I just moved to Paso. I have not been to a hair salon in almost a year, so I called a few places to get a feel for the salons before I decided where to book my appointment. The owner Jackie answered the phone,was so kind and got me an appointment with Lauren for the next day due to a cancellation. I loved the salon, it's really nice, everyone had masks on,and there was social distancing that made me feel safe. Lauren was so sweet, made me feel welcome and comfortable. This is the salon to go to! Upscale, beautiful interior, and I love that it's on Pine Street; close to downtown but off the beaten path enough that parking and accessibility is no problem. And they are located right next to Vivant cheese shop! Edward is AMAZING. I had the hair horror story, that one where your last stylist cut it 6" too short, destroyed your style, and you spent the next 8 months growing it out without a single trim? Yep, that's what he had to contend with for my hair cut. I have very thick hair and it was an overgrown mop. I loved that as a new client the front desk directed me to their website to fill out an intake form, where I got to answer questions about what I was looking for, what my hair was like, etc. Then you get matched with a stylist and you make your appointment through them. Needless to say, I was matched with my perfect stylist. Edward brought me to the chair, took ample time to play with and get to know my hair, talk through what I was looking for, I showed him an inspo pic of what I was going for, and he cut it perfectly! Thinned it all out in just the right way, gave me the feathered layers I love, and even styled it the way I would style it, according to the inspo pic. I can now rest easy knowing I'm in good hands and have found my regular salon! read more

FYI: This review is solely based off of customer service and skincare, to save everyone else a little time reading. It is highly unusual for me to write a review for an establishment I have only been to once, but since I was so happy with the service I had to make an exception. I called the salon and thankfully they had a same-day appointment for an eyebrow wax. To be completely honest, I had originally called to book Andi based off of her personal Yelp! reviews, but was assigned Amy and just decided to go with it since I don't have much time to take care of my brows.* I did have to wait a little past my appointment time, I think something like ten minutes so not enough to subtract a star. When I finally met Amy she was very nice and asked a number of super important questions: Is this your first time at the salon (yes)? Have you had your eyebrows waxed before (yes)? Do you normally break out after having them waxed (YES!)? I have never been asked if my skin has done that up front. I mention it on my own from time to time with different skin care experts, and some of them have come up with some suggestions but none of them have been successful in preventing a breakout. This is the first time this concern has been addressed up front for me. I mentioned I have incredibly sensitive skin that gets super pink and I break out horribly after. She did a couple of things that involved something cold and some type of oil and I am absolutely amazed I am breakout free four days later. My brows were also done quite nicely. Afterwards I was given some samples of products to address some of my skin concerns. This is a major plus because some of those products are really quite pricey. I very rarely buy products recommended to me because they are so expensive and I have no guarantee they'll work for my skin type. I was given a sample of Probiotic Cleanser and Moisturizer. I used them once and my husband actually commented on my skin. My completely- oblivious-can't-remember-most-of-the-people-in-our-temple husband actually noticed my skin. Uhhh, winner! So I called back to get the prices on the two products and the lady who answered the phone was extremely nice. She listened to me patiently and looked up the prices of the bottles without a trace of hesitation that usually indicates the other person on the line doesn't want to do anything of the sort. Overall it was a fantastic experience. The place is a bit pricey, but I have complete trust in Amy when it comes to my skin. I have been esthetician hopping for years since I moved here and I seriously cannot say enough good things. I will be coming back and I highly recommend Amy for any of your skin care needs. The lady knows her craft. *It should also be mentioned that I did not request Andi (the other esthetician) or mention her at any time if you're wondering if the salon even offered another appointment with her. read more

All I can say is WOW!! I was recommended by a close friend to get my first brazilian wax done here, so I thought I'd give it a try. When I first walked in Amy was a little behind but the woman at the register offered me water and to either look around the store or wait in the waiting room, so I walked around a bit. A lot of the clothing in the store is a bit pricy but the services they offer aren't. ESPECIALLY for the quality of work they do. I had the most amazing experience with my first EVER brazilian wax and all I can say is, I am definitely going back because of the service and because Amy is SO wonderful! I called kind of last minute hoping for an appt opening and unfortunately they didn't have any, but they said they would call me if there were any cancellations. Thankfully they had one and I was able to fit right in before my trip to Hawaii. Trust me I was nervous going into my first brazilian wax, but Amy reassured me through the way she was able to make me feel so comfortable and answered ANY questions I had (and that was quite a few considering I knew nothing about waxing). We even had wonderful conversation beside just waxing, which was nice because it was more personable. Amy is the Central Coast queen of the Brazilian wax. Don't even try anywhere else, I have been to them all and Amy is by far the best. She uses soft wax and strips (none of that flick flick hard wax hell), finishes in a half hour, and is very thorough. Best of all, she waxes it ALL, and I mean all... I mean, who wants a smooth muffin and a hairy bootie, right? Not me. The rest of the salon seems excellent too, although they recently removed the seating area in the reception in favor of adding a bunch of ugly jewelry, which is only mildly annoying because I don't have to wait for Amy, she's always right on time. :-) read more

