Shanghai Crabmeat & Pork Soup Dumplings (8)

This place was recommended to us by our Airbnb Host while on vacation in Philadelphia. I love dim sum so we decided to try it. The staff were super friendly & we were greeted warmly on arrival. The place was relatively packed with people & a little loud but it was happy banter. The service is quick & efficient. What can I say about the food?! Ah mazing!!! We tried the crab soup dumplings, shiu mai, crab rangoons & fried Napa cabbage & pork dumplings. We were not disappointed. The price is also very reasonable. We left there feeling so happy. Please try it when in Philly.

This place never disappoints! I went during the first day of the Flower Show and this part of the city was mobbed. I went at lunch time and waited 5 or so minutes for a table. Now even though I was seated quickly, all the patrons were close in proximity! Everything we ordered had excellent flavor and came out quickly even with a full house! Will come here again and again with the amazing food and fast and efficient staff!

Food this time around was just okay. I was bringing a friend who had never been and she was excited to try dumplings for the first time. While she enjoyed that, the other food lacked strong flavor profiles, most notably the kung pao chicken packed no punch in flavor or spice. The service was just okay but I recognize that coming on a warm midday Saturday lends itself to a lunch rush and less time and attention to the quality. I hope to have a better experience next time.

I haven't been to Dim Sum Garden since they moved to their new location until tonight. The space is beautiful! Well lit and massive. So happy to see their business is booming allowing them to move to a larger space. The staff is so friendly and totally deserve the success they have. I grabbed takeout but they were fairly busy for a Sunday night. A few open tables but generally full. I came specifically for the chicken soup dumplings. Such a comforting meal. I was happy to see none of my dumplings burst on the commute home. The filling is so delicious and a generous portion of chicken. I grabbed the chicken noodle dish as well, this isn't really my vibe but it was good and the noodles are flavorful. I'm just used to a standard lo mein which has a bit more flavor and mix-ins. Overall, I'll always come back for the soup dumplings, just might stick to my favorites next time.

Found this place on tik tok and was so glad we went. We were seated as soon as we walked in and it was pretty crowded. The restaurant was well lit and clean. We tried dumplings, sesame chicken, and fried rice. I also got a lychee martini and it was so delicious. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Food & service were great. Atmosphere was lively and clean. Busy when I was there but I sat immediately. The only reason I gave 4 stars was it was cash only which I could have missed but I didn't find out until the bill came. They do have an ATM inside for guests to use. I was traveling for work so harder to expense a cash meal for me. Would absolutely return though!

We walked through Chinatown in search of some soup dumplings and stumbled upon Dim Sum Garden. We walked in and were seated right away and handed menus. We had a feeling the place was going to be good as we saw a steady crowd of people coming in and being served. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating and a bar area for drinks as well. We ordered the spicy soup dumplings, pan fried soup dumplings, and bok choy. The bok choy came out sautéed with garlic. I just wish it had been cut a bit smaller, because the pieces were hard to eat. The soup dumplings stole the show. The spicy soup dumplings had a nice kick, and the pan fried dumplings were crispy on the outside and filled with hot pork broth on the inside. Both were incredible. They came with chili oil and dumpling sauce, which was a nice touch. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely be back for the soup dumplings.

No wait for an early dinner on a Saturday but I think we got lucky with timing as the place was busy! Service was quick, food came out HOT and quick. Everything tasted great. Ordering every dumpling is my life mission.

I was so excited to try this place. My eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach and I had a hard time deciding what I wanted because I just wanted to try everything. We went on a busy Saturday night and were seated immediately. What we ordered: sweet and sour spare ribs (our favorite of the night, the sauce is very good. , scallion pancakes - were nice and crispy, crabmeat and pork soup dumplings- flavor is good but I didn't taste crab, spicy pork soup dumplings- not too spicy but my husband who can't handle spice did not eat more than a bite, shrimp dumplings- he loved them I thought they were a little bland, pork with sauce noodles( texture and flavor were great, I loved them and lastly we had general Tso's shrimp we asked for not spicy they were very tender not hard like some places and the sauce was really good. We were both stuffed and brought a bunch of dumplings home. Everything came out very hot and very quick. This is a large place so it was a bit loud and bright for me but I may be a vampire so....

Good as always. Get your cash ready - there is an atm there too - as they only take cash. Service is great. Fast in and out and even during rush times, it feels super efficient.

Cash Only. They have two ATMs onsite. We finally came back Dim Sum Garden and it is still great. We arrived in between lunch and dinner where we were able to get a spot easily. Service is great and food is delivered promptly without a long wait. Street parking or lot parking which is plentiful in the area.

