Disappointed and shocked by the owner's behavior I've been a customer here for almost 10 years, and while Sylvia (the owner) has never been particularly friendly, I continued to support her business. However, today was the last straw. I tried on four pieces and asked about the alteration prices. When she told me it would cost $38 to alter a dress I bought for $25, I simply said that didn't make sense to me financially. Out of nowhere, she began yelling at me--in front of another customer--accusing me of wasting her time and demanding $10 for it. She told me she would never do my alterations again (which I had no intention of continuing anyway), and falsely claimed that I always complain about her prices. This was completely untrue. The whole experience was upsetting, unexpected, and completely unprofessional. I was shocked by how aggressive and rude she became over a simple conversation. I won't be returning, and I hope others are treated with more respect than I was today. read more

Rude, racist, and unappreciative. This shop is anything but "amiable". I've trusted Sylvia with my alterations for years and she's never been "the friendliest" but she was at least professional (mostly). Last week, all of that went out the window. First off, when I walked in the store no one addressed me. I spoke up by saying a simple "hello, how are you doing" and her husband immediately hit me with "what do you want? Go try on your clothes" so rude. when I didn't understand what he said due to his heavy accent, he took a pause to repeat himself as if I was somehow annoying him. I simply and politely asked him to repeat himself, because I didn't understand what he said. He then said, I looked "threatening" to him. A 20 something year old black woman with clothes in hand was "threatening" to him...I should have left then. To make matters worse, I tried on my suit and she made a rude comment about "all my hair". I had braids in at the time... strike two. The final straw came a month later when I had to return to the shop with the proper shoes and bra for my alternations and Slyvia snatched my ticket out of my hand... strike three. THEN she continued to harass and yell at me for returning a month later to execute the actual alterations. Keep in mind... she hadn't done any work on it yet. I couldn't have come any sooner due to an ongoing personal emergency which I felt no need to explain. Again, no work had been done on my clothes. I promptly left the urine and mold smelling shop that hasn't been renovated in over 25 years. I regret giving her my loyal business for over 10 years. Ungrateful, unwelcoming, and outdated. The name says it all. I needed a 24 hr turnaround and Amiable was the ONLY ALTERATION SHOP THAT COULD DO IT. Will be my "go to" from now on.

Took my daughters new dress in to make a minor repair that we hadn't noticed when we purchased it. When we went to pick it up they could not locate the item initially but then produced it with a black stain on it. We asked them what happened as this was not there when we dropped it off and they became argumentative and stated that there was no way they did it- it must have been there when it was dropped off. It was not. The second picture clearly shows on the backside of the fabric the stain had to have originated from a sewing machine due to the foot imprint from said sewing machine. Due to the stain and not taking responsibility for the damage, will not return and do not recommend. We were also still charged for the original repair. read more

Truly, the kindest, most efficient, and helpful alterations place. A different local shop really messed up a dress that I needed to have for an event that weekend. She helped me with the messed up dress in time for my event, and charged a reasonable cost even with the rush. My mother owned an alteration shop so I know a little about the quality of the stitch work. Some places use cheaper machines that are limited in ability resulting in poorer quality. When you buy a quality garment, your paying for materials and the quality of the stitch work. The Juki machines they use are oil cooled with giant reservoirs of oil to keep these industrial machines working consistently. All this equates with quality work by quality seamstresses. Not all alteration shops are alike. There's a reason why I by Brooks Brothers suits but get alterations here. read more

I am short and have to have a lot of things hemmed! Everything I've had done there, dresses, jeans, jackets, etc have been done great! I also have one leg that's longer so each pant let is different and it's always been done correctly. The prices are definitely cheaper than most alterations places around!!! They aren't super friendly but who really is?? The owner always does all the pinning no one else. Been going there about 3 years. read more

Five pairs of pants...10 minutes pinning them and picked up a couple days later. They were perfectly done and it was like $25 total. Never really done alterations to pants so I can't compare but I have to say this place was spot on to what I would have expected. Will be going there again and recommending to my friends. read more

This place is near my house so I use it for the location. They have always done pretty good work on pieces that I need mended or tailored. Only thing is when I have gone in before the woman who works the front desk doesnt acknowledge you sometimes, she just kind ignores you while shes doing something else and your left wondering "does she see me?" Ive seen it happen to others too...lol anyways, not too bad. They do good work. There is an odor in there but it is from moth balls that they keep out to keep moths away from the clothing. read more
