So even though the actual ice cream quality is better here, I'm rating this place a 4 and Mr. Freeze a 5. If I could only have one of them in Toledo it would be Mr. Freeze for sure. But if I had to pick one of them to supply all the ice cream I could eat for the next year, it would definitely be Handel's. Maybe 4 stars for ice cream of this style (soft serve), and it doesn't really compare to ice cream like Jeni's or Handel's, it's a different category. The lines can be long, and they're cash only. But once you get to the front of the line, the service is always friendly. But the art is amazing. All the hand-drawn pictures to go with the sundaes and the creative sundae names and toppings/mix-ins. Some of the sundaes are the same ones they served 30 years ago, others are new. The portions are huge. If I recall correctly, for a large cone they take it all the way down to the bottom of the machine (although I've never ordered one myself!) The cake sundaes are quart size. I usually go with a small or junior sundae and it's plenty. It's my go-to stop on the way home from Centennial Quarry in the summer, and one of the places that I take friends from out of town to give them a taste of Toledo culture.