Be aware this is a CASH ONLY spot. They do have an ATM onsite if you need it. The atmosphere: Modern, bright and feels freshly renovated. Plenty of seating and a comfortable amount of space. The food: The portions are generous for the price and most dishes are great for sharing. We started with the Crab Rangoons, which were mostly cream cheese and tasted a bit like they'd been frozen, so not my favorite. The Chicken Soup Dumplings were excellent, full of flavor and rich broth. Our table also enjoyed the Crispy Noodle with Beef. It had a good portion size, nice flavor and a cozy, satisfying feel. The service: Everyone we interacted with was warm and patient. The experience was smooth from start to finish.

Everyone in philly knows if it's a cold day you must eat some soup dumplins from Dim Sum garden. The food is always a 10 ! We went there and had the scallion pancakes, the soup dumplins, the handcut noodles were so yummy too! Every time someone visits Philly i take them here for a memorable meal. Make sure to take cash! $$ if not there is an atm inside the restaurant!

This place was packed, which is always a good sign, and even with that the staff stayed super prompt and professional. The house special was my favorite. I got it with the knife-cut noodles and it was perfect with the broth. The noodles had that slightly uneven, chewy texture that really holds onto the soup. I never thought I'd be the type to talk about "mouthfeel" but here we are. The broth itself was rich and savory with a deep beef flavor, a little bit of oil on top that adds body without feeling too heavy. It's that classic, comforting Chinese beef noodle soup done really well. I added a braised egg, which had great flavor soaked into it, though it was served cold, which threw me off a bit. The mapo tofu with noodles was also really solid. It had that signature spicy, numbing kick from the Sichuan peppercorns, balanced with a savory, slightly salty sauce. The tofu was soft and silky, and mixing it with the noodles made it extra satisfying. It's got some heat but not overwhelming, just enough to keep you going back for another bite. The shrimp stir fry was lighter but still flavorful. The shrimp were cooked well, tender with a slight snap, and the sauce leaned more on the savory side with a mild sweetness. It felt like a nice balance alongside the heavier noodle dishes. Couple practical things: it's cash only, but there's an ATM right by the seating area which makes it easy. And the portions are generous for the price, so it feels like a really good deal. Overall, super satisfying spot. Busy, a little chaotic, but the food absolutely delivers. Definitely a go-to if you're craving hand-pulled noodles.

This place is a straight-up dim sum and dumpling situation, and it delivers hard. We ordered way too much food, which I maintain was the correct decision. The spread: house special roast pork bun (pillowy, porky, perfect), pan-fried dumplings (crispy bottoms, juicy inside -- the way it should be), soup dumplings (golden, delicate, dangerous if you're impatient), scallion pancakes (flaky, savory, we did not share these equally), spring rolls (classic, crispy, no notes), and honestly some other stuff I've already forgotten because by that point we were deep in a dim sum fugue state. We finished almost all of it. Almost. We tried. And the price? An absolute steal. The kind of meal where you check the bill twice because you're sure something's missing. If you're in Philly and you want dumplings done right in a no-fuss spot that punches way above its weight, Nom Wah is the answer.

We were second standing outdoors waiting in this big fat long line. Immediately upon opening for the day the line nearly forced entry near stampede and this cafe was immediately packed to full occupancy of patrons with free seating. The Yelp reviews are accurate and truthful. The food is great. This is a small cafe with only approximately eight tables. I do not recommend large parties of five and greater. It is no-frills, but not exactly "hole in the wall" type that lack in aesthetics for upscale lavish atmosphere but the deficiency is resolved in the food quality. There is one sole functioning restroom in the whole business, ergo, stand in line and wait. We entered hungry in a lugubrious sense of deep sorrow, but exited hunger pangs fulfilled. When exiting upon completion of our lunch meal, there was a line that quickly formed outdoors waiting. Unfortunately, access to this cafe in Edison, NJ is by car only and there is a free parking lot that is shared with neighboring businesses located in a small shopping complex. There are no business cards, and no takeout menus available. Customer service is efficient as the staff worked methodically hustling busy to take orders and fulfillment. Our male waiter was attentive to respond to our inquiries and make suggestions based on our desires. I was able to keep the sales receipt. Price is in the rationale realm of stagflation totaling $41.75. Nota Bene: No table hibernation as the table turnover is fast pace with a line overflowing outdoors which cannot interrupt the flow. My foodie synopsis: Pork steam soup dumplings, 6 pcs, siu2 lung4 baau1, 小籠包, $8.75 Very juicy, flavorful and great. It was served piping hot.
