While it is important to help starving children in third world countries, it is essential that we don't neglect the ones that live in our area. Many of these families are desperately struggling to earn a living, stay together and survive. Be grateful if you have enough. Share some with others until they can get their lucky break, too. The downtown Saline office of SASS is crowded and busy with activity. The entrance is near Saline Downtown Diner, at the back of the block including Dan's Tavern. Some staff are there consistently, but you might be talking to a volunteer. They do what they can with what they have. They need donations: money, non-perishable and even perishable food including fruits and vegetables from your own garden, because they have a refrigerator and a freezer. So if you have extra of any type of food, please bring it by. They collect toiletries. The smaller travel size is preferred, but if you have full-size toiletries, they wait until they have about 120 of any given item and then they do a "distribution." At the end of the year, my church and many others in the area host a toiletries drive and collect shampoo & conditioner, bar soap & body wash, diapers, etc. that every family needs to function. Each of the churches in Saline including mine put together food baskets and gifts (for example, socks in specific sizes for boy, girl, man or woman) for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. That way, each person contributes just a little to make up a very nice windfall for each local family currently under the care of SASS, which coordinates the distribution of all of these baskets, so it makes giving logistically easier for an individual. If you wish to do some good, give them a call and stop by with a donation. During the summer months the pantry can get pretty bare so if you are into warehouse shopping, put something extra into your cart, then take it to SASS.

Their location right off of I-75 at the exit 34A makes it very easy to get to. I bought a semi-truck with a CAT engine a couple years ago. I wanted to get it in on a dynamometer in order to get a good health check of the engine. Since then, I have contacted the Novi location, then finally their Metro South location (Brownstown Township). Each time I was unable to schedule an appointment. In the truck world, engine repair can be performed at most any decent repair facility, but dyno testing with all the proprietary electronics has to be done at an authorized dealer. First off - it is difficult to get in here on the dynamometer, same goes for their Novi location. Scheduling is '1st come, 1st served', so no matter what, seven to ten days is what you hear whenever you call for a Dyno appointment. Luckily, I am out of town for a week and will just have to idle my truck at Michigan CAT. I hope it's closer to 7 days and not 10. When I visited, I found their truck repair facility to be neat and clean, with various trucks in the process of being repaired. Truck parking outside the gates was pretty full, but with 7 to 10 days worth of customers parking outside, I can see why. Of course, they also repair any and all equipment produced by the Caterpillar Corp., and that equipment was parked inside the gates. A warning to all parents!!! Friends and Family Daycare only cares about the money and not your…read morechild! Tracy, the owner of Friends and Family made it very apparent that we were replaceable as she has a waitlist a year long! Backstory: My fiancé Olga and I had our first child at the end of May. We were fortunate enough to be in a position that Olga could work from home and then work part time at her office after our daughter was born. Our lease was up in September and so we were looking to move to the Clinton, Tecumseh, Adrian area. Friends and Family came highly recommended by one of our close friends who currently have their son enrolled there. They did not have an opening in the infant room until the start of the year but that was fine as our schedules allowed Olga to continue to work part time in the office while continuing to care for our child. At the start of daycare our daughter 7 months old and her and Olga formed a close bond so we knew that starting daycare was going to be a big change for our daughter. Olga expressed our concerns to Tracy but was assured that everything would be okay. On Monday, 1/2/2023 our daughter started day care and as suspected after a few hours was extremely fussy and we offered to come pick her up. Again this happened on Tuesday, and again we offered to pick her up early. On Wednesday our daughter immediately freaked out once she realized where she was but we left her hoping that she would be consoled and calm down after we were gone. Unfortunately this did not happen and again we picked her up. We tried discussing ways to help with the transition and how to make this easier for everyone and it was decided that I drop her off on Thursday. Thursday morning came and I dropped our daughter off and again immediately she began crying and we received message that she was inconsolable and that they have never had a baby be this fussy after 3-4 days in daycare. Again we picked up our daughter and Olga had a conversation with Tracy which left her very upset. Please note at no point did anyone from Friends and Family suggest to just leave her for the full day and let her cry it out or figure out that being fussy is not going to get us to come pick her up. In fact, it was quite the opposite and we were told essentially that Val's crying was being very disruptive to the other babies in the room and Tracy was concerned staff would quit over having to handle a fussy baby... After talking it over with friends who infants in day care, I reached out to Tracy in an effort to discuss the situation and how we can make this transition easy for everyone. During the conversation, Tracy' did make a few suggestions that could be helpful and we will be trying them, the overall impression I gained from the conversation was that my child is replaceable and if she does not become a model baby and not fussy within the next week we will be asked to leave. To quote Tracy during this conversation, "I have a wait list a year out and I can find another infant." Following our conversation I sent Tracy an email expressing our concerns and that it was apparent that our daughter is expected to fall in line or we would be asked to leave and that Friends and Family would not be providing any extra help during the transition process and that ultimately we have decided to terminate the relationship. Within 11 minutes of that email Tracy simply provided the most apathetic response of "Sorry that we couldn't work on this but with state guidelines we have to follow it was hard to do what Olga wanted us to do." We simply needed some guidance and asked for some extra help provided to our 7 month old daughter while she goes through this transition. We were not expecting such help to be provided indefinitely and if after a few weeks it was still a problem then we will look at other options. To further solidify my opinion that Tracy only cares about the money and all our children are easily replaceable. Not only did they not offer a refund of our deposit but about an our after terminating our relationship with Friends and Family Daycare I received an invoice for the four, half-days that our daughter spent there. See the attached email. Do yourself a favor and find another day care facility who actually cares about you and your family especially if you think your child transitioning to day care will be difficult or you might end up writing a similar email.

It provides the theatrical experience as well as enabling a close connection between the audience and the performers. The equipment is in good condition and the theater itself is attractive and interesting. I enjoyed the masks that were contained in wall cabinets around the theater. When going to this theatre take some consideration for parking. It is in a mixed residential and commercial area. There is some parking in the commercial area but you may find it more convenient to park in the neighborhood. It is an easy walk to the theater from throughout the area. I enjoyed a performance of Willy Wonka. The sound system was very good. The lighting was a pleasure. All in all it was an enjoyable evening and I am looking forward to the next event at the Down River Youth Performing Arts Center.

Just signed up for our first run at youth performing theatre. So far, the instructors are very…read morepatient, the front desk is organized, and the classes are not overfilled. I was very happy to see that the bathrooms are very well kept, especially with so many children running around. This theatre offers children's performing arts classes starting at 8/9 am until 4pm with a lunch break. The price is a little bit more then I expected, but the course runs for 6 weeks. I paid $185 for two 45 minute classes. At the end, the children perform their play on stage. Check out their website for both children's and adult performances and audition dates. It is a really cool environment for kids.
