I hope she got the message that it was NOT the Esthetician. I didn't even meet her or book an appt. with HER~ I thought I made that crystal clear??? Okay then... I chose Joseph Antone salon for my wedding day hair and makeup, and the whole experience was just fabulous. I had a trial included in the package I chose, but honestly it wouldn't have even been necessary, as they got everything right the first time. Denise, the owner of the salon, styled my hair. I have her very little description to work with ("curly, down, but not prom-like!"), and it came out exactly how I would have envisioned it, if I knew what to envision! Shayna did my makeup, and it was also gorgeous. I was a little nervous about getting pro-makeup done (my husband claims to be one of those "women look better without makeup" guys, even though I wear makeup everyday), so I was worried that there would be too much makeup and I wouldn't look like myself. But Shayna operates under the philosophy that she is there to create a "better version of you", so she starts with a very natural application, and then plays up any features you want to be more dramatic. I got my hair and makeup done around noon on the wedding day, and they both stayed beautifully until the after-party ended at 1am, even though the day was hot and the night was windy! The atmosphere of the salon is very modern and chic--decorated in warm tones, with cold, fresh cucumber water to sate your thirst on a hot day! The day of the wedding, Denise brought in some champagne and strawberries and delicious locally-baked goods. She gave me exactly what I asked for and she was fast and efficient! I was worried the style might go flat by the time the wedding came around, i got my hair done at 11 and the wedding was at 5:30, but it held up beautiful. It really surprised me - it was super friendly, comfortable, and every person there had a kind word and a smile on their face. I was impressed with what all the stylists were creating and their commitment to working with their clients. And you have to visit the wild ladies room! Carrie Lovell has been my miracle worker for many years - during long hair, short hair and hair of many colors she just knows how to get the results you want. I recently had my long hair cut short and done platinum blonde and I love it! She is Fabulous and a realist! Michelle took one look at my brassy locks and without judgement, had an attack plan all while still making me feel good about myself. She took my hair dark, gave me a completely new style that added body and energy back to my hair and then died my eyebrows. It was a complete change and I LOVE it! Beware! Drama filled salon! Owner takes some thing said as simple as "my bangs are a little short" so personal that she won't let me book an appointment with her anymore. It's a shame because I told her I loved it. she has done a wonderful job more than once on my hair. So I guess to everyone: fair warning don't let her think you're "hard to please" or want to chenge it up at the next appointment- she will tell u to see someone else in a not so nice way. Update- owner decided to leave a voice mail telling me she heard it from another stylist at the salon, that I said owner "jacked up my bangs." such drama!!! It makes sense to me in hind sight why she wasnt ever friendly when i came in to see the other stylist she referred me to because she cant do balayage technique. Wow all over a small comment that they were a little short! Can u imagine I went to that stylist 4 or 5 more times completely oblivious of all the drama! Another stylist moved from the salon saying to me they are snobby- guess I should have taken her advice! This is a very beautiful salon to go to! Every one is friendly not the least bit snobby in any way. I have had denise give me a truely beautiful cut, fix my hair color in the past and be completely professional. I will also add that michele is wonderful too! I am one of those last minute or Im going to get out the box dye type of girls ..I admit I always book last minute and have gone to someone new each time without them treating me diffrently for that. I've gone to three stylists there and can't make my mind up on who i like best- this is coming from the type A perfectionist that is hard to please. I would feel confident going to any one in that salon as fony as that sounds. I have since spoken with the owner who explained that there was a miscommunication between the staff about the value of my mom's gift certificate. The owner truly went out of her way to make things right and I sincerely appreciate the gesture. She called my mother with apologies for the mix-up and offered to have her come in for the manicure and complimentary services at a later date. It was my first time there and I'm a little leery of going to random stylist because i got a really bad cut and it took me months to grow out the damage. I am from out of town and didn't have time to get a bang trim before I left. So I found this salon on Yelp and decided to pop in and see if someone could give me a quick bang trim. I didn't realize it was inside of a Sola Salons. I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to get a bang trim walking in an hour before closing. But Denise was happy to oblige. She cut my bangs exactly like I asked her too, which is a little too short. I do this because they grow so fast and I cannot stand hair in my eyes! I was super excited to try Joseph Antone based on the reviews. BUT I had an awful experience of hair color here. My stylist was Danielle. She took forever trying to understand what I wanted. Even though I had several pictures of the color. The color was NUFIN like the pictures I showed her. I could have got an amazing color, for what I've payed, but the result was nothing near what I wanted. I would have gone some place elsewhere. The stylist let me leave the salon and told me it looked "good", well it didn't. I will NOT recommend this salon to anyone. read more

