Hands down - 100% the BEST sushi I've ever had in Michigan! I was skeptical. I'm a sushi snob. Here's the real deal. The yellowtail can go toe-to-toe with any Vegas yellowtail. Same for the eel sashimi. That was excellent. I loved the salmon nigiri (they just call it salmon sushi). The superstar was the teriyaki tofu, which tasted a whole lot like agedashi tofu. I had two servings. There was a really good selection and nothing tasted old or fishy. More importantly the fish was actually raw! Every bit of sushi I've had up until now in Michigan has been lox (weird), imitation crab, or cooked. Now, don't get me wrong. There was still weird, but it was manageable weird, so let's talk about it. Eel roll was mostly strips of cucumber- a large, large portion of cucumber. So much cucumber. I did taste a bit of eel, but let's be honest. That was a cucumber roll. The spicy tuna was pale. That was different. I'm not used to that, and I got a little scared. It was... Ok. It had crunchies in it. The sashimi was aggressive. You get a chunk of fish. There you go. Enjoy your chunk. This is how we do it in Michigan. This restaurant is in the spot where the Old Country Buffet was. The decor has completely changed and it's not really bougie or elegant, but it is pretty. It's also very clean. It is also HUGE. That means you need to come here and take a seat. This really is exceptional food, and we want them to stay open. So go there. Right now. The dinner price is lunch price in Las Vegas. There are even options for non-sushi lovers. The All You Can Eat dinner menu is a little pricey at $27.99 per person, but totally worth it for such excellent food and superior service. I love this place! Small plates but all you can eat. There's a menu, you order from it and you can order something different every time and they make it to order. It's not buffet style so it's always fresh. The sushi was fresh and delicious with lots of choices. Katsu was really crunchy. The chicken fried rice was amazing it had tons of flavor and small diced up vegetables that still had crunch. The shumai, spiced kimchi, takoyaki all delicious. I really went overboard on the pea pods from the salad bar. They were nice and salty. The waitress is super friendly and came back often. Everything came out hot. The prices were fair was about $20 a person and we left completely stuffed. There is a ridiculous amount of seating the building is an Old country buffet building from back in the day so there's lots of seating. It was really clean and there's several places for good photo opportunities if you're still inclined. The mall is right next door even though it's nearly empty it's a good place to walk afterwards and be inside away from the elements. It is located within a mall so there's plenty of parking. And there's a decent sized well stocked Goodwill nearly next door. Home depot, a Ross for less, Big lots store, several other dining options, and a Walmart all within 1 mile. I-69 is also right around the corner. I definitely plan to be back. read more

We decided to try Royal Sushi for takeout. Mixed reviews. I ordered the Sushi Deluxe and was instead given the Sushi Sashimi Combo. Good thing I like sashimi, because I wasn't going to drive back! I do have to say the sashimi was fresh and tasty. It just wasn't what I wanted. The Tuna Tataki, contrary to the menu description, did not have sesame seeds on it, and the ponzu sauce really didn't go with it. Not what we expected. The Miso Soup separates and settles thickly on the bottom of the container, not like any miso soup I have ever seen. The Seaweed Salad, Avocado Salad and Steamed Rice, ehhh, had better, which is quite something to say about steamed rice!! Overall, it was a slightly over expensive (for the quality) disappointing experience. Nonetheless, I do have to praise them for their sashimi and their California roll. 3/5 stars seems appropriate. read more

The sushi was all solid! This was my first time dining there and I had the tuna roll, spicy tuna roll, tuna avocado roll, shrimp tempura roll, and the "Bubba gump" roll. As someone who had eaten at a number of Japanese restaurants, I definitely have to give this one a recommendation. I've been twice for dinner and it's definitely been worth it. 28$ per person for all you can eat might seem steep at first, but the quality and variety are definitely worth it. You can save the extra 8$ and go for lunch instead, just be aware the menu at that time is not as extensive. A number of the sushi rolls aren't available during lunch and neither is sashimi, if that's your thing (which for me it is). There are a couple of other things to be aware of. While they do have cooked & hibachi style Japanese meals as well, just keep in mind that you get only what you order, no sides or anything else come with it. HOWEVER, there are side type dishes and appetizers on the menu as well, and since it is ALL YOU CAN EAT, you can just order those too. And the portions may seem small compared to what you get at a traditional Japanese restaurant, but you can always order additonal portions. Keep in mind that beverages are a separate charge. Also, I just want to note that this is NOT a buffet. A server takes your order and brings the food to the table. And you can keep your menus and can continue to place orders for as long as you're there. The only things you have to get up for are the soups, some fruits, a seaweed salad, and soft serve ice cream. And the quality of the sushi and sashimi is on par with many other traditinal Japanese restaurants I've been too, and in some cases, even better. I first went on a Sunday and the sashimi was delicious and definitely worth the price. I then went on a Friday, and the fish was to my surprise even better. I assume they had just received a fresh shipment. So good! If there's one, "down side" I'd say would be the lack of dessert variety. But I've been to a number of all you can eat establishments, alsonwith limited desserts, so that didn't really detract from my experience. So if you like Japanese food, and/or enjoy sushi/sashimi, definitely give this place a try. They just opened not that long ago and Im hoping they stick around for awhile. read more
