Vietnamese iced coffee
Miranda G.

I've seen this place a million times but never stopped in. Decided to try it on this quiet, foggy Sunday morning. Clean and well stocked. Loved the coffee roaster in the center of the space and the wall of roasted coffee beans. The menu was pretty extensive and everything smelled and looked delicious. The staff was prompt and friendly. Walked out with a giant iced coffee and a few pastries for the fam. Everything was delicious. Adding this to my list of weekend go-to/treat stops.

4++ Small cafe located in Benicia in an area where there are a few strip malls and eateries. This café does mostly breakfast and lunch. I think actually that's all they do. The folks here are very friendly and helpful. Came here for lunch and got a sandwich and a coffee. It was my first time in the person behind the camera was pretty helpful. The menu is more of a build your own sandwich type thing for lunch so I just picked a turkey on marble rye with a bunch of veggies. The space itself has a good amount of seating. There's also plenty of parking outside. It could get busy though.

Very friendly local coffee shop that roasts their own beans! They had a remodel a couple months ago and the place looks fantastic. The vibe is super chill, with locals stashed at their corner, but there's plenty more room for sitting. They get Noah's bagels for their bagels, and have some burritos made by a local vendor. The owner Sam is super chill, ask him about why it's called Rrags! OH and the reason why I come here so often other than because it's a local coffee shop and everyone should be supporting local businesses is that they are the ONLY spot in Benicia that makes a Vietnamese coffee fantastically. You won't regret it!

I'm a stickler for excellent customer service and the cashiers at Rrags get an A+! They offer a large variety of coffee, baked goods, and food items that can be enjoyed from breakfast to dinner. I tried the morning glory loaf and the caramel macchiato - both were delish. My daughter enjoyed the Lavendar Oatmilk Latte. I'm excited for the many other items we'll enjoy on our many other visits. The interior is aesthetically pleasing. I love the mailboxes that hold the coffee beans - very original. I like what Rrags has brewing!

Rrags Caffe is such a hidden gem! The coffee is rich and smooth, the food is fresh and flavorful, and the vibe is super cozy; which is perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. You can really taste the care they put into every dish and drink. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. The breakfast egg sandwich hit the spot, the lox bagel was chef's kiss, and don't even get me started on those apple & blueberry fritters!!! But I highly suggest coming as early as possible because they run out of pastries quick! I came back the next day for another blueberry fritters and it was all sold out! For drinks, I ordered their Royal Special Mocha and it was, like I said, rich and smooth! Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to again and again.

Cane after work and got an iced mango matcha and a raspberry tart. I liked the dessert, it was sweet and tart, which I loved. The mango matcha was something that the staff hasn't done before and I wish it had a little more mango syrup. The place was so cute and I loved the coffee wall.

Every now and then I get a craving for a bagel breakfast sandwich and that's when Rrags comes to mind! Service is always quick and the food is always so good. The breakfast sandwich is somewhat customizable so you can add toppings to your liking (based on what they have). FYI - the parking lot is small and usually fills up. However, street parking is always an option!

Breakfast sandwich- thin but my Grandmother liked it.

This was a pleasant experience! I stopped by to get coffee and food after seeing this place pop up as a suggestion. I ordered a Lox bagel and iced black and white latte for myself, a breakfast sandwich for my Grandmother and an iced honey lavender oat latte for my sister. We loved our drinks; my latte "tasted like coffee" (and not sugar) and that was perfect. The Lox bagel was fresh and a bit burnt on the edges but nothing too bad or spectacular. I loved the various meat, bread and cheese options for the breakfast sandwich and got a bacon and pepper jack on wheat. My Grandmother liked it. The place was chill but definitely busy. The staff were patient and helpful as I looked the menu. The place was busy but clean and I was able to find a unoccupied table inside while I waited for my order.

Iced Honey Oat Latte, Iced Black and White Mocha

I came here to study a little with my boyfriend! It was a little rainy so I thought a hot honey and oat latte and toasted bagel with cream cheese was going to perfect for the cold weather. My boyfriend ordered a toasted Asiago bagel with jam and butter and an iced black and white mocha. I sadly received an iced honey oat latte but it's okay, I didn't mind too much so I just kept my drink. I tried the black and white mocha which was extremely sweet, opposite from the honey oat latte which just tasted like milk with espresso. On the other hand, the toasted bagels were delicious!! Perfectly toasted and was ready a couple minutes after I ordered. We sat in a corner of the cafe which was nice with having both the window and cozy interior of the cafe to look at when doing my assignment. All in all, not the best coffee but great bagels!

Our go-to favorites are the oyster po' boy, brisket po' boy, gumbo, jambalaya, and the seafood platter--but honestly, everything is good, trust me. I've tried almost everything on their menu. Owners, Danny and Naomi, are doing it right! Danny works his magic in the kitchen while Naomi welcomes everyone with a smile at the window. Great food is one thing, but it's the combination of incredible flavors and genuine hospitality that keeps us coming back. We've recommended The Workshop to just about everyone we know. Today we brought my Auntie and Uncle and my uncle originally from New Orleans was impressed! I sat there excited to see his reaction to every bite! Well, they ordered more food to take home with them for dinner and Danny and Naomi were so kind to gift them their homemade cajun seasoning blend! And what I learned, there is a tradition in New Orleans to "give something extra" at no charge as a gesture of generosity and appreciation- well, there you have it, we just got lagniapped!! I love them even more!!! If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and go. This is one of Benicia's true gems.

