I've gone to this place a few times, and have had mixed results. I once took a jacket to have it taken in. They weren't able to split the side seams due to the pockets (or didn't want to) but they did make some very nice pleats in the back and also hemmed the sleeves for me. So a good result! I wear it all the time. But i've also had a few pants hemmed, and have had mixed results there. One pair is still way too long despite their careful measurements. ... and that brings me to another complaint I have. Now, i used to work in NYC by the fashion district, so my standards are a bit high...but they kept my measurements on file so i didn't have to try on a pair of pants every time I needed a hem. I'd bring them the pants, tell them to take 2 inches off the hem, and they would have that done the same day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Anna's insists that you try everything on for them to mark with pins...which is annoying especially when the hem length comes back wrong.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also the turn around is slow but I understand that. I have been a customer of Anna's Alterations since the late 80's. They have always done a great job for a fair price. But I recently brought in three dresses and was told there would be a $5 rush fee per dress. When I went to pay, the cost was over $400 for three dresses!!!!!!! My mom had taken a dress a couple of months ago and the cost was around $75 for similar alterations. The worst part is I paid a rush fee and one of the dresses still had pins in it and wasn't even complete. I was charged an additional fee and had to come back to get it. Fabulous alterations and wonderful staff! I've been a customer for over 15 years and they always do a wonderful job. The best thing is to stop by for a fitting and then they'll give you an estimate on when it will be ready. Generally they charge based on the sewing needs so anything between $5 for pants hemmed or more complex alterations for around $25/30. I had a good experience a couple of years ago for shortening pants. This time, they gouged me on the price and gave me back a stained dress. The dress was brand new in plastic since I bought it. I needed an additional slight adjustment and they wanted additional money Then once I saw the stains, (which they dismissed), I decided to take my dress and go. I bought a sport coat at Johnston Murphy and a gift card at their store. Then directly left the mall and went straight to Anna's Alterations. I totally forgot that I left the gift card and receipt in the sport coat pocket when I dropped it off at Anna's alterations. When I picked up my sport coat the receipt for the sport coat and gift card was still in the same pocket, but the gift card was gone! When I spoke to Anna's alterations and expressed my concern, the lady said there is nothing they can do. Shortly after she actually hung up on me!!! Am awarding one of my rare 5-star ratings on Anna's because it is that good. Anything that needs to be altered can be done here. Men's suits, women's skirts, jackets and pants and one day there was a bride to be getting her gown altered! Very, very impressive. You need not an appointment, just walk in and have a seat. The lady at the cash register will ask what you need done and you will go to a designated changing room. You exit the room and will be directed to one of the many women that are there to measure, pin and mark your stuff. Repeat for each item you have for alteration. You report back to the front desk and they will give you a due date to come back for your items. It is such a professional and efficient operation that you will leave positively impressed, as I am each time. The work is perfect and if it is not, you go back to have it re-done. Most all the ladies are Asian and off to the left there is a row of sewing machines where the work is done. To the right are the fitters. Prices are very reasonable, although it borders on expensive, and the turn-around is not more than a couple of weeks. Usually it is within a few days. I see that many reviewers share my high opinion. Very disappointed with what should have been a relatively simple alteration to shorten the length of a brand new pair of mens pants. Not only was one pant leg hemmed shorter than the other, neither leg was hemmed to the length requested! I took the pants to another reputable tailor to emergency fix and he came out of his sewing room twice to complain how bad of a job they did on the pants, going so far as to call the work unprofessional. Anna's quality has gone WAY downhill since I first started coming here about 10 years ago. I go somewhere else for things i need done well but went in today to get a pair of baseball pants gemmed. I needed them in 48 hours and it is a very simple hem and was told it was a rush fee of $5 in addition to the $14 they would charge for the simple hem??!! No thank you Anna's. You are getting a little greedy. I will not be bringing anymore clothes to your shop. read more

Was recommended to Anna's for my wedding dress alterations by the store I bought it from, J Major's. The first visit to Anna's definitely left me feeling nervous, I needed a lot of work done on the dress and they weren't exactly "warm and fuzzy". But they were quick and assured me that they could do everything and make it look exactly how I wanted. The process had to go one stage at a time so I got familiar with the staff and they definitely grew on me and remembered me every time I went back for another stage of the process. I brought in an intricate crocheted top that needed repair. The delicate stitching needed to be re-sewn but I didn't know how they would do it. The woman who looked at the top also didn't know the best way. She took the shirt to the back room and consulted with one of the seamstresses and came back with the best method of repair. I was so impressed that she didn't just take the shirt and hand me a receipt. She took the time to make sure it was going to be done correctly and made sure that I knew what to expect when getting the shirt back. Bad quality and workmanship, cuts corners. Instead of taking in my suit sides, they just moved over the top button. If you want speed by all means go here, but if you want a quality tailor stay away. Im extremely disappointed i wasted 75 dollars on alterations that had to be redone. My right sleeve was shorter than my left by over 1/4 inch, i already said the button issue, my pants were suppose to be adjusted through the seat, but when i step forward with my left leg i feel it pulling on my upper thigh. This used to get the place to go. Now the more popular they got they beyond overcharge, give you attitude and the quality is not what it used to be. I paid 54 dollars to take in the sides of a dress just to make it tighter. A minor alteration on a 15 dollar dress and paid 54 dollars!! I came here the day of my birthday. I radomly broke the zipper on my pants that I planned on wearing out that night I guess my pants shrunk or something lol bc I also needed a new button added as well. Either way they got it done in a hr wh the work they already had in front of me. I have been going here for quite some time and have been satisfied. This time I went to get my dress altered and said I needed it hemmed and just take the straps in a little. The lady went to pinning everything and didn't ask me how I wanted it at all. When I went to pick it up, they didn't tell me how much it was and just asked for my card. I've taken several pants here to be hemmed. The staff is very friendly. Their work is high quality. They have even repaired hems from another place that came undone. They turn around things very quickly, and I think the prices are very reasonable. Used Anna's for 25 years. Things changed since city awards have come about. Last three visits for simple pant taper and hems have gone terribly wrong. Had them repair 2x and still not right. Went to this store to see if I can have a maxi skirt turned into a slip style dress. Asking price $200 dollar. Clearly my pockets aren't as deep as some of you who love this place so much. I'm sorry I am not sorry, there isn't a chance in holy hell I would pay that for what is a simple task of taking the dress in, cutting the top band off and using the excess material to make straps. All in all , I need to learn how to sew so I too can overcharge customers and have the public rave about it. I am in the wrong business folks...the wrong business! read more
