Finding a good burger in Reno, NV has been getting harder. Stopped by the Royce in Midtown. Glad we did because these burgers are Juicy! and delicious!. As soon as we walked in, it's a bar with some cool decor all over and some bartenders that welcomed us in and gave us some menus. As soon as you order you can sit inside or outside. The inside have some limited seating with couches and bar seating. We ordered the Royce burgers. I ordered one with an extra patty but later realized that these burgers already come with two patties. Ended up eating a 3 patty royce burger was even more delicious with lots of flavor in the patties and sauce that brings together the burger. We also ordered some fries on the side. The fries were very crispy and perfect side to the burger. They have a house made BBQ sauce that I ordered for the fries. Overall awesome burger spot! read more

Fire Like you wanna talk about a smash burger that absolutely hits the spot?! This would be it!! So freaking delish! I'm also a huge fan of the staff! Really rad and nice, remember you, and a good atmosphere. I get the green chilies burger and could eat like 40 of them and never get sick of it. The fries are fantastic as well! Shoe string ish and crispy. Yes please! Up front It's dive bar vibes. But in the best way! Not dirty, but welcoming, and homey! The back has extra seating to accommodate groups of 4+ and usually a sporting event is on the tvs. So far my favorite burger spot in Reno! read more

It was our first time coming to Reno and heard so much about Royce and their menu. We barely arrived at 8:03 pm. Website and yelp stared it closed at 9:00pm. No where on the website or Yelp stated that the kitchen closed 1HOUR before closing. We walked into the restaurant, no one greeted us. Waiter was at the register talking to another person. Didn't know if it was a customer or not but, the conversation seemed friendly like they knew each other. We stood there for about 5 minutes before anyone said anything to us. We ended up helping ourselves and grabbing a menu. THATS when the waiter FINALLY had the nerve to tell us that the kitchen already closed at 8. Didn't offer anything suggestions or even say sorry. For it being our first time, that's the worst customer service experience ever. No greeting, no acknowledgment, no apology or even asking if it's been our first time. Waiter completely disregarded us. Same as the staff at the bar who just looked at us. Waiter had RED HAIR, bangs, dark lashes. And had no customer service care whatsoever. VERY RUDE read more

We came here on so many promises for the best burger in Reno. Even though we totally dug the atmosphere and had what can be considered a tasty burger... I can definitely say that I've had better ones in the Reno area. So first things first - you order at the counter inside, and it's a fun setup with Chicago memorabilia and old school menu board. We got the "from the tank" rose for $6 on happy hour and... let me tell you... it definitely tastes like it's from the tank. There's a restaurant just down the street that has $5 rose on happy hour that is so much more drinkable! I would skip this one any day. So anyway, we sat on the cool little patio and waited not too long for our food. The burger looks so impressive and comes out lookin' hot and juicy. The sauce and cheese are tasty and the bun is really soft and the smash burgers are fun... but it just fell short for us. You can't taste the beef at all. We added jalapeños pickles and we couldn't taste them either. This is definitely a good riff on like an in-and-out burger, but not quite the big juicy burger we were hoping for. The fries looked super seasoned and were ok. Good hot wings with great Buffalo sauce. Overall, I appreciate the popularity of this place, but I think the hype let us down. We will definitely be back to try the pork belly bites and other fun-looking menu items. Until then, we continue our hunt for the best burger in Reno! read more

Biting into a Royce burger is a visceral experience. Every burger is juicy, complex, and perfectly cooked. It makes me emotional (in the best way) every time I eat it. This is the best burger in town. Every time I go, I am reminded how incredible these burgers are. This time, I ordered the Frenchified burger and didn't have time to snap a photo because it smelled so good I just wolfed it down. The Gruyère and caramelized onions are the perfect topping for a perfect burger. I am drooling just thinking about it. Their fries are seasoned with a house seasoning that is to die for and, especially when dipped in their fry sauce, is *chef's kiss*. They have a few comfy couches to eat at and some outdoor space as well. It gets pretty busy so be prepared to wait especially on the weekends. It is always well worth the wait though. Thank you, Royce for creating the best burger in Reno! read more

Royce has become my favorite burger spot. From the food to the service and the vibes. Located downtown with outdoor and indoor seating. When you walk in the first thing you'll do is order. You may think the only seating is by the bar but there is more seating in the back. A Royceburger is a MUST and the Buffalo wings are a plus! If you like wasabi, I recommend ordering the wasabi ranch. We've had almost everything on the menu - shishito peppers, poutine fries, pork belly bites, the bbq burger and the frenchified burger. You can't go wrong with whatever you order! The service is great every time and the cooks always seem to be having a good time. Ps. Don't forget to pick up a burger card! read more

