It looks kind of run down old and dingy at first glance and don't get me wrong it is but there was a lot of traffic in and out. I was thinking our meal was going to suck after all it was my daughters turn to pick the Restraunt and I wasn't looking forward to Chinese food but it wasn't my turn to pick the restaurant. I immediately noticed I didn't recognize anything on the menu. It looked very different from the traditional menus of my other Chinese food restaurant experiences. So I started quizzing our waitres.she told me it was only her 3rd day and had no idea but she could get me somebody who could explain the (weird to me) menu items and I said never mind she was so nice I just picked a couple things and they were all great. I have not ventured out for Chinese since moving from Tennessee. Me and my coworkers had someone tell us to come try this place in flint. I was skeptical after the photos and reviews about being closed. But the service and the ambiance of this place is AMAZING! Talk about large sizes... A quart (big size) of fried rice will get you 2-3 meals easily! I underestimated how large their portions are, so expect a lot of leftovers. I got 2 quart sized meals for my dinner and leftovers the next day, and had enough for at least 4 meals. You can't go wrong with their fried rice. It's exactly what I expected, and tasted really good! I recommend that. Took me about 15min from ordering to receiving my order. read more

The food and service was good. I did carry out. The prices are higher than others so for that they get a lower mark. Most places give you lunch deals but they don't. My elderly mom really used to love the Golden Moon restaurant, and recently I was there with her and it was such a terrible experience. The food was ok, not as good as it used to be according to mom. But what was atrocious was how our table was treated as it became clear that closing time was approaching. An employee was repeatedly circling our table with a vacuum, at times hitting our chair legs and even hitting another guest's FOOT with the vacuum as she came too close. The employee literally took a fork full of food out of the hand of my mother while clearing her plate. It made for quite a few laughs as quite possibly the worst service you could expect as a customer at a restaurant, but in the end it was just really bad service and a disappointment to my mom who had been looking forward to the meal. Word of advice to anyone who goes here is to make sure you've cleared your plates and cashed out by 7 pm (closing is at 8:15 per the website), because if it goes much later than 7 pm you will be chased out of the restaurant by a woman wielding a vacuum. read more

My favorite Chinese place! You can tell their soups are made from scratch, the broth is by far superior to any other Chinese place I've ever tried. The spring rolls are amazing. My kids love the sweet and sour chicken, and the portion is huge! I haven't had a bad dish here ever. read more

Hmm. This one's tough to review. I've eaten here several times over the years and it's definitely hit or miss. The food is very traditional, dare I say, "old school" Cantonese. There isn't a whole lot of options for vegetarians, let alone someone allergic to shellfish, as I am. There's probably about a half dozen entrees for vegetarians out of a huge menu. I mean, the menu is big, probably too big to consider anything a real specialty, and it's pretty heavily focused on beef and chicken dishes. As for vegetarian options, there's Vegetarian Egg Foo Young, Vegetarian Stir-Fry, Meatless Chow Mein and Chop Suey, you get the point. The food is clearly made from scratch, but isn't particularly spicy and could use better seasoning. It's a little bland, which is I'm sure up some people's alley, but I like a little more zest to my food. I wish they had a vegetarian sweet & sour dish, but they don't. However, the vegetarian spring rolls are awesome, the hot tea is great and the portions are huge. Get this, the food is still served on those old-school metal platters. I don't think I've seen that anywhere else in awhile. The servers are always friendly and service is both prompt and attentive. As for the ambiance, it is distinctly "old school," that's for sure. I don't think much has changed at Golden Moon in a long time and that includes the menu, prices and decor. As for the stir fry, it's well-made, just lacking in seasoning. Vegetarian chop suey is on the bland side and ranks as probably my least favorite dish of all. The egg foo young is good, but needs a little extra oomph. Fried wonton wrapper chips are good and the egg drop soup is excellent. Still, it's probably the only Chinese food that I've ever had that I needed to actually add salt. read more

This place is quite good - I was amazed to find it here. I think I got sweet and sour chicken the first time - which I have to say was delicious. The service was good and efficient, the atmosphere is quite entertaining - there is a couch from the 70s in the front and the main dining area, as you can sort of tell from the posted picture, is quite elaborately decorated. We went for supper/dinner and it was quiet and relaxing; I'm not sure if it changes much throughout the day. Quite surprised to find it here. Haven't tried other Chinese places in the area, but this one is a sure bet. read more
