I was working with a short timeline for an event for my mother - we received her dress on a Saturday for an event the following Wednesday morning. I took it to Ruby's that Saturday for alterations and dry cleaning and was told I could pick it up Tuesday after 6pm. Perfect, right? Well on Tuesday at 630 I was told that not only was the dress not completed, it was not even at the shop. What happened next was an example of the most exemplary customer service experience: Ruby herself apologized for the errors in timing and assured me she would drive to retrieve the dress, steam it and deliver it to my home the same night - and she did just that. The alterations were completed exactly to my specifications and the dress looked amazing for my mother. I took a silk wool Eileen Fischer Shawl (worn once) to be cleaned because I got a spot on it and it was ripped at the neck line. When I picked it up, the garment was folded so you could not see the damage. Once I discovered it, I took it back and they attempted to fix it which looked tacky and off center. When I asked to be compensated for the damage they caused, they refused. They did not even offer to refund the cost of the dry cleaning itself (they make you pre-pay) and after some discussion offered us $15. This shawl cost almost $200, obviously this was not acceptable. Beware if you take a garment there, they will damage it and offer you nothing in return and act like somehow you are at fault. They did acknowledge ripping it in the cleaning process but will do next to nothing to right the wrong. read more

This is my first time seeing this alteration place in & it's right near my neighborhood, so I'm happy to visit for the first time today. Anyway, I dropped off a dress that I needed to wear for Mother's Day in the owner quickly sized the dress for me for it to be a little tighter. I explained that I would need it in a week if she said that would be no problem. You do you have to pay before pick up, which I'm pretty much used to with most alteration shops, but when she said the price for this dress, I was shocked to hear that it was more than what I paid for the dress lol. I wish I could say I did, but I gave her a week and a day to see a simple fashion patch on a canvas purse. When I called to ask if it was done, I was told give me two hours, so it hadnt been done, that's ok, I get it it's a small job, but then I get there and she says, oh I had to see the pocket shut to do it (I could have done it easily by hand just didn't have the time) and so long story short I have a ruined purse and now I still have to do it myself once I buy a new one.