Unlike the Fairfield location, I have been able to get seated in a reasonable time at the Benicia location. They're popular, but not to the point of waiting 45+ minutes. I believe they're only open during breakfast/brunch times. Parking isn't too difficult if you don't mind walking a little from the main part of the parking center lot. The corner by Huckleberry's is often full. Ive been a couple times and the quality and service have been consistently good. Of the foods I'd recommend the fried green tomatoes and fried okra for starters. They're also one of few places offering beignets. For entrees the crab cake Benedict is good. The portions are filling. Ambiance is very casual. The utensils come in a little paper pouch and the napkins are paper towels on a dowel at each table. This particular location can look a bit dim. I think it's because of the direction of the windows. It's tasty and if you've been to Huckleberry's before you won't be disappointed by this one either.

Added my self-chopped anchovies as I desired. The California veggie omelette was cooked exactly as I wanted it - soft - and drenched with very tasty hollandaise sauce as requested. Hash browns very nicely Brown. I think one of the veggies was not fresh, but not a big problem I asked for ice water which the service person brought in a wine glass, a nice touch. + slices of lemon, which I ask for. Quick, efficient and friendly service in a white tablecloth setting. There's an annual Street Fair across the street. So an easy live Jazz graced the outside brick patio I was seated in . They call it garden seating, but there's not enough plants to call it a garden. Also the the connecting door and building is in contrast quite dusty with flaked paint.. For the diner who faces it, like me today, it distracts from the overall authentic historic charm. Sailor Jack's was formally a house. I will be back more soon. Bring a few friends.

I ordered the tomato prawns with linguine and toasted French bread. My partner had the prawn cocktail with a side garden salad. We also ordered iced tea, which turned out to be Brisk literally Brisk, not fresh brewed tea. For a waterfront restaurant overlooking the Carquinez Bridge, with entrées running around $29, I expected a little more attention to quality. My linguine tasted like what I can only describe as an upscale cafeteria meal. The tomato sauce had a noticeable heat to it that I don't remember seeing described on the menu, and the overall flavor lacked depth. I ended up needing plenty of lemon, Parmesan cheese, and butter just to bring some life into the dish. The prawn cocktail was extremely spicy and also missed the mark. Between both meals, the food simply lacked luster. There was also an odd metallic aftertaste that made me wonder whether some of the food had been sitting or prepared in industrial metal pans. I can't say for certain what caused it, but it was noticeable enough to affect the experience. The bright spots were the strawberry lemonade and the warm bread, both of which I actually enjoyed. What disappointed me most was that the restaurant wasn't particularly busy on this Saturday afternoon, so I expected the kitchen to have a little more room to put care into the plates. Instead, the food felt like it lacked love, effort, and the kind of detail that makes you feel good about spending nearly $30 per entrée. Sailor Jack's has one of those settings that should make the meal memorable. Unfortunately, this time the view carried the experience more than the food did. Would I return? Maybe but probably just to try a burger, enjoy the scenery, and keep my expectations much lower. Overall: beautiful location, underwhelming food, and definitely a meal that lacked luster.

The service is consistently excellent, especially from my favorite waitress, the lovely Linda. She is upbeat, welcoming, attentive, and always makes you feel right at home. Best of all, she keeps that coffee cup FULL--it never runs dry! Her warm, friendly service makes every visit feel personal and appreciated. Now, let's talk about the food. Joy of Eating serves some of the BEST country potatoes in town. I've tried plenty of breakfast spots throughout Vallejo, and these potatoes stand out: hot, flavorful, and perfectly satisfying. The omelets are beautifully prepared, the pancakes are delicious, and the coffee is always fresh and enjoyable. On my latest visit, I customized the Garden Omelet, which comes with spinach, tomatoes, onions, and mushrooms. I added turkey sausage and cheddar cheese, and the combination was excellent. I paired it with those incredible country potatoes and the homemade toast and that toast is absolutely OFF THE CHAIN! Add a little mixed berry jelly, and you have a breakfast worth coming back for. The atmosphere is peaceful, comfortable, and wonderfully down-home. It's the kind of place where you can settle in, enjoy a full cup of coffee, savor a hearty meal, and start your day on the right note. I usually visit two or three times a month, primarily for breakfast. I've heard great things about their sandwiches and lunch selections, but breakfast keeps pulling me back. Whether you live in Vallejo or are visiting the area, Joy of Eating is a fantastic choice for a classic, satisfying breakfast with genuinely friendly service. I highly recommend it. And when you go, ask for Linda! Tell her Tamika from Poetry by the Cup sent you. Definitely one of Vallejo's breakfast gems!
