My coworker and I went to Ruby's and this was my first time there. The food was really good and fresh, the pepper steak was tender and the gravy was seasoned well. I especially liked the broccoli salad and the fresh fruit. It was very crowded with graduates, but we were seated and had no problem enjoying the food. We are going back real soon. Last but not least the price wasn't bad at all. read more

I got there first at 2pm before the other 8 guests in my party and I noticed there were a few graduates who were celebrating with their friends and families. I watched people coming in from the time I got there and it never stopped. The staff never approached me the whole time as I sat in the first seat from the main door. That's when I noticed they were ignoring us in favor of the smaller groups that were constantly coming in. Money over manners I guess. Anyway, when we complained about not being seated, they told us we couldn't sit where we were seated the last time we were here... 3 weeks ago! So, to end what could be a much longer story, we were finally seated... AT THE SAME TABLES WE HAD BEFORE!!! Conclusion: Had they just been cordial and polite, you wouldn't be reading this flame... Food was so good. Food was so good in fact, I spent the rest of my night in the bathroom.

Food is okay but not so good. I like oysters but for some reason it is yellowish and taste really bad. The worst part is the bus lady demanding 15%-18% tip!!! And will give you BAD look to intimidate you. This is not fine dine in it is self serve buffet!!! Beware! read more

I used to LOVE this place~ That is before I discovered a plethora of other choices that were available around me~ As normal, don't expect any type of friendly service at a Chinese buffet, but the food isn't that bad. If you are in the area, definitely a decent place to have a fairly nice meal. If I lived closer to this area, I would probably visit at least twice a month~ read more

We thoroughly enjoyed this buffet. There were good seafood varieties, such as steamed snow crab legs (which there was a line for, because they just didn't put in enough on the buffet at one time), craw fish, a selection of other shell fish, and shrimp. They also had a good variety of non seafood items, soups, stir fries, and sushi. I was also impressed with the selection of fruit and side salads they had, but was disappointed with their dessert options. The tapioca needed more coconut milk and tasted very starchy, there were three kinds of cake, one without icing (this looked like a Chinese honey cake). They also had soft serve once cream in vanilla and a chocolate, but there is a surcharge if you wasted the ice cream. The service was good, and they cleared the table frequently. read more

I was @ this location last night with my family from out of town... not only did they reach for the payment before we sat down but they tried to count an 11 month old child as a full person we were 9 she counted 10 I don't know if they charged me It didn't matter then they said they didn't take American express, they finally allowed us to sit which was 8:30pm and they advertise that they close @ 9:30pm but they hostess began to complain about us arriving late I said these people are from out of town. When we started to make our plates the floor staff began crowding around us as to almost block certain dishes I had never seen anything like it the standoffish energy they were really bent on making us feel uncomfortable. When we all started to sit and eat before some of the children finished their plates they were snatching plates from the table over the backs of the children I said enough. I had had enough I told the young lady allow these children to eat before you start grabbing their plates children play over food and take their time. We had had enough but we paid now we had to eat . But any one reading these were the most disrespectful people to ever serve in this buffet style restaurant I would tell especially black people don't go to this location because you know they treated us this way because we were black and I said it . Food was good but the service is unacceptable. I understand tipping to your waiters and servers but they literally dont do anything but grab the plate from the table and stand around Nd gossip. When it was time to pay i left what i thought was a good tip for what they did and the lady that took the money comes and says that it wasnt enough and she wouldnt leave till she got more that it was "required " ! Waste your money somewhere else we not going back there with that kind of service and you guys should too ! read more

I have eaten here in the past and remember the quality being significantly better. No crab legs anymore and the sushi looks like it should not be eaten, as the slices of fish look like they are rotten. Maybe if your into crawfish there are plenty but I don't like those. It's good chinese buffet compared with other brands, but it was difficult to ask for drinks. Area was fine, and food was nice in my opinion.