Rated mostly on the burger of course, The smash burger is so far the best around, should be a 4.8 on yelp, because so many other burger places are not as deserving at 4.4 to 4.6. The sear was perfect, ratio or protein to bread good, fixings was a good ratio. Fries are great here. Far too noisy in here for a date, i'd suggest singles. read more

We heard some good things about this place and of course we had to check the food out as we already knew the drinks are good. It is an interesting entrance at first. It is open seating with a couple booths and a couple tables lounge style with bar seating as well but also a whole room in the back by the kitchen that probably seats 40 or so more people. Also YOU NEED TO ORDER AT THE FRONT COUNTER. we sat there for about 30 minutes before realizing a small sign on the corner that said that. While the hostess brought us water and didn't inform us. We ordered a basket of portobello fries, which are literally mushroom battered strips, good at first but a whole basket of mushroom is a bit overwhelming. A friend ordered the Royce burger and I got the Portobello mushroom burger with an impossible patty, and subbed fries for the chips. Both of us thought it was just an average burger however the fries were good. I will try it one more time before sticking the fork in it and just stick to the drinks. read more

After filling up half of my budget stamp card (5/10) I finally have gotten around to writing this review because I can honestly say this is the best Gluten-free Burger in town. Other places have GF buns but this one is superb - it holds together despite the sauce and cheese and I'm never reduced to eating it in bits or with a fork. Also, the smash burger itself is just amazing. The shoe-string fries are also gluten-free, which is a bonus! Beyond the burger I love everything about this place - the vibe, the staff, the cocktails. read more

The positives: price for product on point. Appetizers for less than $10, not huge but good perfect size for what it is. Same with the burgers, even with chips not fries, very satisfied with price and quantity. The mid: If you want to add on anything, the price is hefty. $4 up charge for an Impossible burger? You can get them for almost the same price as ground beef at Costco. $.75 for extra sauce in a 2 oz cup? I get people abuse the extras but that's a bit much. The negative: I had to repeat my order for 4 people several times to the bartender...just write it down to ensure you get it right, easy solution. Even with repeating it and then standing in front of the computer, they still messed it up. Then when I told them an item was missing, they asked multiple times do I still want my meal (yes I'm hungry) and then coworkers continued to try to decide who was at fault in front of me before starting my order. read more

Great time, good food, wonderful service. It gets packed during dinner/lunch rushes so be prepared for patience. Fantastic Burgers. I'de say the best in town. We had the Royce Burger which was very good but the French Fried Burger was over the top delish! It left me wanting MORE! The restaurant is cozy and a little romantic. There's outside seating. And they're serving until 10pm which is an 1hr later than most restaurants Downtown that aren't in a casino. It is walking distance from the River Walk. read more

Update: I decided to give this establishment a few more stars because the owner and the other bartender were actually very nice. I appreciate the owner wanting to make it right but still am unsure if I will go back. The main reason for the review was to just offer suggestions for their new customers. After talking to my friend she mentioned there was a small sign explaining where to order but she didn't see it till after the fact and I never seen it. Its dark inside and with the back room looking like a restaurant I was unaware there are no servers. My main suggestions is that communication goes a long ways and I would of never left a negative review had things been made more clear, not got an attitude for asking questions and the food had been worth the cost. With that said I want to thank the owner for his professionalism, kindness and respect. This place was recommended to me as it was supposed to be the best burger in town, but I disagree. Their food is way overpriced and their hamburgers didn't taste much different than In-and -Out Burger. To top it off, i felt like the bartender had an attitude towards me . I would have said something but didn't want to ruin my friend's time as she didn't see him rolling his eyes when she was ordering and just wanted to leave a few things of a couple burgers. We had menus in our hands and said we would be ordering food but yet he never asked us if we were ready to order and when the rush of people came in he took their orders. I politely asked if we could get our order in since we were there before all these other people and with what came off as an annoyed reply he made it sound like it was our fault because we had only ordered drinks. Sorry but good customer service is usually the employee asking at some point if we were ready to order. It was our first time here so we were unaware of how things worked or that they got busier at a certain time. I guess their regular customers can order without a side of attitude. If you're going to have an attitude when ordering food, your food better be outstanding (especially for the price) but in my opinion it was not. Also, I suggest that you shouldn't ask people if they want fries, salad or chips without telling them that the fries are three dollars extra and maybe leave off the snappy response when people ask if they can get a different side then basic store bought potato chips. We spent over $100 here and after the service they still didn't get the order right. I could look past everything else if the food was actually excellent. I won't be returning or recommending this place. read more

