This place is very cool...very cool indeed. A rating of five stars, based on atmosphere alone, would be appropriate! Obviously the theme is richly macabre. The spirit of Edgar Allan Poe, and Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega version) would find themselves very much at home in Nocturnal! Fortunately, the appeal of this place goes well beyond its cool vibe. The coffee is great. It's potent. It more than satisfied my incessant desire for STRONG FLAVORS! The other drinks that I tried were excellent as well. I didn't try any pastries or other snacks, but I have to admit that they looked very tempting. At first I would have thought that this place seems a little out of place in downtown Monroe. But after coming here a few times, and checking out the very interesting crowd, I realize that I was mistaken. I'll definitely be back, and I'll bring the wife. She'll love it too. This moody coffee shop is a vibe! It is usually only open during the evening. We caught it on upside down day which meant that they were actually open in the morning! Like I said.....a.....vibe......They were playing industrial rock music which is also a choice for 9 am. The building is neat. Exposed brick and the decorative touches give this place a New Orleans feel. I really enjoyed it. The coffee and service were both very good. I had a latte and it was quite smooth. I would definitely recommend it. You can add flavor for a small charge but I just had it plain. We also ordered a peanut butter explosion cookie. Wow was it rich and decadent. We couldn't finish it but I loved the peanut butter whip on top. So good! If I lived in the area I would be a regular. Highly recommended. read more

I brought a friend who is a coffee fanatic here after visiting the Museum of Horror. It was definitely worth the trip. Great decor.

I tried a chocolate frog from the new drink menu last night. My friend tried the dark mark. The chocolate frog was just lovely. Very chocolatey with just the right amount of peppermint. My friend was very happy with her drink as well. Such a sweet little spot to sit, chat and catch up or unwind from a long day. It is decorated with a spooky Christmas Harry Potter vibe right now. The staff is always nice and make you feel welcome. I really enjoy meeting my favorite folks here. They do seem busy so come early for a table. Plenty of parking down by the river. read more

Such a cool café. I got a cappuccino and it was seriously one of the best coffee's I've had. I also got a cupcake because the artistry was so cool (clown cupcake, fondant nose, sugar pearl eyes, "blood"), but I was thrown for a loop when I tasted it and it was the best cupcake I've ever had. Usually, desserts pick a lane -- pretty, or good tasting. This one was 10/10 in both lanes. The cupcake was also definitely fresh, like probably made that day, which was again surprising because most cafés don't do that. I don't usually write reviews, but as an avid café goer, I had to write one for this place. 5 stars on the interior decor, taste, and service (they'll even bring your coffee to your table!). read more

Love love love this place!!! It's very Edgar Allen Poe. Dark and gothic without being super creepy. According to my granddaughter the cake pops taste as good as they look. Coffee is great! Everyone that works there is super nice and if you have any questions they can help you get the exact type of drink you are looking for. Only complaint I have is I wish they were open more hours!! Stopped in during a recent visit to Monroe. What a fantastic addition to the downtown area. This place was sorely needed. It's so nice to have a place to hang out and socialize at night that isn't a bar. The coffee is really great too. We had a cinnamon honey latte and Sleepy Hollow moon milk. Both were fantastic. The latte was probably some of the best coffee I've had anywhere in a while. The interior is very eclectic and the staff is super friendly.
