My new favorite Chinese restaurant. I can't believe I never stopped in here until this summer. Obviously, I've been missing out on some of the best Chinese food in the area until a few months ago and I have no idea why. Seriously, I've driven past this location a hundred times before and never once noticed what is arguably the best Chinese restaurant in town until recently. Boy, was I missing out! It is located in a relatively nondescript-looking strip mall, which I guess is why I simply never noticed it before. Stupid me for not knowing about this place before now. The egg drop soup was outstanding, possibly the best of its type that I've had anywhere. The texture, flavor and seasoning were all perfect, the way everything should be. Service was fantastic. The girl that waited on us was also the seating hostess. She seemed to know the menu backward and forward, much like the back of her hand. She knew what she was talking about, including potential accommodations to specific dishes, how everything was cooked, etc. She was a real help navigating the menu for both my husband and myself. On the menu, I noticed that they had more than a few vegetarian options from which to choose, so I was pleased. I ordered the stir fried assorted vegetables. It was delicious, well-seasoned with fresh veggies and some of the best rice I've ever had in a Chinese restaurant. My dish was not too salty, nor under seasoned and the rice wasn't super greasy and my vegetables were sauteed perfectly, not swathed in oil or bland. I appreciated the variety of vegetables in my dish, the seasoning and the texture of the rice. They don't serve spring rolls here (bummer), the vegetarian alternative to egg rolls, which contain shrimp, so our waitress charged only for the luncheon size, even though it was well past lunch (it was after 6 p.m.) and the order was the same size as the dinner portion, just sans the egg roll. I appreciated that. It was super cheap, too, but then again, both the lunch and dinner menu options are both really affordable here. I wish they served spring rolls, but that isn't a deal breaker or anything like that. My husband loved his dish. He ordered the Orange Chicken. He kept raving about great the rice and chicken were, how fresh it was and how the seasoning was "on the money." He especially loved the wonton soup. He said it was the best he's had in ages, too. Both of us enjoyed the hot tea as well (so good). The portions of both dishes were healthy-sized and affordably priced, not to mention were the best tasting Chinese food we've had in awhile. It was easily one of the restaurant experiences we've had this summer. Next time, I'll probably try the vegetarian Egg Foo Young. It sounded great and the waitress talked it up, saying it was one of her favorite dishes. For Cantonese, I'd say it's a slam dunk. I'll be coming here from now on. My wife and I were craving Chinese food so I sent her to the local Chinese restaurant, here in Flushing. Upon arrival, she found the restaurant was closed. The sign on the door said that they would be open again in a couple days. Evidently the owners went on a vacation. Well, as a result, we decided to search out a new Chinese restaurant. We did our due diligence and searched on Yelp for something nearby. We came across Gourmet Wok. The ratings were good and it was within a 20 minute drive, so we decided to take the plunge. It was just as indicated in all the reviews, nothing special to look at, but the food was marvelous, the service was outstanding, and the waitress was extremely attentive and friendly. This place was introduced to me when I was working in the area. I no longer work in the area and live about 20 minutes away, yet this is still the first place we call for Chinese. Their early hours are great for us (opening at 10am). The food has always been amazing there. The honey garlic chicken is very good. The Generals chicken has a great flavor. The fried rice selections (included in the price) are top notch. You can choose chicken, shrimp, or beef I believe. You definitely get more than you can eat, even in a lunch combo. The place has recently been updated a little. The building is a lot brighter inside now and not so dark as it used to be, yet its still peaceful and relaxing. The food was delicious! I asked a million questions and the waitress was more than happy to answer all of them. The fried crab cheese is the best I have ever had. The only downside is the exterior of the building needs updating, it was off putting as a new guest to see a peeling name and outdated paints. The inside is pretty cheesy for an oriental restaurant owned by a white lady but the theme was fitting. Everybody that loves this place is selling themselves short. I sampled the sesame chicken, honey garlic chicken, and almond fried chicken. The sesame and honey garlic is the exact same thing with a slightly different sauce. I bet if you order anything with chicken they just give you a cup of whatever sauce you need. What a joke. You can always tell a good restuarant if they use dark meat in the general tso and sesame chicken. Nope ordinary white meat. The almond chicken gravy was, I'm sorry, horrible. By the time I got home it was so watery it could have substituted for soup. I go to every Chinese restaurant I can find. I drove from Fenton when I saw it had 5 stars. We went to several Chinese restaurants looking for a date night. As we looked for our past "spots" they we ran down and dirty. We drove over to Gourmet Wok on Bristol Rd and were surprised to hear there were new owners. Upon walking in we noticed the place was cleaner than we have ever seen it. They began brining out our food starting with the soup that was incredibly fresh, crab cheese had huge chunks of fresh crab and the entrees was also incredibly fresh! This place is the absolute BEST Chinese food in the area by far! The dinner portions are huge and for a decent price as well. I highly recommend the honey garlic chicken dinner. It is always overflowing with chicken and rice. I always have enough for 2 large meals. The service is fast and friendly every time I've been there. The almond boneless chicken is to die for! My boyfriend likes the crispy orange beef. Very good portions. The place doesn't reach out and grab you, it's set back from the road and next to Latina's with their big presence, but don't let that fool you. Some of the best Chinese in the area! We've been going there for well over 20 years, but there's an old saying, 'follow where the truckers eat', and the local yard for semis comes in and gets food daily. I see them everytime I'm there. My favorite thing to order at any Chinese place would be crab rangoon. We decided to try this new place with the great reviews. We are home now with no sauce for the rangoon. Really?? Two orders of Crab rangoon and you give us no sauce? We call to ask why and they tell us, rather RUDELY that, "No Chinese places give sauce with crab rangoon and we do not give sauce." I am not eating it without sauce so I really can't tell you if it is good or not and the nasty lady on the phone has given me enough of a bad taste in my mouth. Good luck with this one. read more

I used to order take out from here regularly!!! However, today I called to order one of my kids' favorites, Veggie Lo Meijer with chicken, and I was very rudely replied to with a "We don't do that." When I expressed that I was more than willing to pay an up charge for the chicken I was again told that they cannot add chicken to the veggie lo mein. So I asked to order chicken lo mein with broccoli, peapods and carrots added. Only to be told "I've already told you 3 times that we don't do that." Very rudely. The owner proceeded to be rude and I ordered my food anyway thinking maybe she was just having a bad day. When I arrived to pick up my food, she told me that she wasn't meaning to be rude but I needed to understand that they don't do that (although I've ordered my lo mein this way multiple times in the past). I expressed as much to her and told her that she needed to tell her staff, because I've never had an issue. She, confusing me with my sister in law, proceeds to yell and tell me that I've been told multiple times and that at her institution the customer is not always right! She also expressed that I could take my business elsewhere because she didn't care to hear my thoughts on how she treated customers or ran her business.
