I love the idea of this place but it always falls short for me. The patio is so nice in the spring/summer. But the food is wildly mediocre. The one food item on their menu that is (almost) worth the price is their pizza. The pulled pork pizza was a standout. But the last two times I've dined here, they've been out of most of their wines, so that's disappointing. The service is fine but not great. The menu seems wildly overpriced for the quality of food. But the renovated restaurant and the location is beautiful. I'm sure it's a local favorite but it just always seems to miss the mark for me. read more

We decided to try Royal on the Ridge as our brunch place this week. Here's the good and the bad... The best part of this restaurant is the location. It's at the top of Suncrest and, although it doesn't have a city view, it has outdoor seating amongst the trees and lovely large windows and opened sliding glass doors that make you feel like you're in nature. Our server was good and constantly checked to make sure our drinks were refilled. The restaurant was packed for brunch but we sat quickly. The menu has a large variety of options to choose from. As for the bad, our food took an hour to arrive after ordering. We ordered a plate of crepes as a shared appetizer but they arrived at the same time as our food. I would recommend avoiding the crepes if you are a foodie because the cream filling tasted like fake whipped cream and the berries had a fake tasting glaze on them. If the chef needs a recipe for something good he's welcome to reach out to me since mine are a million times better. The rest of our food was good, however two of us ordered the breakfast sandwich and they forgot to put the avocado on them. The other two ordered a traditional breakfast and the eggs came out over hard rather than over easy. All this being said, I still gave them 4 stars because I feel like it's worth going back to try it again when it's a slower day to see if they do a better job. Wonderful Anniversary dinner tonight!! It was our first time here and our server, Penelope took great care of us! My husband had a Berry Mocktail and I had a Raspberry Lemon Martini! Both were refreshing and delicious!! My husband had the margarita pizza and side salad while I had the zucchini soup of the day and buffalo chicken salad. Soup was delicious and creamy, really good! The chicken had a delicious slightly spicy flavor which paired well with the blue cheese dressing!! My only complaint was that the carrots were in kinda large chunks and hard to eat. I added tomatoes and was glad I did because they tasted great with the flavor combination!! For dessert my husband got the raspberry sorbet and I got the banana tiramisu! Penelope decorated the plate especially for our anniversary!! How sweet!! Such a fun and special evening!! read more

This is the second time we've gone here in the last two months. We went for a double date night and it's the coziest place ever. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The drive up is beautiful on both sides. The service is always kind and up beat. And the foods amazing. We've never had anything we didn't like here. read more

The ambience and location are great. Very cozy and a nice place for lunch. But I'm not sure if that'll bring me back. For everything it seems to have going our brunch was a bit of a disappointment. Came in for brunch. Ordered the biscuits and gravy, the food is okay. Biscuits were a little hard. Our meals came out a little warmer than Luke warm and was fairly underwhelming. Decent flavor but think it may have been due to the food cooling. The service left quite a bit to be desired. After taking our order it was a challenge to find our server again. Second order of drinks took quite some time to come out and while other tables were getting coffee refills we somehow missed the boat. Worth a shot, but I'd advise setting your expectations accordingly, the prices seem a little high for the quality of food. read more

