I was craving some Caribbean food and there aren't many close to my spot so I checked Uber eats and found this spot that would deliver. I called twice to double check some information that was confusing on the app and the lady who answered the phone wasn't as helpful as I would have hoped. There were some mixups on the app, which may not be the fault of the restaurant, but calling us the best option in order to rectify, even though it took me 3 minutes to explain to the woman on the phone. I ordered oxtail with rice and peas, and cabbage. When my meal came, it had beans and rice, which is not the same as peas and rice. The cabbage and veggies tasted like frozen or canned veggies and were not fresh. However, the oxtail was tender and really good, which somewhat made up for the other downfalls. My boyfriend ordered a shrimp roti and he said the actual roti didn't taste fresh but the shrimp inside was tasty. Not sure I would order from here again unless I was desperate. read more

It pains me to write this review because I Mr. Rowe is a really good and nice person and I've enjoyed eating at Rowe's when I have eaten here. And even had them cater an event for work. However, today I was quite disappointed when I was laughed at by the person on the phone who took my call. I ordered an excoveitch red snapper and all veggies with plaintains. The menu online says the cost for the fish is $11.95 - $14.95. I imagine that this range in costs is based on the size of the fish. I was automatically charge $16 and some change and the fish I received upon delivery was both small and dry. I surmise it was dry because it was so small and had been cooking for too long. I call the restaurant and ask to speak with Mr. Rowe. When she tells me that he wasn't in and I express disappointment with my fish; she laughs and says they are all small. If you knew the fish was this small the appropriate thing to do was charge me less - I was paying cash AND they had my number, OR give me two. I've had Jamaican restaurants do this before. I frequent here often because I love Jamaican food and Mr Rowe's hospitality and winning smile is second to none. I ordered food here for corporate events and I stop by for lunch (ox tails, fried fish, sorrell). Everything arrives hot, well prepared, and on time. I once, asked that they do not add onions to the macaroni and cheese, that request was greeted with a smile. And delivery is free. Mac and cheese is creamy and cheesey like grandma's seriously Kraft Foods should take notes from Mr.Rowe. I order mac and cheese for each holiday meal and for social events for my son's Boy Scout Troop dinners and its always a hit. The mini beef patties and chicken patties are light, flakey, and seasoned with Caribbean spice and everything nice. The five star rating is that Mr. Rowe goes the extra mile. This restaurant lied to me and stole my money. I placed an order for a breakfast platter via UE and the restaurant accepted my order. typically if a restaurant does not have an item they let you know through the app so you can cancel it - they don't accept it. however Rowe's accepted mine. About 20 mins later I get a call saying they don't have the item I placed the order for. So I told them to cancel it and the woman on the phone said Okay. We hang up and I go to the app and the order is not cancelled. I contact CS and they said they cannot refund me because the restaurant accepted the order. I spoke to three UE reps and they all said the same thing. I call the restaurant back and I asked why they accepted my order and why they didn't cancel it. It is then when the woman says she cant cancel orders are on their end, so she blatantly lied. And admitted they just get the orders in and don't actually look at what is being ordered. I've now had to dispute the charge with my bank because they decided to be greedy and grab my order without checking to make sure they actually had the food! read more

Local, neighborhood, gem. If you like Jamaican food, you should really try Rowe's. You may bump into the owner, he is really nice and welcoming. It's almost like a large family kitchen placed in a restaurant - that is how homemade the food is. Plus, the food is very affordable, you get huge portions, they accept credit cards AND deliver. I LOVE the shrimp roti or the veggie roti. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because you never know if they are able to make the roti dishes. It all depends on if the cook is available, etc...since it has to be cooked fresh and takes about 15 minutes. Also, sometimes they run out of ingredients or dishes (because it's a local fave). Great first-time experience from Rowe's. Our order took about an hour to get to the apartment instead of the generously promised fifteen minutes, but the oxtail was out of this world and so were the rice and peas. I wasn't so thrilled about my jerk chicken, but it was still deliciously tender, and I attribute my disappointment to the fact that I REALLY wanted the oxtail and it wasn't being shared :) Definitely a good place for food delivery, if you're ever in the mood to stay in for the evening, plus you get generous portions that'll last for days. I can't really speak for the jerk here and I know it's a large measure of a good Jamaican spot but I'm a fan of the oxtail and other dishes. They used to take card over the phone but I guess they had either some fraud with customers (are a lot of scam artists in the mood for jerk?) or the workers. Either way it's a slight let down since most Jamaican spots do cash only so this was a bonus for them. The service is always friendly although the delivery takes a bit longer than hoped. Yes! I love their soy chunks with red beans and rice. So good! It's a great vegetarian meal when you're stuck inside and don't want to order pizza again. I also got their lemon ginger juice, which is so fantastic, I was feeling a bit ill and it cleared me right up. I tried to call ahead and order but was left on hold for too long so we just drove over. There was no one there besides us, so the food was prepared fairly quickly. I ordered a medium oxtail dinner with peas and rice and cabbage and a small vegetable plate. My girl ordered a medium stew chicken with peas and rice and cabbage. To pay with a credit/debit card there is a $10 minimum. When I got home I realized they gave me a small peas and rice and veggies instead of just veggies. The oxtails were to die for, tender and juicy, literally perfect. The rice and peas was tasteless, but a nice texture, the gravy from the oxtails helped the taste of the rice. This is the number 1 Jamaican Restaurant in the neighborhood. They have excellent options including great vegetarian options like veggie roti, mac n cheese and lots of goof greens, plantains and stew cabbage with carrots. Rowe also makes his own strong juices which include a great carrot blend, lemon ginger and my personal favorite the ginger beer which will clean out your whole system right quick. My personal favorite dinner item is the brown stewed snapper with rice & peas, cabbage and carrots. A small size order leaves you with more than enough to eat for lunch the next day in addition to filling you up. This costs only $10 and is an amazing bargain considering what you get. Two people could split it and still have leftovers. I don't eat meat often but I have tried their cowfoot stew and brown stew chicken and both were quite nice. Every time I am in there I hear someone ordering ox tails and although I don't eat red meat I am quite sure they are top notch because they sell out of them regularly. The only complaint I used to have about Rowe's was the seating situation which was limited, but now he added a nice stool seating option next to the window and so the restaurant can seat up to 8 people. Don't get me wrong it is primarily a pick up and delivery spot at present, but Rowe is such an awesome and caring guy that when you do sit down for that one meal in a blue moon at Rowe's you'll be in for a real treat. Even if you don't order anything you can sit and talk to Rowe, he is great to talk to, especially about tennis, politics and food. I have taken a few friends there and most recently enjoyed a wonderful meal there with my sister in which we received royal treatment. This was the same day Rowe's donated 75 cocktail patties to the community garden I work in for a volunteer event there, and so you can understand that he has his priorities in order. As someone who has lived in the area for the past 3 years, I know that this is not only the best Jamaican restaurant in Bed-Stuy but also the cleanest and friendliest. I also recently discovered an amazing breakfast there that includes dumplings, provision, saltfish and ackee and is definitely worth splurging on every now and then when you wanna skip lunch or eat light in the middle of the day. I love Rowes. I tend to always order the same thing, the chicken Roti. It is a delicious saucy curry chicken with dark meat (not boneless), potatoes and carrots etc inside a roti shell. (If you've never had Roti, it looks like a burrito but the wrap is made from chickpeas) . I highly recommend trying one. It's a large satisfying meal.
