Like everything that is quality in Charlotte, Good Food, Et. Al. - You have to wait for things. It was worth the wait at Tina's. They are located in the "Posh" Dilworth Section of Town and they serve a "Well Healed" Clientele; Parking in the Shopping Center can get a bit tight - so just be careful and be calm. Prices are fair - you get what you pay for and all good things come to those who wait; - Tina's stands by their work. I will be returning in the not so distant future to have have some pants hemmed. read more

There are a few alterations options in the area but I was nearby, dropping off some dry cleaning a few doors down, so I dropped in. I needed a pair a pants and although they are quicker then some other spots, they are more expensive. I love the quicker turnaround but might not choose them as my first option if I don't need my garment back quickly. All the employees are very sweet too. One thing to keep in mind. I posted a review approximately 15 or so years ago when I first met Tina and found this shop. I also wrote one in 2017. And here I am again, just to reaffirm that Tina is fantastic. I have taken countless uniforms, dresses, pants (especially pants!) to this shop to be altered to fit my short, athletic-ish body. I have taken in some items that I was not sure could even be worked on, due to lack of fabric or just some design element, such as the useless elastic built into our tactical uniform waistbands. But Tina has found a way to work with it and make it better for me. I highly recommend this Tailor/shop. Best in town! And after you drop off your items, stop by next door and grab a smoothie from Carolina Smoothies. Undoubtedly the best smoothies in Charlotte. IMHO. read more

I took in my beautiful dress I am wearing as the maid of honor at my sister's wedding. I went to get the hem altered, the sides taken in, and the skirt brought up slightly. Noting complicated or out of the ordinary. It had a v-neck that I felt comfortable and beautiful in. It didn't show off a ton of boob. I told them I was really happy with the neckline and didn't want that changed at all. When they were pinning me, I showed them where I wanted the skirt to go up about an inch. The seamstress said "no. 2 inches". I asked for it to be 1 inch again, but she pinned me for 2. I gave her the benefit of the doubt because she does this professionally but boy should I have listened to myself. When I came in to get my dress, I tried it on and was so upset and stunned silently in a bad way by the fit. The waist was way to high that not only caused me to looks wide and disproportionate but because they shortened the bodice too much, the entire bodice was riding up and not laying flat, the wide straps had a gap between my shoulder and the fabric, and the armpit area was digging into my armpit. It was as if someone had picked me up my my straps and I was dangling off the floor. I asked if they could fix anything about the waist and the arms but was told no because the dress zips perfectly. She said the only way to make the dress lay flat is to bring my breast way up with a push up or tape, something I am very uncomfortable & self-conscious with. My mom was with me & has a lot of experience sewing, grew up around seamstresses. She was kindly advocating for me because I was stunned silent with the fit and the people's attitudes who worked there. Because they shortened the bodice too much, I can never take it down where it needs to lay because of how they sewed it. Technically speaking, they ruined it. I will never come here again and encourage others to go somewhere else. read more

Wedding dress alteration of hemming and shortening the straps by about half an inch and adding a sash around the waist cost $700. The sash was uneven and didn't lay flat. When we brought it to their attention, the seamstress sort of pretended to measure it to prove to us that it was even and basically used a language barrier to dismiss us and rush us out of the store without having her fix it. The staff at Tina's is quick, responsive, understanding, and professional. I brought my wedding dress in to be altered and they had it done in three weeks. When I picked up the dress, I noticed that you could see the bra pad on one side. The ladies immediately fixed it on spot so I could take it home the same day. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I took an old favorite sweater that had the waist stretched out. Tina's said they could sew elastic in the waist line. They did a phenomenal job, one that I thought the waist fit just as good as it did when I purchased it years ago. The day they said it would be ready, it was ready that day. I brought in my bridesmaid dress here. The dress was to be floor length, I wore the shoes that the bride requested we wear on the wedding day to get it tailored. When i picked it up today it was shockingly short. There is no way to fix this in time for the wedding. After buying the dress and spending $137 tailoring, this is very upsetting. When i called with my concerns, Tina suggested i was to blame for wearing the wrong shoes (i was absolutely wearing the correct pair) and that I should come back in with shorter shoes.... I was stunned. This is not a solution to a ruined dress, to tell the customer to wear other shoes? To suggest they're lying?? As sad as i am about the loss of money, i am more disheartened that it will hurt my friend's special day. read more