Every time that I walk into this salon I have a great experience. I get brazilian and full leg waxing done by Amy. She is an absolute expert (especially with those tricky brazilians) working quickly and efficiently to get beautiful results. I will go to no one else else now for my waxing. Last week Amy gave me my first facial, that left me so relaxed and radiant. I've been battling acne for 20+ years now, and Amy's suggestions were very helpful. I have only had one hair treatment done in the salon, so far, by Cinnamon. She is a truly wonderful person, as well as a professional stylist. Jacque, the owner/manager, is always very friendly and welcoming. I feel more like a guest in their home rather than just a salon client. The prices seem reasonable, and I do feel as though the staff truly cares about my experience in their salon. I do go to other places for my haircuts, and pedicures. However, this is ONLY because I am a loyal, longtime client of those professionals, and happy with their services...thus no need to change. If by chance they move away or retire soon, Salon Roux will be the first place I'll go. Hi all! I visited Salon Roux for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I have curly hair, and I've struggled to find a stylist that will listen to me and give me the haircut I need; which is saying something, because I've been to A LOT of different stylists (including a few Deva Curl specialists). I met with Krystal feeling particularly frustrated and self-conscious about my hair, and I left her chair FINALLY feeling good about myself again. Not only did she listen to what I wanted, but she was efficient too. My last hair stylist literally had me sitting in the chair for hours for a cut that was significantly more expensive. I know it's taken me a while to get around to writing this review, but in the days that have passed since my haircut, I've only loved my hair more. So here I am! I am a part-time resident to Paso Robles from Iowa. This was definitely my favorite boutique on my last trip. We spend two months in Paso and get the opportunity to explore a lot of places over two months. The owner was so incredibly accommodating and informative. The store is layed out with the amazing boutique up front and the salon/spa in the back. I can't wait to go back, I get compliments on my hats every time I wear them. I was made a fresh pot of coffee upon arriving and given a tour of the salon since it was my first visit. Josh, the stylist I saw, was absolutely rad. My hair experience here was less than desirable. I wanted to go all blonde, from a foiled lowlight/highlight blonde color, not too dark, not too light to start. It turned out yellow/gold. Not a nice outcome to say the least for $105 and 4 hours of chair time. The owner and the stylist let me leave the salon and told me it looked "good", well it didn't. I was so frazzled by the wierd color that I forgot to mention the first time visit 20% coupon they listed on their website, I didn't print it out, but I did mention the coupon when I made my appt. I tipped the stylist and left with a tear running down my cheek.....I called later to ask for another appt on Saturday to fix it, but was told by the owner that my stylist did not work on the weekends. Shrug and terror again with having to live with the color for the next week. I wore a hat for the next week while I was out of town and then made another appt. to get it fixed. Another 3 hours and 3 stylist consultations later I did get blonde, but it still wasn't what I went in for and although I like it I don't love the new color. My stylist did give me a nice hair treatment though to ease the trauma to my hair for the extensive coloring so that was nice of her. However, when I explained to the owner that I forgot to print out the 20% coupon she responded that I had to print it out and bring it in on the first appt. Then she said "well not all hairdressers honor that coupon since they are indpendent contractors". I was shocked and thought, well that is kind of false advertisement right? She refused to ask the stylist if she would honor the coupon after all that I had been through and she said "No, I can't do that and interrupt her current client". It's not like she was in the middle of surgery, this is what I was thinking. She said she would call me after asking the stylist about the coupon. I never got a call from the stylist or the OWNER of the salon to let me know either way. The stylist did what she could to the best of her abilities to correct the hair color but I was disappointed with the owner and her lack of customer service and not following through with what she said she would do when it came to the coupon issue. read more

My hair can almost be styled with a brush after being cut so short in a manner that was totally wrong for my type of hair. I had a fantastic experience today getting partial highlights and a trim with Margaret. I thought the price was extremely reasonable for such a gorgeous salon and experienced stylist. In addition to giving me a beautiful color and cut, Margaret took extra time to style my hair beautifully and add a shine gloss. I live in NYC but would definitely come back if I visit Paso again. My only criticism would be that, while I requested that the highlights be as natural as possible, I think the stylist could have been a little bolder with the color, since the highlights only barely lightened my hair at all. read more