I don't even know where to possibly begin here. This was the WORST experience I have ever had at ANY restaurant in 30+ years. I could write novels, but let's keep it as short & simple as I can. You know when you read reviews where people might exaggerate with how long they waited, how long it took to get food? Well this is no joke when I express we sat for 2 hours and 45 minutes to get our food. The restaurant was so unorganized, chaotic and a true nightmare. People were walking out left and right. Every table looked furious and was complaining. I am just sad we didn't follow suit and walk out hours into this hell. The poor employees, (many under age) were having panic attacks, crying, shaking, it was awful. Then you had the sweetest employee named Ellie who just went out of her way to try and help in EVERY way imaginable seeing how chaotic and how long we had been there. Shout out to her. The world needs more employees like her. The food was ice cold, (not even like warm) it was all made wrong from style of eggs, to sides, to meat. All food tasted like freezer burn. It was awful, and of course we weren't going to send it back. The assistant manager said she was going to comp our meals, but instead we received a 20% discount. What a joke. If the owner of this establishment reads this review I would like a full refund. After 3 HOURS AND 45 min we finally were able to get out. Hungry, nauseated (with the couple bites we did eat) frustrated, and completely overwhelmed at what had just transpired. We live in Draper, and would have given this place allot of business. Ordered a medium rare prime rib that came out med well-well done in most spots. Sent it back and they gave me a literal raw steak as show in my picture. I feel like the chef was just being rude at that point unless they have no clue how to cook steak. We had multiple people complain out of 11 that their steaks weren't cooked properly (3 were sent back and the rest said it was just ok). Everyone who ordered steak said it wasn't great mind you we are paying $55 per steak here. After sending back mine for the second time I finally ordered the bolognese which was good. My friend hadn't even received his entree yet though by the time I got my 3rd fixed entree. Sever was good though, seems like the kitchen is no good. Royal on the ridge We got seated pretty quick but unfortunately service from that point forward wasn't the greatest. It took quite a while to be greeted by our waitress, then the wait for drinks and appetizers was an extended amount of time. Legitimately 1 hour before we got the first appetizer. This was the slowest experience we've ever had. That aside.. here is what we ordered: Donuts - these were a good option for the kiddos to break up the extended wait time. However.. there isn't anything special about them. Pineapple mimosas - these tasted super fresh, not overly sweet and a solid option for a mimosa. Wife said easily the best pineapple mimosa she's ever had! Bloody Mary - this was a cool looking drink with some garnishes that made it fun, it had great flavor and overall I would recommend. Club Sandwich with Royal Fries - the fries are.. amazing. The sandwich was pretty average. Fish Tacos with House salad - by far the best part of our meal. 10/10 Kids Pancake - average pancake for kids, which is fine! Kids Mac and Cheese - 2nd best thing we ordered, and the only thing we took home. Overall: I'm a firm believer in that you need to visit a restaurant multiple times in order to make a judgement.. this place has potential and we will be back. In their defense there was a giant table that definitely consumed the small kitchen staff. The Royal fries stole the show! The reason for the low score is because we were sat at 11:30 and didn't get food until after 12:30. Tables who were sat after us ended up getting their food first. read more

The dough felt like it was store-bought and undercooked soggy the worst pizza I ever ever had in my life. Party of 6. 12:30 brunch reservation. After FORTY MINUTES, no waitress. Gently asked hostess to bring us water. She was kind enough to do so. At 2:38pm food finally arrived. They didn't get it right. By the way, we have no silverware or napkins. Ran out of water. If you don't have enough wait staff. DON'T TAKE MORE RESERVATIONS THAN YOU CAN HANDLE! Don't know who is managing this business but it's not customer service oriented. Don't eat here unless you can bring your own food while you wait. If I could give a 0 stars I would! I thought I was prepared for the bad service and the long wait after reading the reviews. Oh boy, were we wrong! Nobody came to bring water or take our orders until one hour after we've sat, another hour for the food to arrive -- 2 hours total to wait for 2 drinks, 5 brunch dishes. When food arrived, they got 3 dishes wrong! All told 3 hours spent on this restaurant where food was blah/dull/not worth any wait! and the wait was inexcusably long! And to think they take reservations so they know in advance how slammed they would be!!! My fault for giving them a try inspite of bad reviews! read more

Stay far away from this place!!! Went there this morning for breakfast and everything was just horrible. Waited a long time before we were served. Eventually got our food and 3 of the 4 dishes were not what we ordered. My wife sent back her order because the eggs were soft and not hard as ordered. After nearly an hour of waiting they never provided her breakfast back, and we eventually left without my wife having any breakfast. They also never brought her Latte as ordered and when we asked for the cheque it was still on there. The food was very very average. On previous occasions we have ordered pizza and burgers, but every time the same ordered dish tastes and is presented completely different - there appears to be no standards or even recipe of how to prepare dishes.