I was recommended this place by my mom and coworker. I'm glad I listened. Not only is it super close to my job, but they are absolutely wonderful. They work fast, and the whole team works together to get you moving swiftly through the door and getting you out in a timely manner. When they start doing their thing for the alterations, they ask questions, ask how you like it, and make their own recommendations without dismissing what you want. They will make it happen, unlike other alteration places where they simply say "No we can't or don't do that." They make sure everything is at your liking and make sure your garmet is ready before any big day. I went for my final fitting and pick up of my wedding dress, and everything went wonderful. Dress was tailored exactly how they stated they would, and they worked with us on the pricing. It's definitely a place where I will take any other alterations I may have in the future. I had such an unpleasant experience here. I brought them my wedding dress at the recommendation from the boutique i purchased the dress. At this walk in visit, I took the dress in July for my October wedding. I was quoted $500 for some alterations and to add buttons down the back. However, we decided i should buy a different size and bring the new dress in. A month later, I came back but they said I didn't have an appointment so they couldn't help me (literally no customers were in there?). Why didn't they originally tell me to make an appt to bring the new dress in? I've never had to make an appt at an alternations place before. Whatever, I made an appt and brought in the new dress and quoted $600. I assumed this was because the now- rushed job. A week later, i realized i forgot to tell them i wanted buttons. I called and the lady said it would be another $100. A week before my final fitting, the lady called me to tell he they needed more time. So we pushed back the appointment. The day before that appointment, she called back at said the buttons would be $150. What?!? The dress was perfect, but I felt disrespected and taken advantage of at every step in this process. For that reason, i really cannot recommend this store. read more

I had my bridesmaids dress altered. Went back to pick it up and it was huge. They altered it again, and it was still incorrect. They insisted that it was because of my body, and that they couldn't do anything, and said I needed a padded bra. They put sample pads in at the. Appointment and said it looked "totally fine" despite my insistence that it was still too big and fit poorly. Despite having the most padded bra I could find, the dress had 2-3 inches of loose fabric around my back and fit terribly around the chest. They charged me $120, and they were extremely rude. I typically do not leave a bad review, but I absolutely cannot recommend this place for anyone who really cares about an expensive piece of clothing. read more

I bought my wedding dress at Vowd and Tinas being a vowd partner, I got my wedding dress altered here. Overall, I think they did do a good job with the quality of services requested. I do think the price points were too expensive for the services. My dress was pretty plain and I did not have to shorten the length and had no train to bustle. Other that that, all I needed was my dress to be taken in and cups added. All of that together was almost $400. There's about 3 fitting rooms so they can change.. There's one young lady that will translate and 2 staffs to help pins and adjust accordingly.. Overall, they were all very sweet. My daughter and I went to Tina's as it was one of 2 places recommended by the Wedding Dress shop she bought her dress from. Made an appt. and attended the appt. Was greeted by 2 ladies who immediately assisted my daughter in getting her dress on and up onto the stool to start measuring. Then proceeded to sell me a dress bag. Once they tacked the dress and put it in the new bag. They proceeded to say that the alterations would take 4 weeks and cost $700. Mind you my daughters dress has no beading or applique. Needed to be taken in at the waist, up at the hem and add a bustle. When I questioned why so high... I was told everyone charged that much and showed me where everyone who was sent from Vow'd was charged upwards of $700 - 850. I expected it to be a few hundred dollars, however, $700 seemed a bit extreme. The salesperson said she would give me $50 discount. I kindly let her know that we would would like the dress back as we would look around, particularly since we didn't live that close to this store (in another county). She stated that we wouldn't find another better and when I found an estimate about the same I could come back and they would do our alterations. I cordially thanked her, shared I would pay for the bag and the work they did that day and asked for the dress. She charged me $40, which I paid. It was at this point that I saw the second woman take the dress out of the bag and rush it to the back of the store. The person I was speaking with said oh no - she go and steam the dress and make nice. When I looked again, I saw the woman carrying back the dress to put it in the bag - rolled up in a ball!!! They had taken out any pins or makes they made on the dress and put it back in the bag. I assured her that we would not be back as it was clear they were not very good to work with. read more

This is long, but I had such a BIZARRE experience here with TWO different workers. When I first tried on the dress for them, one of the girls told me in every way possible that my dress was ugly without actually saying my dress was ugly. It made me really self-conscious. She even gave me a card with her number on it, so that we could "buy any other dress." (This woman is not the one who did the actual alteration and is different than the woman mentioned below) I'll say that the turnaround time is great, the execution, however, is not. I wore the dress for the event that I needed it for but realized that the button in the front kept coming loose, so I went back to have them sew it on instead of just having a button clasp. So I drop off the dress and am told it will be ready in 2 days and she writes my name on a sticky note, but I don't get a ticket like I did the first time. I go to pick it up a little bit later than 2 days and when she can't find the dress, I am told that I gave them the wrong name (even though it is my OWN name) so that made no sense and then I was blamed for not bringing a ticket that I NEVER received in the first place. Lo and behold I finally find the dress and mine is the only dress with a sticky note hanging and NOT A TICKET. The woman barely says anything and I walked out without even trying the dress on. Truly have never had an experience like this before. read more
