. I didn't think the snicker was directed at me.... As I was opening the door to my car, to let my son out, my phone rang and it was Cathy. In 35 seconds, she was very curt, rude and nasty, stating that my appointment was at 4:00 and not 4:30, and she had already moved to another client. She chirped, "You have missed other appointments", "this isn't the first time." (At this point I am shocked, and bewildered but trying to think of what she is talking about - seconds later, remembering one appointment that I missed due to a last minute meeting at work....) She continued, "you can try walking in to get me - but I won't take any more appointments from you! I spend 1 and a half hours on your services and when you don't show up, ......blah blah .....( I don't remember exactly what she said, before she hung up on me. Man, I couldn't believe how she spoke to me....Wow!!!! I wasn't given a chance to respond - bull dozed! No questions asked about me. I sent her a screen shot of the appointment through Facebook messenger and wished her the best... (Yes, we were 'Friends' on Facebook.) No response from her. A day later, still bewildered over the experience, I remembered that I had a medical emergency on Monday July 9th, the week of my previous scheduled appointment. It was serious and I wounded up being hospitalized for a week, and undergoing surgery. I called and cancelled my appointment 2 days prior the appointment from my hospital bed. (I checked my phone record.) Yes - this is a lot to do - but, I was really baffled at how Cathy treated me. Maybe the person that answered the phone didn't tell Cathy. Who knows. My 2 cents: I enter all appointments in my calendar - while I am on the phone with the establishment....so your appointment maker person needs to be checked. If a client doesn't show on time for a nail appointment, take another person and the client should have to wait, go to another technician (if available) or reschedule. Why do you take phone numbers if you aren't going to call a regular client to confirm or check on them if they don't show? Apparently, there is some presumption that people make appointments that they don't intend to keep. - If so, stop taking appointments. This salon charges a premium for services....approximately 30 percent more than most salons in the area. Based on good the reviews.....with the sprinkling of negative ones, which all tend to be related to similar experiences of rude, nastiness, I think the workers and owners at Fusion Nail Spa, or maybe just Cathy, need some humbling, and understanding that there are 99 nail salons per 2 miles in the area and they need to be cognizant of that. ...and it must be noted that there are probably hundreds of other experiences - both negative and positive which clients just haven't bothered to provide accounts of here. People generally don't like to write.....I do. Yes - you do good work, but If I had to choose, I'd rather patronize a place that appreciates their customers and are more caring and courteous - even if the polish selection is limited or the workers don't work as quickly. Getting a manicure and or pedicure is NOT a requirement. Don't act like you care, when you don't. Don't be so cocky. People have choices with how and where they spend their coins. Remember people may not remember anything about you - but they will remember how you made them feel. Do better. I am so incredibly impressed by this place. By far Lisa has done the best nails I have ever gotten. Not only did she do an outstanding job on the nails them selves but she was meticulous and made my experience amazing (she was quite funny and didn't make the experience quiet or awkward). Every nail is perfect none of them are too thick nor are they a different shape from the others. I went in for coffin shaped acrylic nails. I am very particular about how I'd like my nails, after one visit I can surely say I will definitely be back. The place was clean and the staff are all very sweet. Although yelp says you can just walk in instead of making an appointment I would absolutely suggest making one as they are constantly busy from what I can tell. I called yesterday and asked if they had any available appointments and I'm glad that I did not just walk in as they did not have any available yesterday. On the phone they were very respectful and informed me that they could however fit me in the following day. Lisa was ready for me at my appointment time and was very helpful. In the past I have experienced from other salons the technicians would pressure me or hassle me about getting gel or other services provided at the salon. I did not experience that here. From what I can tell based on how the staff treated other clients in the salon they are someone from what I can tell based on how the staff treated other clients in the salon, this salon has a lot of returning clientele. The only downside to Fusion is that it's difficult to get in as a walk-in; but I actually take that as a positive. They've got so many return clients/regulars, they're booked up! I've never received anything but top-notch service here. The nail techs do quality work and they care whether you're happy with your nails. Any minor issues I've had (which were just personal preference, no professional mis-step) were addressed and fixed immediately. All the employees are professional, communicate clearly, and do great work. The space is clean and welcoming. Yes, they charge a "premium" but if you have an issue with that, check the autoclave practices of the places that charge you $5 less for a mani.