Yesterday 4/30/23 - It's a huge all you can eat buffet with 200 items to choose from and basically $20 a person with tip. I wasn't expecting much but my daughter , her room mate , and myself enjoyed it. Food was replaced quickly , we were not hassled at all about tips or leaving quickly ( some reviews said this ) , and food was okay to pretty good. This experience was pretty much exactly what I expected and for the price.....worth it. I want to go back to see why so many people were having the crawdads. read more

This is a great buffet to eat at. Lots of variety, very tasty, some seafood and ribs, this is well made food. Couple of good desserts and ice cream as well. Ruby Buffet - Buffets Near Me - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Last night dinner devours took me to Ruby buffet in the grand section of lower South philly! The buffet is very diverse with all types of Asian cuisine including Asian seafood. I would've had a great time and our server Cristal was simply amazing and very tentative. Have you ever find yourself near Columbus Boulevard and Washington Avenue with a big appetite you should definitely check that spot out. #buffet #chinese #asian #asiancuisine #goodeats #philadelphia #philly #lemonade #pinklemonade #crablegs #shrimp #octupus #squid #fish #rice #vegetables #spice #food #foodphotography #foodporn #foodgasm read more

i made the mistake of ignoring previous reviews trust me. The service is terrible if you're African American I recommend you not to go here you get talked about and watched with everything you do. My experience for President's Day was good here at the buffet with no Hibachi Grill. Just before dark families seem to be leaving happy wile had Sea Bass with sundry buffet items. 2nd time on Thursday: Lunch was better switching out chicken with Red Snapper. Then Hostest "Emma" sat behind me and ate like a horse with real sounds plus some woman patron was yelling crazy sexual things, no one knows why? Mr Peanut looked alittle disappointed. For President's Day I didn't eat like a tourist in Philadelphia. From The Visitor Center I walked along the Waterfront monuments plus three old ships and submarine just short of 2 miles. By dark I found the number of choices for Mr Peanut and myself. read more

Eh, like really...Eh. The food wasn't horrible. Platatanos más duro were sweet and fresh every time...Korean style fried chicken was fresh e'ry rip (every time in Urban Chicago vernacular) the fried rice was fried rice...fried catfish nuggets were unexpectedly good..seafood was there but I didn't try any crab legs, the red snapper in fruit sauce was cold...the green beans were tasty desserts flawed, ice cream yummy. Gloves were there for the using but many people were glove free and unmasked. I worry about my unvaccinated friend that accompanied me. But proceeded to MAX, mission accomplished, I left there full and satisfied. I was there on a Sunday and the drinks aren't free...I am b/w taking away a star. Large selection of Asian and western dishes. Classic and oysters on the half shelf. Good sushi selection. Great value. Staff is awesome.

Let's face a fact. Chinese buffet experiences are rarely gourmet experiences. But the difference between a good one and a bad one is pretty easy to tell. You can just tell if the ownership generally doesn't know what they are doing when it comes to quality. In fact, I recently had a pretty bad experience at a local buffet. But after eating at this particular buffet, I want to find the owner of the bad experience I had, and take him to dinner here so I can show him how his food should taste. Such as, you see the roasted chicken here? It has nice crispy skin and natural juices, not the soggy mess you gave me drenched in grease. See the wonton soup here? The wontons are nice and soft, not dry and chewy. See the sushi? It's been kept fresh by an actual sushi chef, not from some employee who makes it when they feel like. Bottom line is, after randomly coming here yesterday because we were in the area for the Bruce concert and saw the billboard on 95, I was quite impressed by the quality they gave me. This is definitely on the higher end of Chinese buffets, and in many ways better than a lot of the local take out places which can be so hit or miss. No, it ain't Chinatown, and it ain't Han Dynasty. But it's really good for what it is. read more

We wanted to go to lunch on the way to Home Depot, so I suggested buffet. This place had a decent rating for a buffet, so we stopped in. I thought it was really nice inside and I was pretty impressed with the variety and number of selections. We got there at the same time as a big group of older Asians and trying to get food from the buffet with them, was interesting. They cut you off and then proceeded to take one spoon, stay in one place and reach across/sideways to get their food from multiple entrees. At the end, several dishes were missing the spoons, while others had multiple spoons. The food itself was tasty although lukewarm. Service was attentive. Price was pretty reasonable for the 3 of us. I would definitely go back and try it again. read more

One day great debate and gladiatorial dominance of eating will join forces in one Epic Chinese Buffet Eat Off Debate (it seriously must happen!). And if it does Ruby Buffet may very well be the Colosseum where it occurs! Columbus Boulevard is an epicenter of sin: Its filled with greed, lust, wrath, envy, and then some. And that's not even factoring in any of the sin that happens inside the towing and impoundment center of the PPA! and when you factor in the basic Chinese food, sushi, chicken wings, crab legs, SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM, and more that you'll find inside, Ruby Buffet is the true epicenter of gluttony! The rude and greedy folks definitely tend to swarm around things like the higher end seafood products. And it can get insanely packed and overcrowded during prime weekend hours. But on a buffet standpoint Ruby is much better than the average one. In the end you might feel gross over the fact that you managed to go through at least 3 plates of Krampus knows what! But you'll still find the gusto to top it off with a good helping of ice cream. read more