Cannot speak highly enough about Royce and its burgers!! Honestly I've never been so happy to see a place offer a gluten free alternative so I can feel less guilty and come more frequently! They also offer a portabello burger or impossible patty options if that's your jam. Also have kid burgs and grilled cheese for my son! Idk what magic these guys put into their burgers and the fries but SO TASTY, I literally crave this place. A Reno staple MUST if you are visiting! Warning, the place gets packed from about 5:00-8-00ish almost everyday so plan accordingly if you're in a hurry. it is a quaint little joint but if you enjoy a good vibe good burger and good cocktails there is plenty of seating with bar seating, lounge couches, and a dining room in the back. Service is quick however if you come during rush food could take up to an hour but be patient because it is definitely worth it! While you wait it only costs a dollar to roll the dice, let's call it a Royce roll, $1 to get all 5 die the same number and win some money! Downed my double patty burger in 7 minutes with about 10 napkins.. if that doesn't speak for itself idk what does! read more

Best burger in town! It tastes like a burger that was grilled in your backyard. The staff is vey straight forward which might not be for everyone but I don't mind them. They just want to help and get on with their day. Not the friendliest but I get it. You go there for the burger! read more

This is definitely the spot to go if you're looking for a burger and fries that are not gonna let you down! Their Royce burger is super incredible but if you're lucky, they do have specials from time to time and tonight's Chef special was a pork belly burger with chips, but I substituted fries which are amazing with fry sauce or ranch. It's pretty busy, but that's what comes with being one of the best burger joints in town! Definitely recommend coming at a decent time to get some patio seating outside watching the sunset while having an amazing burger! read more

What else can I say about Royce. Anytime I'm in the mood for a burger, Royce comes up first. I try to tell myself "try somewhere NEW John!" But I never do. Royce is too good, too consistent to pass up! And that's just the burger. Their wings, poutine fries, drinks are all Smackin!!! You really can't go wrong with their Buffalo or imperialism Japanese chicken wings. Highly recommend. Same with the poutine fries and pork belly bites. As for their drinks take your pick, they do everything right. My girlfriends personal favorite is the Royce refresher with Gin, but you really can't go wrong with any. Their menu isn't ROBUST, but that's okay, what they do they do right, consistent, and tasty! They're always top of my list of recommended places for people visiting Reno. Love ya Royce! read more

Went here for a quick bite before a comedy show, and it hit the spot! Their Royce Burger was classic, with American Cheese and the works. We got a few appetizers, but the pork belly stood out the most - it was amazingly tender and crisp. However I wish they had some less greasy options for sides, because I felt greased-out from the burger and pork belly. I'll also mention that the ambiance of this joint is real classic. Its wood walls and curved booths felt nostalgic somehow - plus there are candles at each table which I thought was a cute touch. I'd probably come here again when I'm in the mood to indulge in a solid burger in a pleasant location. If this is your first time going to Royce, just an FYI that it's self-seating style and you do have to order at the bar. read more

Starting 2025 out with a "burger" joint is a little different for me. However, reading the reviews had me intrigued. Shishito Peppers: I went into these with not much anticipation, this was my favorite thing that we got. Whoever said lets dry rub some peppers and grill them up was a literal genius! Fried Cheese Curds: minimal breading and a whole lotta cheese. They even held up as left overs in the morning. Imerialish Japanese Wings: delicious flavor and the wings them selves were HUGE. Green Chili Burger: decent enough. 1 chili at the middle of the burger and it was really good. That being said the burger was really dry until the center point. This also may have been because it was a to go order. French Fries: as simple as this portion of your meal is, they kept it delicious and straight to the point. Their ranch and fry sauce definitly taste house made, each with their own individual "flare". GO AND TRY IT, COMPLETELY WORTH IT!! GOING FOR THE ROYCE BURGER NEXT TIME THOUGH!! read more

The burger was very tasty. The people were nice. The restaurant was kind of quirky, small inside but plenty of outside space.

Royce is the place I go when I want the best burger in town, excellent fries, and a real neighborhood atmosphere where the bartenders and servers actually know my name. Joey even remembers that I didn't like a certain type of wine and will steer me toward another. And ugh the burger is so good! It's two thinner patties that are seasoned instead of just salted, and the lettuce, tomato, and onion are always fresh. The fries are a bit thicker than shoestrings, perfect for getting the seasonings in each bite. The atmosphere is lively if you go after work and then nicely mellow at other times. Sitting by the fireplace with a burger and wine: what more could I need? read more

Good burgers and even better fries. Definitely more of a bar vibe than a restaurant and lots of the seating is outside. You order at the bar and they bring the food out to you. We sat inside and once it got full of guests it got a little loud. Wait wasn't too long, but do expect a wait for the delicious food. read more

