This is why people don't like me to review. I'm very honest when I come into a business. I saw two things that I will never do again. It's the glass over the soup. It is the condensation that's on the glass. The soup was very good. The lady gave me the right container. Yes, the temperature was excellent. I do not like Styrofoam. And I never will Nope! when condensation drips onto my arms from a glass shield I don't like it. I was able to see. It appears very dark. But I was able to see. Driving in the back of the parking lot. That's when I discovered that maybe my vehicle needed more maintenance. That's how bumpy the parking lot is. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. Habachi Buffet is a staple in the buffet scene in Flint/ Genesee County. I love how diverse and vast their offerings are, and they frequently innovate new stuff. The KBBQ ribs/ steak is new and so on par with what I was craving the other day. There's tons and tons of seating, and they can accommodate parties. They've got a sushi bar, a hibachi preparation area, soups, and desserts. They've got Chinese-American staples like General Tso's, black pepper chicken, and fried noodles and rice. The lighting is dim, but I don't find that to be a bad thing. You will eat lots and eat good here. Stopped in with friends for a late afternoon lunch about 3:00. We were seated right away and our waitress took our drink order. The place has an Asian vibe with soft music playing in the background. The selection on the buffet was huge plus they offer the Hibachi area where they will grill up your own concoction of meats veggies and seasonings. The Sushi area had a wide selection of actual sushi along with veggie and "non fish" selections. They also had a peel and eat shrimp area by the sushi. All of the food I tried was very tasty and I was impressed that for mid afternoon, the food was fresh and regularly refilled. We were able to take advantage of the "Lunch Special" pricing that was good until 4:00 along with the senior discount which made for a very reasonably priced lunch.We will definitely be returning. read more

I really like this place especially for the variety. There is a sushi bar a really great dessert bar and you can get hibachi made fresh. Everything is constantly being turned over and served hot and your plates are constantly cleared. There's never dirty plates on the table. So the service is great the ambiance is great there's plenty of seating and plenty of parking. It's roughly $15 a person. Plus another almost three bucks for a drink but it is all you can eat and sometimes you can find coupons. The sushi bar alone is great you get about 20 different options. They make an in-house yum yum sauce which is decent. I like this place because it serves whatever mood I'm in they even have hot and sour soup, egg drop soup wonton soup, Americanized food like prime rib and salmon. Cheese sticks, chicken wings, onion rings, pineapple chicken, fried rice, general tso's chicken, The hibachi Bar has chicken steak crab shrimp plus vegetables lo mein noodles rice and rice noodles. I have visited Habachi Buffet in Flint multiple times over the years, and generally, always have a good experience! The restaurant has truly elevated the concept of a buffet with its unique and healthy menu offerings. Keep in mind, this is not designer sushi. It is buffet. But, it is one of the better buffets I have had sushi at. The variety of dishes was impressive--there was something for everyone. The sushi was fresh, the hibachi station was fun to watch, and the ingredients across the board seemed high-quality. For the most part, the items are the same weekly, with the exception of some items like frog legs. I have gone when they have them, and when the do not. The atmosphere was clean and inviting, and the staff were friendly and somewhat attentive. They made sure our table was cleared of used plates promptly and were happy to answer any questions about the menu. One thing that does happen often, we always ask for bottle water, but I think just hear "water" and bring a glass of ice water. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the water, the times when things were very empty and not being refilled, some items sat too long and were gel and gross, flavor is all over the board from trip to trip. But overall, the food was good, the prices were reasonable, and the experience was enjoyable despite the hit or miss some weeks. Our good meals greatly outweigh the bad. We will for sure go back. Everyone has bad days and this place is no different. If you're in Flint and looking for a buffet that goes above and beyond, Habachi Buffet is worth a visit. read more

We stopped off here for lunch after one pm. The place is clean and I liked the lighting and ambience. The buffet has a large sushi and salad section which takes up most the space. The rest of the food doesn't take up much area and I wish there were more of these choices. The food was pretty good but they were slow at refilling the buffet. My favorite was the pineapple chicken. I wish the pepper steak had been a little more flavorful, it was a little bland tasting. The egg drop soup was really good but not very hot. I wish there were more dessert choices but what I had was good. The fortune cookie was bland and stale. The wait staff was a little lazy and seemed to wander around aimlessly quite a bit. My brother had been telling me about these Las Vegas rolls that he had gotten from here, so when I came in town, I wanted to try them out. I got an order of them and an order of California rolls. While we waited on our food, we sat in the parking lot and checked back when they stated our order would be done (15 minutes). I cant remember what was in that building before, but it sits on the corner of Linden and not sure of the cross street (it has been so long since I've lived here, I dont remember). But nice set up. You must wear a mask and they take your temperature when you will dine in. They also require you to wear gloves at the buffet, which this is the first time I have seen that and I think this should have been done years ago. Anyway, our food is ready and my brother grabs it. Then my daughter wants eggrolls and Chinese donuts, so she paid for those and we left. Those Las Vegas rolls were delicious. I loved them. I know we would have something similar here, it would just fall under another name. But the next trip home, I will surely be going back again. read more

When this place first opened it was good, but every time I visit I'm more and more disappointed- and this last attempt will be my last. I kept going back every couple of years to see if it had improved and it hasn't. Everything is greasy, the fried rice was inedible. I even waited for a fresh pan to come out and it tasted very chemical like. Under seasoned, overly greasy, dirty, gross. Wish Flint had better Chinese food options. The only good place anymore is Empire Wok out in Burton- but after this last visit to Hibachi, a drive to Burton is more appealing. Also- they have a very discriminatory message on their prices sign- "Children over 5FT Tall pay adult prices" Uhm, excuse me? That's bizarre and very very rude. read more

