Food was great - had the chicken pesto panini. Chicken was tender and real white meat. Sandwich was the right amount of cheese, meat, pesto and veggies; and a decent size. Had a lemon poppyseed muffin with tea. Muffin was large, tender and tasty. Tea was good, bag with a large amount of tea leaves - not Lipton. Husband had a mocha coffee - said it was good but a little too sugary for his taste. The prices were budget friendly. Service was prompt and helpful - we were there after the lunch rush so not busy at the time. Cutely decorated for the holiday - not over the top. Restroom shared with next business was a good size. The floor needed a good vacuuming and the walls were smudged but the sink was clean and there was plenty of paper (towels and toilet). read more

They are still clueless about what a cafe is all about. Coffee in a ceramic mug? Not happening. Plastic crappy to-go cup for your coffee. Order a pastry and expect it on a ceramic plate or ... a paper plate at least? Nope. Not happening. They wrap your muffin in Saran Wrap! By the time you get the thing unwrapped, it is crumbled and destroyed. They obviously do not want you sitting down in their establishment. They want you to grab your plastic incased crap and be gone! read more

Coffee is average. The numerous times we've been in there we've never had good service. The people behind the counter never smile, they seem bothered by having to serve the customers. I've heard them complaining multiple times about various aspects of their jobs. (And it was never busy when we were there). Thank goodness a better coffee shop opened across the street. Only upside is the food is pretty good, but that isn't enough to make us want to go back. read more

I recently had my bridal shower at Down Thyme Cafe and it was perfect in every way. Terri Cassel was amazing to work with. She responds quickly to every email and flexible to meet in person. She helped me plan the most beautiful and wonderful bridal shower I could've asked for. The food was served hot and fresh. The mimosa and coffee bar was definitely a crowd favorite. Anyone looking to have a bridal shower should definitely consider Down Thyme. All of the servers were so kind and cleared tables and plates for my guests. This is the perfect coffee shop for me. It's not foofy Bohemian like I expetience at a lot of local coffee shops (especially on the coasts). Yet, it offers a relaxed atmosphere with an at-home feeling cum small cafe decor. The tables are well spaced so that you don't have to weave your way through cramped quarters. The service is very friendly and efficient and the prices are pretty reasonable from my survey of the menu. I'm sure most people come in for the coffee and pastries. The sweet treats did look quite good and I have to say that my Americano was also very good. Their highlight seems to be their Saturday morning "colossal" cinnamon rolls (only offered Saturday after 9 AM if I understood correctly) that need to be pre-ordered if you want to be guaranteed to get your fill. However, we were there for lunch and that aspect of their offerings should not be overlooked. My wife had a Caprese Quiche which she enjoyed very much. It had pesto, mozzarella and tomatoes and was low carb (without crust). This was almost conceived for her it seemed because she loves anything that has the "caprese" combo. I had a Spicy Turkey Panini, which combined turkey, bacon, provolone, tomato and sriracha. It was accompanied by chips and a pickle spear making it a perfect lunch. Their facilities were comfortable and made a great place to sit and chill while my wife walked across the street to shop for a while. This was my first time in Fremont in quite a long time. I had visited the Hayes House about 20 or 25 years ago and have not been back to Fremont proper since then. This place will be on our radar and may induce us to veer into town center next time we are close. read more

A perfect croissant sandwich on a busy Saturday morning made my day and fueled my weekend.

Nice sandwich, but the staff was a bit unwelcoming. One girl in the glasses was super nice though.

I ordered the egg Croissant Sandwich this morning and it took less than 10 minutes. Came with bacon, egg, and cheese. The place is very clean and it made me want to sit down and eat even though I had a pick-up order. Nice big windows in the front for a good street view and the people behind the counter were pleasant. read more

Great neighborhood spot located on the main drag through Fremont. They had a $5 special running for a latte and homemade cookie the day I visited, which was a steal of a deal! The cookies were excellent (soft and chewy) and the latte was really well made. They have some other cafe bites (sandwiches, wraps, quiche) if you're looking for something more substantial. Lots of seating available (including hard and soft seating) if you're looking to meet up with folks and enjoy some conversation. read more

Just had a peppermint mocha latte and toffee biscotti. Very relaxing to just sit and enjoy. I used to stop in whenever I was in town when it was Davinci's. Glad to see the atmosphere continue. read more