Perfect place to grab a night before a show at The Pioneer. Not many seats...so arrive with the knowledge that it can be crowded. We were lucky to grab a booth for 4 at 5pm on a snowy night. Amazing peppers perfectly crispy and salted bring the heat. The wings and fries were excellent as well. Decent house. Chardonnay. Did not love the burger and it is a burger lounge. But loved the vibe and service. They use straws which is always disappointing. read more

Another one! Royce is most definitely a hidden gem. Stopped by here yesterday for a bite to eat and OMG... the WINGS! hear me out... the cook did not disappoint. I ordered the imperialish Japanese wings and fries with the wasabi ranch. Although I was a bit on the fence about getting them I went for it and so glad I did. If you like a savory taste with a hint of sweet these wings are for you. The only con was the wasabi ranch, it was just not within my tastebuds. I didn't get any drinks but was I tempted... DUH! I also got to play the roll the dice game but I didn't win Overall, great drink options both classic and creative and they have a Michelada drink machine, dope! S/o to my buddy Jas! This was a great recommendation for a mid week outing and the bar attendants were super sweet and attentive. I will be back! read more

I've been coming here since I moved in the area and they added their kitchen in 2020 and I can definitely vouch they have one of the best burgers in Reno. THE Royce Burger with grilled onions will satisfy your hunger for a big but not too big burger with quality. More like a hipster version of a Double Double for those In n Out lovers. Comes with a side of chips with a choice of fries for an extra price. The setting is comfortable with inside seating either at the bar or the lounge areas in the front and back. Outside seating is nice for Spring and Summer months. Ample parking nearby or easy walk from downtown from Sierra street. The vibe reminds me of your local neighborhood hipster bar with the best comfort food. Other than the burger they have delicious wings, fries, cheese curds and plenty more. They even have bags of chips on the way if you'd like something fast to munch on. Drinks to try is their cucumber refresher and their michelada dispenser looks fun to try someday. read more

If you like Burgers, you're gonna love this place. Best burger in Reno Some of you OR a lot of you think the place with the large yellow arrow, little palm trees on their cups is the place to get a great animal style burger. If you like being INN-N-ABOUT but thought to yourself I wish this place had alcohols, then brother have I got the place for you!!! Here you can get a burger that will taste like your favorite burger, except that your gourmet family cook made it just for you. Comes with chips but I suggest upgrading to fries with fry sauce. Once you try this master work, you will ask yourself, WHY haven't I come in sooner? The Royce burger has smash patties and is epic. You owe it to yourself to come in and try one. If you do go in there's a big burly buffalo who sports a nice beard that can show you the works. His name is Bill, or maybe Jack or John... we'll I don't remember his name but he looks like John Candy in his prime sporting whiskers, you can't miss him. Get a stamp card and fill that baby up with burger orders from here. You will thank me later. read more

Food- ordered the Royce burger. Very good burger, not the best ever but very good. I had super high expectations based on word of mouth and reviews about Royce, so it probably couldn't live up to those standards no matter what! Would add a few extra items to the burger next time like jalapeños and bacon. Fries were good, $3 extra. Service- sat at the bar and was waited on promptly. No issues with service, not above or below average. Ambiance- Older house converted to restaurant/bar and it's nice, eclectic. Second time being there but first time eating there and both times, I felt the same about the clientele/ambiance and that is it's a pretty young crowd, i.e. college aged to young 30 something's. Overall very good and will go back. read more

Friendly staff, great atmosphere very good burgers and brews. Had a good time watching sports and playing their dice game.

Six years have passed since my last review, but not my last visit to Royce. I will admit that before tonight though, my lady visit wasn't that recent, and that's solely because life circumstances had changed which precluded me from visiting. Well, a random outreach to a good friend landed me a seat in a booth in their "newish" dining room for dinner and drinks, and color me impressed again! I've long loved the vibe here. It's old school and nostalgic with all the hits of modern you could want. It's swank enough to enjoy a nicer cocktail but also nostalgic enough to sip on an old fashioned or neat spirit and feel right at home too. Two Russel's reserve neat pours for me and an order to chicken wings and perfectly seasoned shoestring fries had me happy as a clam kicking it here. The bartenders were super friendly and the table service was too. Everyone in the place was smiling and after tonight, I won't be waiting as long to return read more

The great hamburger debate has a new contender. Royce Burger bar has a fantastic burger that could rival any place in Reno. The Royce burger is a deliciously cooked double patty served on a soft potato bun. They cook it to order and medium well is a great choice. In addition, the well seasoned shoestring fries are wonders with the burger. There are four other burger choices on the menu and trying all of them is in the future.
