If you want it perfect, this is your place! Christie's has been there for years and is always busy for a reason. This is the reason all the glams, pageant and wedding peeps come here. Not to mention the high end Clothing Stores use them if their pieces need to be altered. I have been going there for years and trust them with my basics to my couture. I have never been disappointed. Keep in mind. Give them at least a week. Don't roll up in there expecting next day service. Protection takes time. And ya have to pay to have the best. I had a MOB dress altered by Christie's. She did warn me that the rouching around the stomach area was designed to pouf out a bit. The finished product fit GREAT around the armpits (no armpit fat), but the pouf remained not pleasing and makes me look like I have no waist at all. I asked if anything could be done to take in the waistline but she said it's just designed that way. But...I can't wear it. It makes me look huge around the stomach area and would do so even with spanx. I just spent $200 to have it altered but will be looking for a new dress, unfortunately. read more

Christie did a great job on my alterations. They were a little more expensive than I expected, but I don't think the price was unreasonable. I paid $35 for a hook to be reattached and straps shortened on one dress, and $55 for another dress to be taken in and hemmed. Both were a silky/satin material. She got both dresses done before I needed one of them for a wedding. She was attentive and helpful when I initially tried on the dresses so she could pin them in place. My suit for a wedding needed to be tailored. The groom chose a suit from an online retailer and we could not pick and choose separates; the suit came with set sizing between the jacket, vest and pants. I made sure the jacket would be the right size but the pants were so big they would fall right off of me. I took it to Christie's without an appointment and although she was busy, she made quick work to fit me in. She was helping four other people at the same time and I was amazed by her attention to every single customer and their needs. She also disinfected each fitting room as soon as a customer exited. You really can tell she cares about her customers. I picked my suit up today and tried it on as soon as I got home. I couldn't believe it was the same suit! She made alterations to all three pieces and it looks incredible! I will be taking all my clothes in need of alterations to her in the future! Best experience! read more

Came here because of the reviews and being close to work so I could go on my lunch break. Stopped in and they were busy, all rooms were full, but I was still quickly attended to. I had just bought a dress that was too big, and I was worried after alterations it would not fit properly. They did a great job and the dress fit perfectly. I dropped the dress off on a Friday and picked it up on Wednesday (Monday was labor day and I could have picked it up on Tuesday, but I opted for Wednesday). Great turn around time and I would assume good pricing, but not sure what the industry standard is. I paid $15 to have my dress altered. read more

Christie is the most straight forward and attention to detail tailor that I have ever been to. I have used tailors in NYC and LA that are not nearly as good as Christie. She has fixed several very expensive suits that a tailor in LA messed up. She has darted shirts, slimmed ties, and slimmed suits. She and her team are incredibly skilled and efficient. Her prices are reasonable. Sure, it's not a same day turn around, but I'd rather have Christie's quality control than some churn out alterations factory. Fellas, if you want that off the rack suit to fit you like it was a custom built piece... Come to Christies Alterations. I'm pretty meticulous, particular, etc and Christie exceeded expectations on a suit that I brought in that needed alterations for my bachelor trip to Vegas. Full disclosure: I'm cheap. I bought this suit off the rack at JCP of all places, and it was a slim fit, however, it just didn't fit my personal preferences fit wise. I'm 6'0, 185 lbs and the jacket needed to be taken in. Christie had the work done in no time, for what I think was an extremely reasonable price (compared to Tina's in Dilworth) with more attention to detail as well. I was in a wedding in May in MD and in my typical procrastination style, I waited a week before I was due to leave to get my bridesmaid dress altered. I saw some good reviews of Christie's on Google or somewhere so I grabbed my dress and headed there shortly after it opened. It was pretty crowded in there and a lot of older women in there Myers Park finest could not stop singing Christie's praises, I figured if its good enough for their designer duds its good enough for me! And it was. Christie had me put the dress on, made sure she marked where I wanted the hem cut to, made sure the dress would be brought in at all the right spots and told me we wanted it tight up top so the uh girls don't fall out! After we did that, I paid, $50ish I think which is waaay better than I have paid for other bridesmaid dress alterations, and even better she'd have it done by Tuesday morning (this was Thurs). I was very pleased and I will definitely return! read more

I brought a bridesmaid dress into Christie to be shortened. I was very happy when she told me it could be done in two weeks for only $25! What a steal! I tried on the dress for her and we decided to take it up 1 1/2 inches. I came back 2 weeks later to pick up the dress and tried it on again. It looked the same, but I knew it wasn't because the fabric that was cut off. I told Christie I thought it was two long, the fabric didn't look like it was 1 1/2 inches. She brought out her fabric measuring tape (which was missing the first 1/4th of an inch) and measured 1 1/4 in, so really one inch. So really a half in less than what we agreed on so no big deal. Until she began to argue with me telling me I was wrong and that was what we agreed on. To keep this short. I was unhappy. She then handed me some pins and told me to pin it where I wanted it to be. Thinking to myself.. Me?! I don't know what I'm doing.. I can't do this myself. I try, unsuccessfully to pin it and have to have her help me. There are at least 5 other customers picking up their items hearing and watching this. She tells me to come back on Tuesday and it will be ready. I ask her if she is sure, I can wait until Wednesday if she needs me to and she says, no no it will be done. I arrive on Tuesday and she asks me what I'm doing there? I said Wednesday.. The only reason I'm giving her 3 stars because after all of that my bridesmaid dress did turn out very well, but I will not be returning or recommending her to anyone because of the service. read more

My wedding dress, ordered from Australia, was two sizes too big, in addition to needing shortening and some other nips and tucks. Christie knows exactly how clothing is put together, and made it look perfect. The price for all the alterations seemed slightly steep, but I've never had clothes altered before so I didn't know what to expect; they may be in line with industry standards, especially since I had to have so many things done, and a wedding dress has a somewhat complicated construction to deal with (i.e. boning etc). Christie made me look great, and business was hopping with other customers who indicated they were repeat visitors, both when I was dropping my dress off and picking it up, so I know she has clients who come back to her over and over.
