Fresh Start Coffee House is... perfect. From the aesthetic charm to the mission, this quaint little coffee house is a must! On a foggy Saturday morning, heading South (I-75), we decided we should stop for some coffee. Unfamiliar with Monroe and wanting something other than gas station coffee, I found Fresh Start Coffee House. It's less than a mile off of the highway and worth the deviation. This unique little shop offers artisan coffee, inspired food and conversation. Paula and Vic, who own the shop engaged us as soon as we walked in. They offered recommendations and were genuinely polite. They told us that they employ people who are in recovery, re-entry and with special needs. Their space is available for church groups, community organizations and other community meetings. They also feature live bands on occasion. The coffee was amazing. We both got "Paula's Perfect", although we'll be back to try others we wanted. We got the carrot/berry (Morning Glory) muffin and it was delicious. The ambiance was fun, clean and well designed. The prices were fair and well worth the support of their mission. They also sell merchandise, art and other trinkets. If you are passing through, do yourself a favor and check Fresh Start Coffee House out. It's a hidden gem in Monroe, and a new regular stop for us. read more

This place was located across from our campground and I read about it online and really wanted to check it out. We went later in the afternoon. and we were the only customers in there. We were quickly greeted and pointed to the menu to review our drink options. I chose a hot pistachio latte with almond milk and it was perfect. I'm so glad I got to check this place out and I would definitely stop again if I was in the area. read more

First rate coffees and spirit. They work for a mission, providing employment opportunities and training for people at the margins.

We were heading south for a funeral, but my friend needed a morning coffee. She remembered seeing the sign for Coffee here a few times driving home. She wasn't sure if it was even still here, but we decided to drive over to check it out. We were pleasantly surprised to find it open. We were even more surprised to walk in and see how welcoming it felt. Very nicely decorated and set up. They were very kind and we shared a little about ourselves and they did too. My friend said the coffee was awesome. I got a hot chocolate with real cream and it was amazing. We will definitely be back. They shared their mission with us and that they hold a church service on Sunday mornings as well as a prayer service on Wednesdays. This coffee shop was a nice place to get some delicious coffee and breakfast. The people working there were friendly, and the coffee and food were brought to our table in good time (maybe 5 minutes for our drinks and 10-15 minutes for the food). The place has a nice, relaxed coffee shop vibe. We would definitely go there again if we are in the area. read more

Coffee shop was cute, service was honestly terrible. We were the only customers there and we got two bagels with egg and bacon and it took 30 minutes! We asked how long the food would take as we were heading to families for thanksgiving dinner and had a long drive ahead of us. They said it would take another 10 minutes. When we asked if we could have a refund they argued with us about how it isn't a fast food restaurant and that they needed to just package the food. Why does it take 10 minutes to wrap food in foil! We left without our food and no refund as they still took longer and proceeded to microwave our food. read more

Very welcoming and nice staff. They make a very good coffee. My lavender latte was delicious. It's a nice place for a drink (they also have food) and chat. They have plenty of tables and couches. read more

What a gem this place was! Just happened to notice a sign on the road saying fresh coffee pulled into the parking lot and was pleasantly surprised with how nice it was inside and how sweet the employees were. I had Sumatra coffee and it was better than expected. I would definitely come back again and recommend it to everyone!! read more
