This mother daughter duo does fantastic work. I got a last minute invitation to an all white event and needed last minute alterations done for a ill fitting suit I purchased online. After only two days i received my suit back with alterations completed to perfection. The service was fast, friendly, and professional. I would certainly recommend them to any one in need of a tailor. read more

SK Alterations / Sohn Studio - Sewing & Alterations Near Me

My go to when I need something altered with a little quickness. Never any issues and wonderful conversation.

I had a hole in my suit pants and I went to Sohn studio to get it fixed. It was fixed by the next day. The quality of the tailoring was first class. They did an amazing job and even redid the seam beyond the hole to make sure it wouldn't happen again. I highly recommend Sohn Studio and if I have another issue, I am definitely coming back. read more

I have no idea how much clothes alterations are supposed to cost so I cannot comment on value. What I do know is that the people who work here are genuine people who are honest and reliable. I brought in a dress that I was struggling to fit into around the waist. The woman was straight with me that there wasn't much she could do there because there wasn't any extra fabric and due to the very structured nature of the bodice. Aka, I had to come to terms that I had gained weight and need to work out... thanks COVID. However, she confidently fitted the collar and hem for my petite frame. I wasn't in a rush but she gave me a reasonable date and it was perfectly ready for pick up. Tips: Be sure to bring your shoes that you'll wear with any dresses or pants. Be prepared to pay upon drop-off as opposed to at pick-up. read more

excellent experience at SK Alterations! The staff is incredibly friendly, professional, and detail-oriented. I brought in a suit that needed adjustments, and they tailored it to perfection. The fit was spot-on, and the quality of the alterations really stood out. Turnaround time was fast, and the pricing is very reasonable given the high level of service. If you need a suit tailored to fit like it was custom-made, SK Alterations is the place to go. Highly recommend for anyone in the Mooresville area looking for expert tailoring! read more

Amazing service! This shop is truly a master of their craft. I came in with a full lace dress that was constructed in a way that made it difficult to alter. I needed the waist taken in about 2-3 inches. After being turned away by an alteration shop in uptown due to not wanting to accept liability I found this shop who took on the task. I had about a 3 week timeline for when I needed the dress ready and they had it done EARLIER than the original date. I went in and tried it on and it fit perfectly. I was so pleased and ecstatic. Thank you so much for providing me with such outstanding service. I will most definitely be a return customer read more

So most people don't give alterations much thought, especially guys. But a spent a lot of money on new clothes after losing some weight and I have an odd inseam of 31. Guys either have to buy 30 or 32 and hope for the best or look poorly fit. I can see why SK has all 5 star reviews. I took my new pants in to have hemmed to 31 inseam and they are perfect. It only took a few days and it quite literally looks like they came from the factory. The hem is actually better and stronger than the factory. I'm extremely happy. I'll take all my alterations there from now on. read more

I enjoyed working with these two ladies for my wedding dress (my dress was ordered in a 12, was sized down to about an 8 due to lace). Decent price compared to other places I wuoted. They even customized my bustle on my dress and gave it a cathedral look which was LOVELY. They even hid my dress from my now husband when he would come in to get his shirts altered! I also had my dress for my bridal shower altered here as well, which might I add was also A size too big. My experience with SK was GREAT, I am definitely coming back for more alterations for other things if needed! read more

Usually when a shoe falls apart, I trash them. But I received a referral and really wanted to save the boots. I was impressed with the service received when I dropped off the boots - as the Lady reassured me this issue happens often & these boots needed to be saved. They were ready within 4 days & looked like new (I also got new heels put on). Great customer service and repair - if you have a quality shoe that needs to be saved, check them out. read more

Was very impressed by the Yelp reviews that I wanted to give this business a try. I called prior to going in to see if they required appointments or if walk-ins were acceptable. I was taken aback as the initial conversation on the phone was rather short and rude, however, based on the reviews I was still eager to give them a try. I left disappointed. When you walk into the establishment there isn't so much as a greeting or sense of politeness. My quote for alterations on a simple unembellished bridesmaids dress, that slightly needed to be taken in on the side was just $10 under the cost of what I spent on the dress itself. I politely declined and the mother yanked the pins out and tossed my dress back. I would rather spend double on alterations elsewhere then give this business my money. The sense of customer service is nonexistent. read more

These guys do good work. Took a pair of my Cole Haans in to get worked on because the heel fell off. It was $35 to replace both heels. They use Goodyear rubber soles. They did a good job blending the color. Can't even tell it's a brand new soul on a well worn pair of shoes. I liked the shoes enough to entrust them with a suit tailoring. I'm sure the work will be great. read more

I came here due to the amazing reviews, and they exceeded my expectations. I brought in two pairs of pants, one needed a zipper replacement and one pair needed to be hemmed. They patiently went over options in regards to the zipper, and they were transparent about their pricing. The prices are reasonable, the work was done on time and my pants fit great. I'm strictly going here for all alterations. Thanks guys! read more

I used SK for a bridesmaid dress fitting. The people working there were nice and finished my dress in time.