Food selection is a joke ! My family and I were harassed for a tip. We were only there for 20min at best before the workers started to hover over the table and ask "are y'all done " . Like what ?! Food came out to 99$ , two adults , a toddler and two 10 year olds . Seems a bit pricey but it's inflation . We proceed to pay the bill and the guy quickly ! And I mean quickly let us know tip wasn't included. I tip based on service . I tip baes on experience. Unless any of those workers signed my check I refuse to be told how to spend my money !!! I told the man don't ask for a tip , that's so rude . He says ... I don't care . Lol well , no tip and loss of business. I'll be sure to spread the word . Some years ago this used to be one of my favorite buffets. Man have times changed. I thought at some point that I may have started to get sick & tired of the food here and decided to give it a long awaited and necessary break. Well I'm back people only to wish that i would've stayed away longer. Now my perception of this restaurant is worse than before. I can assure you that i will never ever waste my hard earned money here again. I can stick my fingerz down my throat and bring up something better that this decorated vomit they're serving. Stick a fork in it, this place is a wrap. Chicken was hard & overcooked and tasted like wood. The butter for my crabs was yellow like butter but tasted like oil. Nothing satisfied or brought any pleasure to my pallet. Sorry Ruby's but you lost a good customer forever. read more

Ruby Buffet - Wooded chicken wing - Buffets Near Me - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

I thought the Chinese buffet in my town was the best after I visited so many different Chinese buffets around, but after I visited Ruby buffet, it changed my mind. Ruby buffet is the best Chinese buffet I've been for the price. It's $6.99 for lunch on Mon-Fri, $8.99 for brunch on Sat, and $11.99 for dinner and Sunday whole day. I had their $8.99 brunch last Sat. The restaurant is very big and clean, everything looks pretty new. I don't know why some people said it's dirty, but for me, it's the cleanest Chinese buffet I've ever been, especially for the price. Food is nice and fresh. Very big selection, from sushi to seafood, such as shrimp, crab, scallops, mussel...etc. Those are just for lunch, I think they have better stuff for dinner. Salad bar's food is very fresh, and lots of choice. Chinese stir fry is pretty good as buffet food, some of them are very tasty. They have American food too. I like their sushi, and they give you my favorite spicy sauce on the bar, so i could squeeze as much as I wanted. Their ice cream is great, I never thought that Chinese buffet can have good ice cream too. Dessert bar is very normal, I didn't get any dessert at all, I didn't want to waste my stomach space on them anyway. Well, anyway, for the price you pay, it's good enough. I wish the buffet in my town can be better now. read more

Ruby Buffet - Buffets Near Me - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Ate there on Sunday (11/01/2020), unfortunately. A multitude of patrons not wearing masks while getting food from buffet trays. A multitude of patrons not wearing gloves that are at the buffet while getting food from buffet trays. One glove box remained empty, but several others were stocked with gloves. Observed an employee not wearing her gloves while replenishing food to buffet trays. Bad. We were disgusted by this and left. Shame on Ruby Buffet! read more

After working up an appetite playing next door at Masquerade, the girls and I headed over to Ruby Buffet. They raved about it, but I honestly thought it was an average experience. They have no regular italian dressing, limited dessert choices, and no egg drop soup; all staples for a successful 5-star buffet thumbs up from me! The service was pretty good and the food they actually had (chicken and broccoli and rice) was decent; I'd visit again if in the area. read more

There are so many flaws with this awful buffet. The food here tasted awful, and tasted old and flavorless. I have previously found a hair in my food but I tried to eat here again. I ended up with a stomach ache after eating the food here. The variety was sad and the dessert was either mushy or too hard. Even the water had an odd taste to it. The service here was awful. The waitresses were completely rude and were obviously targeting us because me and the others I was with were arab and hijabis. They were watching us like a hawk when we were simply eating. When we were leaving, we decided not to leave a tip and they got extremely angry at us. They started yelling angrily at us to 'put the tip' when we didn't want to when they were acting different to us our whole stay. Then one of the waitresses started to almost throw a chair at my friend whom i was eating with. This behavior is prosperous and not appropriate to be treating your paying customers this way. Many others that we talked to agree that this buffet was unreasonably rude that we suspect is due to me and the others i was eating with's race. I am NOT satisfied and will NOT be eating here again. read more