I had an appointment at Joseph Antone, scheduled it on the phone a month before my son's wedding in Paso Robles. But when I got there (the day before the wedding!) they told me that I was not on the schedule. They were sorry, but there was only one hair stylist in that day, and they couldn't help me at all. They called a few places in town to try to find someone who could do it, but no luck. They said they were sorry, but there was nothing they could do. I was close to tears and PANIC!! I booked Joseph Antone to do my hair for my wedding day, as well as my two sisters and my three nieces (who are all ages 6 to 9). I am not from the area, so I booked it based on a few Yelp reviews, and I couldn't get down there to do my trial (which is included with the booking) until two days before my wedding. Needless to say, I was nervous. However, I learned during my trial that I had absolutely no reason to be nervous, since the stylists are wonderful and completely know what they are doing! Misty did my trial run, and the moment I met her I knew it would work out because her hair looked great. I showed her a few pictures and relayed some of my vague ideas (I really didn't have a clear idea of what I wanted), and she went right to it. And it was PERFECT. She totally listened to me and gave me something that incorporated my ideas and the reality of my hair. After all those months worrying that I wasn't sure what I wanted my hair to look like, I was so relieved at how much I loved it that I seriously almost cried tears of joy! The day of the wedding was also perfect. The salon provided complimentary champagne and delicious local pastries. We had a large group, and the salon was very kind and flexible about us basically taking over the joint. Sadly, I do not know the names of the other two stylists who helped that day, because I wish I could give them credit by name. They did a fabulous job on my sisters and nieces. My older sister even said she wished she could have used Joseph Antone for her own wedding. And they did some amazingly creative, cool stuff with the little ones...I was really blown away. Everyone looked truly fantastic and had a great time. My mother has very short hair and did not have an appointment, but Denise took some time to give my mom's hair some "oomph," and they didn't even charge us for that. There was also a minor confusion about pricing when I went to check out, and they were very helpful and we sorted it all out quickly. I will also add that booking the wedding day and the trial was very easy. I am forever grateful to Misty for making my hair look perfect on my wedding day! Also, it stayed perfect the WHOLE DAY, even despite some wind during the outdoor ceremony and hours of dancing. I am also grateful to the rest of the salon for how happy my whole family was with the experience. I highly recommend this salon for their skills and excellent service. It's hard to find a good hair salon, (or stylist) let alone a great one! I'm sure there are many psychological implications of this, of which we probably don't even want to know. What I can tell you is that I called Wednesday morning, to schedule an apt. for Thursday. That can be daring in and of itself because we tend to believe those who have appointments available at short notice must not be very good. NOT the case here. The young lady who answered the phone talked with me about what I wanted in a cut. I gave her a general idea and she suggested Jamie, with the understanding that whomever I chose at the salon would be a winner in every way. Well, I can only attest for Jamie, at this point. My appointment was Thursday at 2:00 and took about an hour. He was attentive to my desires in style, he share his thoughts at my request, he was pleasant, professional, detailed, and I might even say a perfectionist when it comes to hair: measuring, checking and re-checking to make sure the cut was according to his obviously high standards. I absolutely loved the cut and how he styled it when he was done. He gave pointers as to how I might accomplish the same look at home (which is where I often run into difficulties and frustration). He told me what he was using on my hair each step of the way, answered my questions about coloring and yet did not deliver any pushy sales tactics to get me to buy the products or up-sale to hair coloring, So, the big test was waking up on Friday morning and attempting to gain a similar look to what Jamie had accomplished the day before. Using his techniques, I DID IT!! How great is that! I love the look and the cut, ( a cross between an A-Line and a Bob). I will be back. I will be a regular, and if Jamie's not there I may even try another person because their reputation is such that you can be confident in any hair dresser you choose at this salon. Thank you Jamie. I appreciate your efforts, your professionalism and what I consider your great success in making a woman from Paso feel terrific about her hair.