From the fresh sushi, the salad and fresh fruit bar, the hibachi grill is a little wanting, but definitely enough for me, the freshly prepared food options. I was pleasantly surprised and I ate everything I put on my plate! Usually I take half home. I put together a plate for the grill which consisted of fresh shrimp, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, that pseudo lewis kemp fish, bean sprouts, baby corn, hot oil, chopped garlic and teryaki sauce. I've been here for a couple of times and most of the services weren't great. If I could rate this a zero, I would do it. I'm a Chinese person, and obviously those people who work and own that restaurant are also Chinese. I don't know if they knew that I understand Fuzho Dialect, but I do. One of them was talking to another waitress and she called me fat behind my back. The other waitress started snickering and agreeing with her. After a while, I see them staring at me whilst I was eating my food. Wow, rude waitresses and sucky service. I only took a plate of Crawfish, is it really a big deal? We came in about 15 minutes before dinner time and they already switched some of their foods to Dinner Only, which narrowed our food selection to a few choices. I notice that the Owner of this restaurant and the workers there keep staring at us, which made us uncomfortable and also awkward. I found a hair in the big tub of Vanilla Ice Cream, which was disgusting. They seriously need to check the ice cream once in a while. The Mint Chocolate Chip Ice cream was empty, and they didn't refill it. The entire time I was there, the sushi plates were pretty much empty. This was a big disapointment since I love sushi. Been here twice now. Both times have been great. Sushi is fresh, service is good and food is fresh. The 1st time was Christmas Day 2022. We got there before noon, place had a handful of tables filled. When we left, they were getting busy. Food stations are clean, and items are mostly labeled. This is my favorite buffet in the area. More times than not everything has been hot and service is fast. It's important though, to thoroughly check the silverware, bowls, and plates for leftover food because I have caught that once or twice and am usually scraping off crud before I use it. Also, I prefer coke. Today I asked for that, they carry Pepsi. So I got something else. But right from my seat I notice later they sell bottles of coke for $2 out of the cooler... would have been nice if the waitress would have mentioned that. Wanted to share my experience here, as I felt tho the place was nice and the spread attractive, I felt it was subpar even for this style of restaurant. I arrived at 3:20pm, so just before dinner transition, which was happening around me as I picked things. Some things are marked dinner only, and share the same tables as lunch items. Could potentially be confusing. Even for a buffet place, it takes shortcuts everywhere. In the sushi, they use the mini micro shrimp and expect you not to notice that they did not cut up real shrimp. The taste of the sushi rice was extremely gummy, take that for what you will. The hot and sour soup had zero vinegar making it only hot, the potstickers were mushy and tasteless, the crab and cheese (their version of crab rangoons) were nothing but sugary purée - no crab detected, the general tso's was pineapple chicken -- and it was just lots of small things added up. The rest of the food I had was standard Chinese buffet. On the plus side, they did have dim sum that actually tasted great. They also had miso soup on the buffet which was unusual and welcome. The final issue is it is fairly dimly lit, and a singular high wattage lamp is directly over my table, and the interior has food stains and looks like it has not been cleaned in a while. The men's room was gas station horror movie with the single fluorescent flickering light - it looked run down compared to the nice interior - like they remodeled the main floor but didn't follow through to the restrooms. Like I said, shortcuts. I'm an out of towner, so I have no vendetta, just pointing out my experience. The staff was prompt and attentive, no complaints there. This was the only asian place (I tend to avoid buffets when possible) within thirty miles open at the time. Lunch came to 7.41 - so price is more than reasonable. Hope this helps! read more

If this place didn't have 30 cars parked out front we would have turned around. We're so glad we didn't. The buffet was great. There was a lot of people here on a Sunday so the food was in rotation kept fresh and hot. They have an awesome pepper chicken that I'm always looking for when I go to buffets. They have all of the usual contenders of chickens, noodles, rices, fried foods and some extra seafoods like crawfish, few types of shrimps and frog legs. The sushi selection is decent for both raw and cooked and fresh made. My favorite was the Las Vegas roll. They also have a buffet that has prime rib, cooked fish, and sausages. The cold Buffet has a large amount of items for salad and fruits as well as pasta salads. The soup buffet has 4 different soups and wontons. The dessert buffet is popping. At least 6 options for dessert and an ice cream Chest with 6 different flavors with toppings to choose from. Overall it was a great experience! read more

I would give then less stars if I could. Myself and my children all got instantly sick, projectile vomiting, diarrhea, cold sweats. Had to call Teledoc for the illnesses they said it was more then likely norovirus/ or shigellosis. Which can only be fixed w fluids and rest. (We haven't felt this bad in a very long time.) Also parents pay attention to your tickets, my kids were charged as adults because of their heights when the menu clearly states ages and not height. (We 've been here before and they charged based on age not height) The cashier and waiter were rude and upset that I pointed out that my kids were younger then what they thought, and they dropped the price by a $1 when it was a $5 difference plus the difference in tax. They eventually adjusted the price to my kids ages, after raising their voice and saying that they were going to take away the $1 adjustment. Very unprofessional. Used to be good. Sushi was dry, my child's chocolate milk had a fortune from a fortune cookie at the bottom of it. Where did the cookie go? Out of the many different foods we tried, 4 were edible.
