After seeing a couple reviews of Royals Mollete, I knew I wanted to try it the next time I passed through Monroe. We ordered a Monroe-style pepperoni pizza, a cherry pastry, a strawberry pastry, a Nutella pastry and a slice of caramel-chocolate cheesecake. My favorite items were the cherry pastry and the cheesecake. I would definitely buy those two items again. I was not fond of the Nutella pastry which mostly tasted like phyllo dough with little flavor. Th pizza was interesting but not particularly special in my opinion. It needed more and better sauce, but if you love a thick crust and lots of cheese, it might be up your alley. The quantity of pepperoni on the pizza however was impressive. read more

Their sourdough with parm crusted pizza, was outstanding. I added ham and not Italian sausage but their sausage which is a small flavorful link about breakfast sausage sized and Spanish ham is known for being great. Creamy cheese and a sprinkling of seasoning. Damn. The owner and his employee were nice. The best pizza in Monroe usually comes from bars having a good night, for $12-14 this 12" pizza from a pretty amazing bakery/eatery is worth the trip. I'll be back. Monroe has great pizza now. The service was authentic and friendly. The baker was an interesting person to chat with. The decor is industrial but clean. We didn't order a pizza this time, but we'll get one in a couple of weeks. This place has a really good yelp rating, but I'm not sure what all the hype is about. We drove from Toledo to check it out. The pastries and cheesecake were good and the service was great. The interior is laid out oddly and you're not really sure what to do when you walk in. They have pizza too, but we don't try it. I have really enjoyed everything I have tried here so far. The #1 sandwich was very good, the meat was easy to chew and flavorful, the sauce was everything!!! The donuts, both Nutella and custard were some of the best I've had. They have Spanish omelettes that look amazing, but I haven't yet tried. I will be going back to do that soon. Lots of interesting pastries. I have a crème brûlée one for later tonight that looks almost to good to eat, but we will lol. Highly recommend you check them all. The paella was horrible and overpriced, mushy, overcooked and was not made with quality ingredients. First time trying this place. Didn't have any idea what to get, but we ended up getting a garlic beef, garlic soup, and a donut. The garlic beef was excellent. The bread and aioli really make this an exceptional sandwich. The garlic soup is very warming and isn't as strong as you might think garlic soup would be. The donut had some weight, but light and airy at the same time. Fast, friendly service and they got the food out pretty quickly. Went back the next day and noticed that they will have pizza soon. came here after seeing a bunch of awesome reviews on facebook and a relative speaking highly of it. the pizza was AWESOME, like so so good. heavy with toppings, the cheese on it was out of this world, and it was a great price. we also ordered the seafood paella, which was fresh and delicious- the shrimp in it was some of the best i've ever had. on top of that, the pastries looked too good to miss out. the owner is amazing and incredibly hardworking, waking up early to freshly make his pastries, making his pizza dough from scratch, and interacting with customers. this place is awesome. was so awesome to find a taste of spain in monroe read more

Ordered a large pepperoni pizza, only one crust option "Monroe style" and apparently that means thick on the edge around it that you hold. There was a lot of pepperoni and decent amount of cheese and sauce, all had good flavor. The issue w this crust is that the part you hold rises so much that all the toppings shift toward the middle. You will wait a while as it was a 30 min cook time. Got there a little early and bought several pastries, all were very good and not overly sweet. read more