Let me tell you a little story about my Frye boots. Years ago shopping at a vintage store in NYC my friend bought me a pair of gorgeous chestnut hue tall leather boots. They absolutely insanely beauty makes up for their discomfort and wooden soles with no support. After a few years of nasty wear and tear. These boots were looking rough. My friend recommended this shoe repair shop. After a week and $40.00 later, my boots looked better then they had when I got them! The entire soles were replaced with thick Carolina pine and the leather was polished. While I wouldn't pay 40 bucks to get many of my boots re-soled, this was well worth it. I also know the shop with fix heels around $10-$20. Accepts cards and cash now! Woot Woot ! read more

I was searching for a skilled and reasonable tailor to have my bridesmaid dresses altered, and SK was highly recommended by a friend. The store is run by a mother and daughter team, and they did a wonderful job on my dress. The straps were taken up and the length was hemmed. They made sure I was satisfied with the alterations and had me try on the dress before I left. They have two changing rooms. I also forgot my shoes when I went to pick up the dress but they conveniently had shoes for me to wear while trying on the dress. I'm always willing to pay a fair price for great craftsmanship, and I'm happy to say that I agree with the accolades! Very excited to wear the dress in a couple of weeks. read more

I've been a fan of this place for about five years now and have had the occasion to do business with them about eight times. They have always been honest, on-time, and fairly priced for all my shoe repairs . . . And I'm definitely going to try their alterations the next time I need something done. I see where one reviewer left a comment about the owners being "rude" and I honestly cannot believe that . . . It may have been a language barrier or a cultural thing . . .but this 25 year old company is thriving today bc they deliver on-time and on-budget. read more

Just picked up 4 pairs of my husband's pants that I had hemmed and a boot that I needed a zipper replaced on. The work was great! I had only taken one of my husband's pants marked with the right length and they were able to get the other 3 just right as well. I had a boot zipper that didn't zip anymore and they were able to replace it and match the stitching pretty well. I originally found them using Yelp's quote feature. They gave me the best price and answered my request right away. When I arrived at the store, the prices were just as quoted and everything was done in 4 days. Highly recommend! read more

Got my prom dress altered here! (length & straps on the back) All for $70, ehh kinda $$ but they did a great job so I'm not complaining(: The lady runs the business with her mother, both were very sweet! I called in saying I was going to be 15 mins late to my apt & the lady was so understanding. They were super chill, and didn't make us pay before and told us we can swing back anytime after the date that they gave us on the ticket. Def recommend this place, they really do take care of you & listen to all your concerns! read more

This place was awesome! I sent my sister in with my daughter to find a leather shoe spray to match her skin tone. The employee who helped them went out of her way to ensure we purchased the correct color. Sadly, it ended up being the wrong color after we used it at home, but her service and assistance was greatly appreciated. I love great customer service, and people who go out of their way to help the customer fulfill their needs and she did just that. Five stars! read more

I have been a repeat customer for two decades! Father has given new life to many pairs of boots and shoes, prolonging their useful life. Mother and daughter have monogrammed my children's backpacks, altered formal gowns, and hemmed more pairs of slacks than I can recall. I feel like a welcome guest when I visit. Just today, my husband and I were offered two handmade face masks, compliments of the owners! That is the ultimate in customer service. I hope you'll support this locally-owned business. I went here today with a simple chiffon bridesmaid dress. The woman behind the counter told me to come back another time. She then proceeds to tell me that she can't give me a quote. I would NEVER COME BACK HERE AND NEVER WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!! Keep your sanity and go somewhere else. read more

***WARNING!!!*** NOW READ THIS!!! This is a sincere review! =D FIVE STARS as always/usual!!! This IS the place that YOU need to be taking ALL of your alteration projects to! DON'T settle for less than perfection or the word of others who wouldn't know quality work if it was wearing a neon sign! If you have OCD, demand perfection, and are *NOT* OK with the mediocre slop that too many alteration shops pass off as *acceptable work, then take whatever you need altered, sewn, patched, or replaced to S & K Shoe Repair & Alterations and they'll definitely make you a happy camper. I go back to this mother/daughter team ALL the time for my patch work (yes, even on THICK leather jackets/vests). I dropped the ball ONE TIME and took a leather vest elsewhere and REGRETTED it immediately! It was WAAAY off/crooked (Stevie Wonder could've done a better job!)! I took it to S & K (what I should've done in the first place) and they fixed it for me in a mere 3-days, "YES!" Now it's golden! Remember: "A good _____ is NOT cheap and a cheap _____ is NOT good." And you don't have to accept anything that you're NOT happy with. You'll definitely be happy with S & K's work ethic and final product. I KNOW I always am! Thanks, S & K! See ya soon! ~Allen read more
