The fries look like they came directly from the freezer and into the fryer. The chicken in my salad looked like it was cooked and refrigerated 3 days ago. My kids pizza looked microwaved. The food wasn't completely bad but in this day and age it should be fresh. read more

I have to commend Lulu, the hostess for getting my take out order correctly!! The past few days I was visiting other cities during the Sturgis rally and I had no luck with substitued food entrees, since I have dietary restrictions. BUT LULU,WAS RIGHT ON!! I had ordered a taco salad, no beef, can you substitute for turkey instead? Yes we can do that. Also I wanted Spaghetti, no meat. This is a GEM in the middle of the Sturgis bike rally! The food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is great! All of the servers wear costumes, and there is an a great balcony upstairs to people watch along the main drag of Keystone South Dakota. read more

We had a nice simple meal. Were there for the Rally, and given the crowds I thought they handled it well. Order came our right, and hot. Trout was one of the best. My husband got prime rib and I got filet mignon, both cooked perfectly and tasted great. The mashed potatoes were horrible and tasted like the potatoes were frozen and the gravy tasted like it came from a can. After seeing Mt Rushmore, we wanted to stop somewhere local for lunch. Not much was open in this small Western town, but I'm glad this place was! The atmosphere is cool, and the service was great. We thought it was a little strange that we had to order alcohol separately (with a bartender from the bar next door), but it all worked out! The bartender came right over to our table and took our order. He and our server were both extremely friendly and personable. Our beer was good, and the food was good. The wait was not very long. When we were seated the waitress came to take our order when we wanted a beer she said the "Saloon Girl " would come to take that order, she never showed up. The food was ordered and the salads came in a timely manner. However our main course took very long and came after other tables who ordered after us. The steak was over cooked and very chewy. This is a good place to stop for a drink but the food is very pricey and low quality, mostly a tourist trap luring you in with a great location. I had the trout and it was overcooked and fishy, probably frozen not fresh. My husband had a prime rib sandwich with stringy and fatty meat, pretty much inedible. Service was friendly and attentive. Waiter was quick and friendly. Food was below average. We had the "Flowering Onion" as an appetizer...it was over cooked and tough. Kids had the "Tortellini Baked Pasta" it was frozen tortellini out of a bag w/ sticky cheesy tasteless sauce poured over it. I had a Huckleberry Chicken Salad....it was average. My husband had the Smothered Burrito and he said it was "ok". We had 4 sodas. Our bill came to $81.00. Expensive for what we got IMO. read more

This place gets two out of five because the staff was good, otherwise it would get one. The food was horrible! This was the worst food on our ten day trip. The salads we ordered tasted like and looked like cafeteria slop (or my wife called it jail slop). Also over-heard the table next to us make a comment about the looks of their food. We only ate here because we were in Keystone during the off-season and there was nothing else really open. We were supposed to stay in Keystone two nights but after eating here and being let-down buy our hotel stay, we checked out early and headed elsewhere. Oh, the salads cost $14.00 each.......ridiculous. I got better food for cheaper during the entire trip. read more

This place is a must, and I was so looking forward to this place after doing some research online, like the nerd that I am I research everything before a trip. The bison steak, which was just like any other kind of meat, was fantastic. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The decor was as it sounds ruby colored and I mean a lot of things were ruby colored. It was casual, and reasonably priced. The one part that was weird was that any alcoholic drinks had to be purchased separately from a waitress coming around solely offering drinks. The wine choices were adequate, but overall a good experience and if in the area I would make a point to come back! Great atmosphere and very good food. Seeing as we were in South Dakota, me and my wife decided to try out some Buffalo. She got a buffalo stew bread bowl, and I got a buffalo chopped steak. They both tasted incredible! However, the fries were pretty bland, and all drinks were served by a wandering waitress from the Saloon next door (which was really strange). My girls and I were travelling in the area. We chose Ruby House based on other reviews on multiple sites. The setting is nice. They have captured the old west theme of the area. It felt clean and organized even though it was busy. As a person with celiac, eating out is always a gamble for me. I was able to eat the Chicken Huckleberry Salad without issue and our server understood what I needed. My vegetarian teenager was also able to enjoy a good meal. I felt prices were very reasonable. Maybe even a smigde low for a tourist area, but I'm not complaining! Good food, good prices, good service. read more

This is one of my girls favorite places in the world to eat because they have steak on the kids menu. She felt so grown up and special having her own mini steak. It's one of the only restaurants open off season in keystone so plan to wait a bit-which it really not a problem when you plan for it! It's very old fashion feel. read more

Ruby's was recommended to us by the hotel we stayed at while visiting Keystone. I have to say, it was really good! I ordered the buffalo stew in a bread bowl, and it was huge! Tasted great, and the bread bowl was some of the best sourdough bread I've had in a long time. My daughter got the buffalo burger, and inhaled it! The decor of the restaurant is also very unique and fun to look at. Or server was very nice and helpful in her recommendations. It's a little on the pricy side, but worth it. I had the buffalo ribeye. It was as flavorful and tender as one could hope for. The salad and bread were standard fare but good. What impressed us was how efficient the staff was. We had about a 10-15 minute wait for a table. Once inside we watched a well oiled system for keeping things moving. One thing of note is that bar service is from a different business. If you want something alcoholic with your meal, you can anticipate two bills. read more