What a little hidden gem in Monroe. Stopped off here on my way home and to my surprise it was an amazing! I ordered a coffee and the crash eggs but no wrap and WOW!!!!! Made me feel like I was back in Spain. So delicious! It had potatoes bravas, alioli, two eggs, bacon, cheese. I also order two pasties, one apple and one cherry and they were just as amazing. Fantastic Spanish pastries. I stopped by late in the day expecting not many pastries left. And they do go quickly as this bakery is seeing more customers with every passing day - great sign! I was able to get a crème brûlée molette and a kiwi molette. The Barcelona cream on these pastries is fantastic. Not too sweet but a creamy welcoming flavor. The molette itself is wonderful. They also have Spanish hot foods too - will have to try. Spanish coffee also excellent. And a got the potato and onion Spanish omelette to take home for today's breakfast. Wow! Absolutely phenomenal! A must try. And the staff is extremely welcoming. This is a very unique bakery to Monroe and Southeastern Michigan, if not all of Michigan. If you are a foodie, this is an absolute must go! Not your typical bakery or pastery shop... its SO much better! The mollete rolls are yeasty and chewy, the Barcelona cream on the pastries is velvety smooth and not too sweet. I stopped here because I've heard so many good things about this place. I was having folks over for dinner and needed dessert. I decided to grab an assortment of their pastries and they looked so yummy. so after dinner I had taken and cut them in 4's because they were so large and people got to taste several different ones. my company raved about my dinner but said the desserts were a great addition. the desserts are very light and delicious . I will definitely stop by for more. they do have lunch items that look yummy and carry a variety of Spanish dishes. Dateline - Monroe, Michigan. In a nondescript shopping mall, with plenty of parking. Clean and neat interior. Half dozen or so two-person tables. Ladywife and I stopped there on a Wednesday lunch hour, after Yelp suggested this as a sandwich option on our way from Detroit to Columbus. We were only customers. We ordered the garlic beef and Grandmother's Chicken, not knowing what to expect having never eaten mollettes before. Both were open-faced sourdough bread roll sandwiches, good soft yet chewy bread. A highpoint of the sandwich. The beef was tender with a nice garlic seasoning. Both came with Lettuce tomato onion pepperoncino peppers,. Solid good sandwiches made quickly at reasonable prices ($8.90 for the garlic beef, $6.90 the chicken). Dessert we got an open-faced baked apple and custard tart sort of thing on a light, flaky, layered dough, with almond slivers on top. Quite good. Not cloyingly sweet. They had multiple - strawberry, kiwi, blueberry and others - to choose among. At $3 it was easily enough for two people. Service was quick, though could've been a little more proactive in describing or explaining things. Would definitely return if was in the Monroe area. read more

Grandmas Chicken sandwich was great! I want to try the pizza soon! Great service too.

We had been hearing a lot about this restaurant, most of it good. We go out for dinner every Friday and always look for a locally owned place to try. When we walked in we noticed the owner was all by himself serving his customers. He took time to speak to each of his customers and take their orders. It was a bit of a wait before he took our order (20 min). Once he had our order we had the food in our hands in about 10 minutes. The food (spicy garlic beef wrap and pepperoni pannini) was great. We were looking at the pizzas he was making and we will be back to try those too. He is very generous with his toppings unlike the the other franchise pizza places. We will be back. Went in for dinner - what we ate was tasty, but the sandwiches are quite small and we were still hungry after finishing. The meat for our sandwiches was kind of oddly sitting in teflon pans in a glass case (seemed warm-ish at least). Looots of grease when we picked them up, probably the only criticism of the food. There don't appear to be any options for sides / meals / combos either, which all seems kind of odd. Server was friendly and attentive, the place seemed clean, but it's just an odd situation somehow. Phenomenal baked goods, in many varieties. I would urge people to try some of their unusual pastry option, I particularly love their squash glazed pastry- phenomenal! Their gazpacho is not always available, but definitely worth a try. I look forward to trying their house made sandwiches. They make their own bread, which is absolutely divine. We visited 2nd day open last Saturday for magical desserts like we've never eaten before. A delicious Apple n Barcelona Cream OMG absolutely fantastic,  a Spaghetti Squash filled n topped with mind blowing flavors.  A Chocolate type filled Mollete outstanding.  Most unique flavorful sandwich the Mollete Garlic Beef WOWED a instant addiction,  nothing like this in the USA.  I  have so much to learn about this food.  Had Barcelona Gazpacho Spanish cookbooks classify gazpacho as a salad. The most frequently encountered gazpacho is an uncooked mixture of tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, water, vinegar, onions, cucumbers, and green peppers, thickened with bread crumbs. We so Loved this drink bought a big cup for the ride home. A colleague brought some beautiful pastries and fantastic cheesecake into work and the whole office was very impressed. She also brought some omelets and mollete bread, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. It was all incredibly flavorful and delicious, with absolutely perfect textures, and the aioli is just outstanding; she actually ended up bringing me a whole bottle of the aioli a week or so later because I raved so much.
