Chocolate Peanut Butter Croissants
Jeffrey R.

Wow. A new hidden gem here in Toledo. Every dessert looks delicious. We tried the peanut butter croissant and one other. So flaky and full of flavor. They are innovative and huge. It's too bad there isn't a spot to sample the goodies there. I had to wait til I got home to find out how good they were. I nice coffee goes well with the flaky deliciousness. Worth the price. Check them out!

Mia's dessert bar was adequate but the prices are ridiculous. $7.25 for a croissant, and coming from someone who lived in NYC these are legit prices we would be charged in Manhattan. Also, the worker was not helpful at all -- my cream croissant was hard, cold and stale and I was given no instruction to let it come up to room temp before eating. They need to change the power of the fridge because this was practically frozen in the center. Also, I asked questions about the products such as ingredients and flavors, because duh I'm paying $7.25, and he didn't seem eager to help or explain. Also, the croissant just tasted stale. It suspiciously seemed like they were a day old, and I wouldn't be surprised cause the store didn't have a baking kitchen attached -- it's just a small store front which means they were transported from someone's house probably. The pastries were good and flavorful, but in terms of freshness and price I wouldn't be returning.

I have been searching for a good chocolate croissant. Found this place by accident. Walked in and had the best customer service! The croissant was the best thing I've ever eaten. My husband is now addicted to this place after 1 stop. We also smelled the savory pinwheel things and they were just as incredible! Wish I had taken a picture of our croissants before we destroyed them. True pastries!

This place is pretty amazing for the Toledo area. The pastries are excellent. The interior is small and cozy and the service is friendly.

What an absolute neighborhood gem!…read more How fortunate am I to live in one of the cutest neighborhoods in Toledo? When I consider all the great locally owned options in this neighborhood, I would say pretty dang fortunate! The dollop shop does not disappoint. It's like walking into a hug. The owner has the warmest kindest soul. She radiates sweetness. How appropriate for a place that serves sugary bliss. I don't know how I haven't been in here sooner, but I'm probably going to need to add an extra night to my exercise routine... because I will be coming back. They have a great variety for such a tiny shop. They feature savory items, not just your usual cookies and cake cakes. Now let's talk about their sweets. Who has a beautiful orange olive oil cake just sitting ready to be devoured? I came in this morning on a last-minute run to grab a cupcake or something for my husband's birthday. Nothing like last minute, I spotted the most gorgeously decorated perfect petite orange olive oil cake. We will be going out of town and staying somewhere that doesn't have breakfast, so I was able to pick up a savory "everything danish" and a ham and cheese croissant. Everything looks beautiful. The service is unmatched. Finding out they also serve to go, cocktails... Unreal! I just went down a rabbit hole exploring everything they offer. Don't sleep on this sweet little shop

Five stars. Not for the sugar, not for the frosting--though those are excellent--but for the humans…read morebehind it. I asked for something oddly specific, a custom order, the kind of thing that usually makes bakers sigh. Instead? Perfect execution. Directions included. Actual instructions, like you were being handed a small machine built of butter and sugar. No other local baker has matched this level of service. It felt human. It felt rare. If you need a sweet thing for a special occasion, this is the place. Highly, extremely, unbelievably recommended.

Woody's Just Chicken - Super good mashed potatoes with a well peppered gravy!

Woody's Just Chicken

Another obscure spot for the win! Driving downtown I frequently pass this delightful little chicken…read moreshack. Several times I've slowed down, considered pulling in and then just kept driving to Old Orchard. Well today I (we) stopped. The owners were really nice. They warned us there would be a 15 minute wait... fine by us. I'd rather wait for FRESH food than eat food from under a heat lamp any day! Woody's sits at the end of a strip mall in an admittedly not great area of town, but it's good to step outside of your neighborhood (and comfort zone). The food is cheap! For 6.50 we got a side of mashed potatoes and gravy, 3 pieces of dark meat, a drink, and a roll. The potatoes were perfectly whipped into a delicious buttery frenzy and they were smothered with a fantastic peppery gravy. There was a lot of love in the gravy. That gravy alone makes it worth the wait. And then there's the chicken. Frickin' yum! It's crunchy and crispy and well seasoned on the outside with perfectly cooked meat on the inside. When I eat fried chicken I want to hear that "crunch" when I bite into it... and if it doesn't require a napkin to wipe the juices off your face and fingers after that first bite then it's not for me. This is the best comfort food you've never eaten! It's family owned and local. I recommend calling ahead and picking it up at their drive thru window. Bonus... you can get cash for gold right next door while you wait.
