What a wonderful coffee shop! Glad to see some places still have great, artisan coffee, as well as a good vibe! First off, I chatted with the very knowledgeable barista about the beans they use, and if I lived closer, I'd definitely make it my mission to go through and try each kind. Got a pour over which was delicious and full flavored. They also offer all kind of coffee and espresso drinks, so something for everyone. They also have baked goods that looked delicious but I certainly didn't need it haha. And to the side are all the beans. Most had roast dates within a week, so all super fresh. Love the vibes inside. Very earthy and natural, yet benches were comfortable and I can see getting some work done here. Love this place! I wish I lived closer I'd totally become a regular. read more

Flatlands coffee is a great coffee shop! They have very friendly staff (also very knowledgable) and serve great coffee! I've tried the cortado and a warm vanilla latte and I loved them both! It's a nice place to get work done and study, they have free wifi and outlets at every table. The seating isn't very comfortable, but it doesn't bother me. Parking is street parking, but I've never had an issue finding somewhere close to park. I'll definity be back next time I'm in Bowling Green. read more

Have been in a couple times and got a few bags of beans to take home. Great quality coffee, and snacks. Definitely a cut above the other shops in town, which feel a bit more down home or old school in comparison. Not a slight against the other spots, just trying to convey the different feel. Flatlands has a modern, clean ambience. Multiple people were working in their laptops or reading the times I've been, so it'd probably be a great place to do that. I wish they sold bigger bags of beans, but I didn't ask about it while there, so I probably will next time. The bags they sell off the shelf are a little small if you consume mass amounts of coffee daily like me. Service was great, and a bunch of my wife's favorite music was playing while we were there, so she was happy about that. Not really much else to say, since they were voted best roaster in Ohio. My favorite coffee shop in town! As soon as I walked into the moment I walked out the staff were super friendly and helpful. The owner himself Ben took care of me and patiently answered all of my questions with enthusiasm. It was a cold windy day so I had grabbed a warm chai latte and a slice of Pumpkin bread which was one of many gluten-free options. Both items were some of the best I had ever had so there is no question about their quality or taste. A bit pricier than Dunkin' Donuts or Tim Hortons but 100 times better. The chai was spiced perfectly and the pumpkin bread was to die for. I really enjoyed the sleek coffee shop vibe, it was trendy but also minimalist. The best way I can put it is that it's what Starbucks tries to be but just doesn't achieve. The 30 x 30" tables are the perfect size to place your tablet or laptop alongside a coffee or snack. Also there are more comfortable seating options in the back of the shop as well as outlets easily accessible. It really looked as if Ben and the rest of the team had thought of everything! I stayed for a couple of hours to get some work done and they would check up on me and ask if I needed anything. Music was great though it is a little loud in the front of the shop so if you're looking for a quieter area you might want to go to the back. Also an excellent selection of gluten free or vegan scones and pastries that taste excellent and have a good crumb. Reasonably priced for the best coffee/teas I've tasted. I started this review several years ago but I guess I'll post it anyway. My friends and I walked in here when they were about to close. I worked at a store once and I know how frustrating that can be. I don't do that normally I promise. The little town of maumee was a having a chocolate fest. The baristas were very excited to show us their single origin chocolate cupcakes with organic raspberry sauce. They gave us some to try for free. There were good. They didn't notice right away when I wanted to order a drink and they felt so bad that they gave it to me for free and made it a large instead of a small. Later as we walked out the door an elderly man stopped us and gave us a blessing. Seriously, I'm not joking. It was an unbelievable experience altogether and just lovely. Went there this morning since they were on coffee quest and I was in Perrysburg for the stamp. Wish they were closer, great coffee shop. The young man that took my order was the friendliest barista I've ever encountered. Lots of baked goods and I love scones and they had a nice variety of them and they are very good. I ordered a sugar free vanilla latee, and this is the only coffee shop I've been to that has homemade sugar free syrups. Since my last visit to BG, Flatlands has gotten even better -- they now have oat milk in addition to almond and regular, an assortment of yummy baked goods, and new items on the menu like vanilla, matcha, and chai lattes! They also have gluten-free baked goods and keep them on a separate platter (the pumpkin bread is my favorite). One thing that hasn't changed is the experience you get as a customer. Literally every person that I've interacted with has been so friendly in the most genuine way. If I lived locally, I'd be at Flatlands every day because the coffee is what originally got me hooked, but it's people like Allison and the customer experience that has kept me coming back. I was waiting for Flatlands Coffee to open while I lived in Bowling Green, but I left before it opened. I was so glad to see that this place had opened when I was in town for a friend's wedding. The inside of the cafe was modern and sleek. It was great to see such a diverse group of people enjoying this place (students, families with their kids, etc.). I tried their nitro coffee and I loved that they had this on tap! I would definitely order this again the next time I'm in the area. The Flatlands Coffee shop has a great vide; kinda hipster with a side of college town. The gentleman was very friendly, knowledge, and took the time to help me select the right coffee. They specialize in poor overs and lattes or expresso coffees. The process was wonderful to watch and the coffee was outstanding . They use purified water and brew/serve the coffee at the proper temperature. My family and I were in town over the weekend for the tractor pulls. On Saturday afternoon, we decided to get out of the heat and get some coffee. The place was busy and short handed. The young man who took our orders was very pleasant and answered all of our questions. He also was our barista. My daughter and I each ordered iced pour overs. They were amazing! While coffee shops are commonplace in college towns, most college towns are not as lucky as Bowling Green, Ohio is. Flatlands is a coffee shop so good that it could hold its own in high-end coffee Meccas like Seattle, San Francisco, and both Portlands. The vibe of the shop is pretty standard coffee shop fare: sparse, white, modern, the odd potted plant, exposed light bulbs, coffee paraphernalia and merchandise, local art for sale, and vinyl streaming through the speakers. The seating is extremely comfortable and inviting, however, so that is a plus that many coffee shops actually struggle with. Their baristas are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, but it is their skill and bean curation that really sets them apart. I have had coffee in all the great shops of all the great coffee cities, and the pour-over cups I have gotten at Flatlands are as full-flavored, delicate, complex, and just plain brilliant as all but Slate in Seattle, and even then, Flatlands is neck-and-neck. They know their roasters and their farms and select only the best beans, and their brewing technique is second to none, as the results speak for themselves. While I usually judge a coffee shop based on its drip or ideally its pour-overs (which, as I said, are beyond excellent here), their espresso drinks are varied and curated as well, and they let the coffee shine rather than over-adulterating it with cream or sugar. Besides more inventive decor to set the space apart visually, there is nothing this place can do to improve, and that is a very minor personal nitpick. This is coffee nirvana in a place no one would ever expect. BGSU students should count their blessings, for the touch of the Coffee God is present in all this shop does. read more

I was immediately impressed by Flatlands Coffee. I was passing through on a Saturday morning (surprisingly empty for a college town!) and the barista gave us a friendly hello. We had a hard time finding it since the sign out front is on the ground. But Flatlands has a wonderful atmosphere and I could spend hours in here drawing or grinding out work if I lived closer. They didnt have quite as many drink options, but they had different beverages than coffee too, which is nice. I think they are a bit pricier than most places ($5 for a 12 oz latte). But I think the price is worth the luxurious space, exquisite decorating, and soft music playing on the record player. Stop by if you have the time! read more
