In that busy little town it was a nice place to sit and have a steak. Cool atmosphere. Chocolate molton cake was a nice finisher.

Visited mid June...best food the entire trip. Steak wonderful, good sides, friendly staff.

We were trying to enjoy a vacation in Keystone, SD. Tonight we ate at Ruby House service was good and the food is good. But while eating our dinner the flies were bad as crap. They kept flying all over and finally they landed on our food and my wife's straw for her lemonade. It was finally enough we asked for the manager. The girl behind the hostess counter said she was. Which we found out from our waitress she was only a supervisor so our waitress went to get manager. After about 15 minutes the manager finally came to here our concerns. He told us they have problems with the flies but he said they have something over the front door to keep the flies out but the 3 times we went in and out of the front door the blower was not on. My wife had to try to eat her food with napkins over her food just to keep the flies off of it. The manager said he would say something to the owner. I only wish the health inspector would have seen what we had to deal with. But when we finally left the blower was on go figure, how shitty is that! Also by the way yesterday for dinner we at the Powder House great food & service but they didn't have flies landing on our food. That is what good restaurant do! read more

Decided to give this place a try our first night in Keystone. About a 20 minute wait at 6pm on a mon evening. Buzzer works in town so you can walk around. Cure decor. ..Clean. Quite varied menu should fit almost any taste Entrees Both the trout and Walleye simply prepared and properly cooked. We liked that the preparation was low in salt which is hard to find when vacationing. The rice pilaf tasted like the box mix but was fine. Salad and broccoli fine. Service prompt and pleasant. Prices reasonable for a full sit down dinner in a tourist area. read more

We eat here about once a year on our annual trip to the Black Hills. It's a fun atmosphere with food that is alright. The prices are a bit on the high side, but welcome to the hills. The kids love the "crap on the walls" and generally speaking the food is acceptable. This is one of the better options in the Keystone area. read more

The ambiance of this restaurant was the most appealing part of our visit. It is like a being in an old western town with all of the flair! We had steaks and they were so-so. They were not cooked like we ordered, and the house salad and baked potatoes were skimpy. The staff was dressed in clothing from the period and they were very friendly. My husband and I ate here after hiking and exploring the area. Apparently you have two servers - one for the bar and one for the restaurant along with two separate checks. After our meal I paid for both the bar and restaurant check. We got up and we were about two businesses down from the restaurant and the bar server "chased" me down saying I didn't pay for the bar tab. I said I did and walked back to the table and both signed tickets were still laying on the table. I handed the tickets to the bar server to prove I did. I was VERY embarrassed because he accused me of not paying in front of all the people around us. No apologizes from him at all. They need to implement some better customer service training. read more

Great local bar & restaurant. Lisa the owner is very out going and has kept this family business going. Opened in the 60's. I had the Ruby Burger and was one of the best I ever had. Wife had chicken fried chicken w/ with mashed taters & gravy and loved it. It's a real eclectic place but well worth it. Highly recommend. Ask for Lisa to say hi! read more

really wanted to give it 3.5 stars but couldn't get it to work. I had prime rib sandwich. it was huge and very tasty. husband had trout (local and fresh) and was very pleased. having said that, the down side was the service was not good. for some reason, drinks come from the bar (attached to restaurant) but from separate server. took forever, finally ordered, then took forever to be delivered. my sandwich was supposed to come with both au jus and horsey sauce. didn't get the sauce and waitress never came back to check. tried asking 3 different bus/servers but none apparently spoke enough English to understand what horsey sauce was. I got tobacco, worcestershire sauce, etc but didn't get the actual sauce till 1/2 way thru. all in all, considering the options, it's still worth trying. read more

We went to a couple different places before. One was closed and another didn't look good. We was walking by and decided to stop in here. Such a good choice. Our waitress deb was great! Food was amazing. Had the sirloin and my friend had the teriyaki chicken. Both were so good! The price and quality of food was a good price. read more

The atmosphere here is really great, it is a fun Wild West Saloon. The signature Red Garter cocktail is a must, if only to just to take a picture of it. Servers were great, food was your average American fare.. Ribs, burgers etc but not bad! We were there for lunch with kids but I would love to have been able to go back at night for the live entertainment.... I would definitely check it out, sit inside for more atmosphere. read more

Interesting decor with pictures and items depicting the old west. Service was prompt and friendly. The menu offered a excellent selection of salads as well as steaks and trout. They had a nice variety on the menu, but the food quality was hit and miss. The kids got fish and chips which was good. I got the featured berry salad, which was pretty bland. The atmosphere was the best part.. nice patio seating, and if you wanted to eat inside the dining room was pretty cool. Also friendly waitstaff and pretty good service. read more

I have eaten here many times my anaversary is Aug 7th that is during the rally so we have a tradition to eat at the Ruby House it's just excellent I always have the filet mignon so I know it's great. If you like fine foods you must go there. read more

Very satisfied. Good value for the $ Arrived at 4:30 on a Sunday and were seated immediately, our waitress was very prompt greeting us. Food was better than expected for a touristy place. We had a very positive experience where we could relax a bit, the two kids were happy and the adults had a chance to breath while feeling like you were being properly taken care of. Recommended by our hotel staff. I think it was just for the ambience. The food was very disappointing. My hamburger looked like a frozen Costco patty. We were told to go here by the lady working at the front desk of our hotel. Food was good. Atmosphere was neat. Decor was cool. Lots of stuff on the walls to look at. We all had sandwiches. Hearty portions. My son and I had leftovers. The bar is attached and at one point someone closed the access to the bar. I think they were performing a gun/bar fight show and didn't want to disturb the restaurant patrons. Beer selection was ok but they had something I liked. The only thing that was a little annoying is the server for our food was different than the server for our drinks because we ordered alcohol. We had two separate bills to pay. We really enjoyed our dinner at the Ruby House. Pizza and sandwiches abound on Main Street Keystone, but if you would like a great meal with interesting decor this is your place. Husband had a fry bread taco which was delicious and I had the ribs which were very good and that's high praise from a Memphis girl where BBQ ribs are the best. My party of four stopped here on our way to Rushmore. The menu is pretty typical family restaurant. My chicken salad was really good. Someone said their ribeye was the best they had in a while. The beer is served by burlesque women due to the liquor laws in the area. They came by frequently. We sat on the patio, it was nice to watch the town. read more

Just slap a "Tourist" sticker on my forehead and give me a number! If you're looking for healthy fare, tasteful decor and your pride, this place will make you grumpy. But, it's the perfect place to express your inner cheesiness. (Especially with the help of a beer.) They serve up some decent bison stew here...although a pretty small portion for the price.