My wife and I decided to try Down Thyme Cafe for dinner. I have been wanting to try it for some time now. I ordered the NY strip steak. I was very disappointed in the cut of steak that I received. I could not eat about 1/3rd of the steak because it was all fat and gristle. I realize that sometimes you don't get a good cut of meat, but this was really bad. I told the waitress/bar manager about the steak and she said sorry and told me that she would tell the chef. She didn't offer any discount or anything in place of the steak. Not even a free dessert. The NY strip was $25.00 which is pricey to begin with. My wife had the fish special that was really good, but was also pricey at $22.00. I guess I won't be back. I had such high hopes for this restaurant. read more

I loved DaVinci's so I'm trying to give the replacement a chance however the service is absolutely awful here. Ive been in for my usual coffee and sweet treat or a panini for lunch about a dozen times and only twice has my order been correct on their first try. Most of my visits end in frustration after not receiving my correct order or waiting an insanely long amount of time for a simple drink. I'm done giving chances and my money to this place. read more

I had dinner there recently with some friends and the service was average but the food was stellar. They made one of the best manhattan's I have ever had. The chef was great, the wine selection was good and the menu was a small but in a good way as they intentionally seek out local vendors. I highly recommend it. read more

My Husband and I ate here for the first time for my birthday. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Love the creaky wood floors! Our meals were very good. The reason we chose Down Thyme was because they have beef carpaccio on the menu. It was good. I also had the filet mignon cooked perfectly and very flavorful. My husband had the pork chops. He said they were good also. Although I have never seen pork chops so small, but they made up for that in flavor. We ended with german chocolate cake. Moist and not overly sweet. I asked for a Coconut Passion from the special board and was told she did not know what was in it. So I then asked about the London Fog and again was told it was new so she did not know what went in that one either. I love to try new things and asked for suggestions and got none. Ok, what about a vanilla hazelnut Coffee was decent, only lukewarm. I wanted a chocolate chip scone as that was written on the glass, but all they had was blueberry and that seemed day old and dry. Thankfully I had the coffee wash it down. It was disappointing and would likely not make a special trip again to go there. read more

Service was slow, especially during the work week...the soup was bland and cold, the sandwich was missing components that were listed on their menu...if you are going to charge that much for food, it better be fantastic. I just finished my amazing lunch from Down Thyme Cafe today. Wow! The food was so fresh, so well made, and flavorful. I called in my order to go and Robert waited on me via telephone. Robert's service was well above average especially over the phone. Robert was very pleasant and knowledgeable about their menu with tasteful suggestions. I enjoyed the Chick-wich Panini with turkey, artichoke, onion, tomato, provolone, my side was a fresh apple that popped when I bit into it. 6/23/15 8:15am Absolutely the worst breakfast I've had in 50yrs! Turkey quiche so salty you couldn't eat it and cold in the middle. The fresh fruit? Brown bananas, old brown apples and pears, I tried to peel off the produce sticker and the flesh of the pear came off with it, not to mention the quarter sized soft brown spot! The bacon egg and cheese croissant, so tough you couldn't cut it with a fork and the sandwich is precooked, assembled and microwaved. Cinnamon roll was just dried out and bad. The coffee was very very strong. The best thing here for breakfast this morning was the water! So very disappointed! read more

What a GREAT addition to the area. We had a delicious dinner there this evening with friends. The atmosphere is refined and chic. The wait staff was very friendly, efficient and attentive. All of us enjoyed our meals. The food arrived at our table hot and scrumptious. I ordered the salmon and my husband ordered the pork chops. Both were excellent! The best chai soy latte I've ever tasted, even bought some of the chai tea to make at home, although I'm not sure how I will make the cute snowman out of the froth. The chef/owner, Keith Mosser, circulated around the dining area afterwards meeting the diners. His lovely wife, Mindy, also circulated and made sure everyone had everything they needed. I went there for dinner with my wife and it was the worst meal I've ever had anywhere. The alcohol selection is great and the people were nice but the food was horrible. Our steaks came out raw when ordered medium which when my wife couldn't eat hers they just burnt it and gave it back. When you get into the $100 a meal range for drinks, appetizer and meal, I expect a level of care to do things right and that didn't exist in the slightest. The food had no flavor. The sides were also pretty poor. I would really like to see this place succeed as there isn't many restaurants trying to do what it does in town for dinner. However no one should waste money eating dinner there. read more
