Hibachi meals, appetizers, sushi

First timers for Ichiban and we decided to place a pick up order. What a pleasant surprise. Pickup experience was good.. friendly staff greeted me and I had to wait 5 or 10 minutes but no worries our food was fresh and delicious when we arrived home to eat our meal. Initial felt we went over the top with cost but it was so worth it. Amazed by the amount of food we pulled out of bag. Steak & Shrimp Hibachi w/ side Fried Rice (w/veggies) Steak & Scallop Hibachi w/side of Noodles Vegetable Tempura Appetizer, Appetizer w/ Fried Shrimp, Crispy Cheese Rangoon, and Spring Rolls (4 each), Spicy Sushi Dynamite

I can't remember ever being disappointed at a hibachi restaurant but that time has come now. My cousin was traveling for business and had a layover in Detroit. I chose Ichiban from my Yelp list because it's not far from the airport. We were told that the wait would be 35 minutes since they were short staffed, but it was only 20 minutes. Our server was great, but the food is where the disappointment started. The server went over the items not on the menu, and we chose the chicken egg rolls. I've had better tasting frozen egg rolls and should have left them on the unseen menu. Sighhh. Ohh!! And they are $10 for three mini egg rolls that they slice in half to give you six pieces. Double sighhh. I had the hibachi chicken with fried rice and a side of noodles for the entrée. It went further downhill when the chef did not cook the noodles long enough. I understand that they are already "cooked", but can I get a nice sauté and some extra heat on them? Well, at least the chicken and the rice were cooked well. But when the chicken was placed on my plate, it created a soupy sauce that pooled at the bottom of the plate. And where are the flavors? Do they have seasonings or even garlic butter? Again, I was annoyed with the food but pleased with the service from our waitress. Thanks to Sierra R for saving the evening from being a total letdown.

We had dinner with family and friends on a Friday night and the place was packed. We had a party of about 10 and we waited for 30 minutes. I was freezing outside. Luckily, the waiting area on the inside by the bar opened up. This place has a sushi bar in one corner and the rest of the restaurant does teppanyaki. Our whole party sat together at one of the teppanyaki tables. There was a chef in the middle of our table that cooked all our food for us and put on a show. I love how he made a volcano with the stacked onion slices and lit it on fire. For our appetizers we got their specialty sushi roll of the day. I forgot the name of it, but it was so good. It had real crab and it was deep fried. Our hibachi combo meals came with clear soup, house salad, veggie medley and fried rice. I got the shrimp and scallops $30. The hubby got the chicken and filet mignon $30. I'm used to having miso soup at these places, but this place had a clear soup, which was ok. The food was good and the proteins were fresh. I loved the scallops. My only complaint was the butter. OMG, huge scoops of butter for everything that he cooked. I could see my arteries clogging. They gave us this dipping sauce that was to die for. I think it was called yum yum sauce. I could put that sauce on everything, lol. We had fun and I would dine here again. Just please use less butter.

I love the ichiban franchise and now that is closer to home I couldn't be more excited. This was an another hibachi place here called o"samurai and was amazing I was sad to see it go but ichiban definitely did a great job. The service was amazing. The ambiance and decor was beautiful. Check out the pictures and the food was delicious. The manager came to check on us and it was amazing definitely worth it if you're in the area

The food as delicious! We had 7 people and we got filet, chicken, shrimp, and steak, and everyone's food was so flavorful and tender! The egg rolls were delicious too! Our hibachi chef was funny and entertaining! The service was top notch! I don't think anyone in our party ever had to even ask for a drink refill! She was on top of it! The ambiance was fun, yet wasn't too loud. We could still carry on a conversation amongst the 7 of us. We will definitely be back!

I'm torn on this restaurant. It could be excellent but it's lacking in a few areas. It's decently…read moredecorated, but very cold in the restaurant... I should also mention that the place was very clean and so was the bathroom. Moving along, our waiter was very nice and kind of attentive however it seemed like he was the only person working in the restaurant. I watched him take orders and make food and that's challenging to do both. So I ordered Shrimp Tempura, Las Vegas Rolls and some sort of Salmon rolls which came to about 32 dollars. The Tempura tasted like nothing but bland batter and the Sushi was subpar, and that's being nice. Although it was aesthetically pleasing... To me it all was flavorless and lacking. I probably won't return it's just not worth it to me.

This location is a sister store to the Dearborn location and they have the same menu. I'm not…read morefamiliar enough with the prices to say if they're the same but they are definitely similar -- rolls were anywhere from $4 - $18, depending on how complicated they were. It's an open space in a strip mall but at least they have booths. It would be nice if there was more separation between the booths or even rugs to help dampen the sound from other tables. Even on a quiet Friday night, we heard everything another table 20' away from us was talking about because there is no separation. Service was friendly but slow for our eat-in endeavor. It seems take-out is the bread and butter of this place, as the employees were constantly greeting people who came in for pickups, packing orders, plugging in orders from online systems, etc. A little more dedicated service/attention to dine-in patrons would have gone a long way. Once we ordered, the food came up quickly. I'm allergic to shellfish and asked for my rolls on their own dish, which was honored. I asked for a side of eel sauce and it came out as requested. The rolls seemed fresh and tasty, no complaints at all about the food. My biggest gripe was ambiance (or lack thereof) and service was just okay. Again, friendly... but just okay. The music that was playing when we got there abruptly stopped at some point and it was just us and the ringing of the front door from people coming to pick up their takeout orders.

I went back up and got a second strawberry and cream sandwich to go, this time with extra strawberries, and let's just say it barely survived the car ride home. To put it in perspective, I drove 40 minutes to try this and I'm trying to figure out any excuse to make it out to Dearborn in the very near future. It's located in a cozy communal food court type of setting with plenty of options. And the service was amazing, I was helped by the lovely Portia who was very kind and did a wonderful job making sure I was happy with my order.

The wait was about 30 minutes, which wasn't surprising because almost everyone there appeared to be ordering the same two flavors. When we finally received them, the portion sizes were actually pretty generous. The banana flavor tasted very similar to banana pudding, rich, creamy, and definitely on the sweeter side. If you like banana pudding desserts, you would probably enjoy this one. My personal favorite was the strawberry and cream. It had a really smooth, creamy texture and a fresh, sweet flavor that wasn't overpowering. Both desserts had a crust that tasted like cinnamon sugar, which added a really nice touch and extra flavor. Overall, they were creamy, flavorful, and definitely worth the wait. If you visit, I would absolutely recommend giving them a try