What the hell happened to the sushi? Way too much rice and it's like all california rolls with the raw fish on top. What a bummer. Not worth the trip! I will say, however, that the chicken nuggets, crab rangoon, and cold seafood salad are still great. Sushi, not so much. Also, it would be nice if the staff was more in tune to shitloads of food spilled on the floor. I wish I would have fallen... I would own the place if I had fallen! :) read more

Worse experience ever. Food wasn't as good as when I first tried it. I was going to leave a nice tip until the lady tried to pressure me to pay before we could finish eating. First time coming here. I wouldn't even bother trying the place if it wasn't for the wife. She seen snow crab legs and decided to bug me to give it a shot. It feel like a one of those cheap Chinese take out around the corner. The vibe, decor, the service, and the rude shady customers. Matter of fact it's worse than some of the Chinese take out. Got there for early dinner around 430 in the afternoon. Was greeted with a hostess that look like she's been running a marathon. Ok fine no smile I get it. It's kind of busy for 430. Not a problem just run ahead of us to our table and say nothing. Server came to get our drink order with out telling us what kind of drinks they have. Fine but don't give a look like I should know what you have. Wrong move lady and not even introducing yourself fine. Went to go make my plate and see what my wife was fussing about. Got to the steam table and no steam snow crabs. Ok fine I went for the stir fried stone crabs. Not bad but not great quality. If it wasn't stir fried and the sauce covering up the freezer burn meat. It would of been crap. Large typically sushi selection but I would even touch it. First the area where the sushi is placed was not cold enough. Because the carving station was right next to it with hot heat lamps. Not sure what cuts of steak was on that carving board. It was sure as hell dry the hell up. Tried the stuff clam and stuff shrimp with crab. The stuffed clam was ok if you like a load of stuffing, carrots, green beans and a small hint of clam. The stuff shrimp with crab had no crab meat. It stuff with imitation crab stick. Ok fine. They have craw fish. Wow I was wondering why no one was piling it up. So the wife crack one up and I know why. They didn't soak the damn thing first before cooking it. That's why it had so much dirt inside of it. Some was probably dead cause some had a funky smell. Ok fine craw fish no good. Wait for snow crabs. Waited for 15 minutes for them to bring out a fresh tray. The second it came out it was gone with a blink. Some mom made her two kids stand and wait for a new tray to be brought out. Rude kids. Wife mange to grab a few for us. Not what I expected. Small, thin, and not meaty at all. I'm thinking to myself forget this I'm stick with the stir fried clams. The rest of the dishes was your typical Chinese American foods that you can get at any take out place. They have do it yourself soft serve ice cream, fruits, warm cakes and cookies for dessert. At the end of dinner I was expecting at lease a 50 check because of the crab legs. But the check came up to be $37 for two. Ok it's cheap but you get what you paid for. Cheap foods, bad service, and unpleasant dining environment. Like I said some Chinese take out is better than this place. I forgot to say I'm a former chef. I've been cooking and work in the kitchen for 10 years. I have knowledge of or some knowledge of Chinese, Vietnamese, American, and Italian dishes. Finally the wife got sick when we got home. Sooo I won't be going back. read more

Came here as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids). Staffs here has nasty attitudes. Wasn't done eating they already brought the check out. So, I just paid for it so I wouldn't have to worry about it later. Was getting up to eat some more and the waiters was like "no tip?" with a nasty attitude (that's a red flag now). Told her "I'm still eating" then okay and rolled her eyes with a nasty look. When I got finish eating I gave a $10 tip which I shouldn't have because of her nasty attitude. She's going to have the guts and say "that's it? You have to give x amount % tip. In my head I was like people should be able to give whatever they can give and people giving you should appreciate it rather then getting nothing with their nasty service. Got up and left and will never be coming back here at all! Rather lose clients over tips that are given. That is stupid! If I can give this place negative stars I definitely would! read more

I use to eat here all the time since 2008 or so... I loved this place. Fresh food, good service, clean. It has seriously go e down hill, the table service are lazy standing around and talking while uour plates pile up, the sea food is not fresh any more. It declined over a year, the last time I was there i got a plate of crab legs and the legs were grey and mushy. I complained about the lazy service, the decline in the dirty look of the place confirmed by my drawing their attention to a roach at my table, this last day I tried several things after the disgarded grey crabs and all the seafood and meats seemed old and spoiling... I ate dessert and just decided to leave and never come back. They ignored every complaint they do not care. I now go to the Pho Saigon place a few doors down every week. They are terrific. I just read below others reviews after I posted this ... please see all of the posts about dirty tables and roaches... Why would you as owners not change this.
