We've used Roto Rooter for two services, but won't be calling for a third. The first time was a main sewer line repair and the second was a hot water heater replacement. The first repair was poorly coordinated in terms of communication. People weren't telling us when they were coming by or when they were finished. They just showed up and left unanounced. But they did the job so we called again when the heater broke. The heater replacement was worse. We paid $3400 for a new tank water heater replacement and only $1000 went towards the materials. The remaining $2400 went towards someone spending 10 hours at our house to, yes, replace the heater, but also to leave ugly 1 ft long holes in our drywall (they looked like they were created with blunt force instead of actually cutting first; see photo). The holes were ultimately unnecessary for the replacement. I called back and Roto Rooter told us they wouldn't do drywall repairs. They sent someone else out (who also didn't call before getting to our house again; woke up my sick napping toddler, very stressful) just to tell me it was our duty to get a quote from another contractor so Roto Rooter could pay us back for the drywall repair. Overall, working with them was more frustrating than if I had simply bought a new heater myself and Youtube-d my way through the repair. Totally not worth $2400.

    Cutting out the blockage.

There is a drain unclogging expert at the Austin Ridgepoint office who is so good at what he does, and is really personable and helpful with the customer that Roto rooter should really have Colton teach others - all 10's !

They bid $2500 to replace a water heater. I got a second opinion & it was "repaired" for $150. Need I say more?

Fantastic, because I have plenty of positive things to say about Bryan & Co. First of all, let's go back to trust. It's really hard to find companies and people you can trust, but Bryan is definitely one of those select few. He spent so much time on the phone with me explaining the details and process of the job I needed done. He never got frustrated with my endless questions or my indecisiveness. He taught me all about mold, mitigation, remediation, restoration, and the process for estimating costs. He set my anxious mind at ease, which is not an easy task. Then his team came and did a great job! All of the recon companies mentioned they were worried the counter top would get broken during demo, so Bryan sent his counter top guy out to take it off. Success! Counter top stayed intact as did everything else that should have. Here's a very impressive thing: Bryan accurately estimated a job that someone (who will remain nameless) gave to a company with a lower initial estimate. Not shockingly, when the job was done, the bill was what Bryan quoted from the beginning. I tell this story so you know that even if his estimate is higher, it doesn't mean ANR is going to be more expensive. It just means they are more accurate, up front, and honest. So again, stop wasting time reading and getting tons of quotes. Certainly don't make the mistake of going with a low-ball company. Just call Bryan and rest assured All Nation will do right by you and the job will be done right.

Chase and his team initially answered the phone and came to our house following multiple water slab pipe leaks (cold and hot lines) in our kitchen and living room area. He helped us with mitigation was super nice, easy to deal with, and fully understood that me and my family were going through a lot of stress at the time. They sectioned off the area that needed to be dried out and ensure all the dehumidifiers, blowers and purifier units were placed inside this area to help control the heat in an area without any AC vents. This made a huge difference for us since it allowed us to continue to live in our home while going through this painful and lengthy process and still have full use of our kitchen sink throughout the entire 3 month process. We also decided to use them for the restoration portion of the job which we didn't have to do. That's when we worked with Andrew and Tanner as well as Rodrigo and Nelson. They had a lot of work to do including replacing all of our kitchen cabinets, doing lots of dry wall repairs throughout the home, add insulation inside walls, plus much more. They worked with our schedule throughout the entire process and kept us up to date with texts and emails so we always knew what was happening at any given point. Mostly, they were professional, always punctual, fully knowledgeable and patient with us. We would highly recommended them.

    Gerloff Company

    Gerloff Company

    (3 reviews)

If you've ever heard the old adage "do your research first" before hiring a company, The Gerloff…read moreCompany would be the epitome of why. Had we read the numerous negative reviews beforehand, we would have chosen a different company. If your insurance company refers you to them, take your checks and run! We suffered a water leak in a second floor bathroom, which leaked through the ceiling and down into the first floor. The water mitigation company (Lenz) was great, and worked through the weekend to get it dried out. However, then Gerloff took over. And that's when what should have been a fairly routine job turned into 19 weeks or nothing but headache. This job should have been 7-8 weeks tops, and it went almost 19 weeks. I continually voiced my concerns and displeasure. I had to repeatedly ask for updates, estimates, and allowances. We repeatedly took time off from work to meet with difference contractors, and multiple times, they did not show. The only reason work began when it did was that I took time out of my work schedule to visit with the Vice President of the company and threatened to pull the contract and go elsewhere. There was not a SINGLE work item that was completed without issue, or having to be done a second time and even a third time. Rooms were started to be painted wrong colors, tile flooring was put in wrong, backsplash work was done poorly, damaged cabinets and loose flooring was left in place for weeks despite request to remove it, etc. etc. I understand that we are not the only client Gerloff has, but I feel as there was absolutely no sense of urgency in getting anything done. We literally had no kitchen (No stove, no sink), holes in the ceiling and walls, and torn up flooring in numerous rooms. However, when it came time for Gerloff to get paid, there's been multiple texts, phone calls and letters request for that. I imagine I won't be able to handle paying for this the way the job was handled? Not on time, partial payment, incorrect amounts, or bounced checks? Probably not. We've received a 'final' bill in the mail, but still have not received the warranty information on the work. The job was not completed until July 12th, yet on the bill I received it states that we have a balance that is already "61 to 90" days past due. Much like the numerous erroneous estimates, this is also incorrect. I'm not a mathematician, but I feel pretty confident in stating that July 12 - August 13 is less than 60 days. The Vice Presidents response when I questioned him? It "was for the substantial completion of your project.".... not the actual completion of my project. So, expect to be billed even before the project is complete. I've continually voiced my concerns with the Vice President, and basically was asked "are you satisfied with the end result of the work?". I can only assume that since this was an insurance claim, the Gerloff Company doesn't particularly care how long it took or the inconvenience it caused, because they were getting their money whether it took one week or fifty two. His final email to me when I sent a follow up to a previous email was "I didn't feel like your email required a follow up email." And despite how Gerloff handled the work in our home, leisurely and with no sense of urgency, they're on top of their game with several letters DEMANDING prompt payment, but couldn't complete the job promptly.

Based on personal, first-hand experience with this company, I am warning unsuspecting consumers…read morethat Gerloff is less than the ethical and honest business I would expect from an enterprise on USAA's Contractor Connect. In fact, the only reason I accepted Gerloff's offer of work was based solely on the USAA's recommendation. Never again. Be warned: Gerloff shamelessly 'pads' their quotes, and includes areas of work that do not need to be done and, worse, expect the consumer to pay for work quoted and not done at all. I had a rather small job to do and when I carefully, very carefully, went over their quote, line by line, I noted hundreds of dollars of work that did not need to be done, or the job was inflated to make it more profitable for Gerloff, and costly for me, the unwary consumer. I sincerely believe Gerloff unethically pads their work quotes because most people don't really check a quote, carefully, line by line, and just go along with the quote, trustingly, even foolishly. And, clearly, USAA is not supervising or overseeing these quotes, just 'going along' with what the contractor quotes because 'it looks OK,' or 'that's standard practice.' Consumers should be extremely careful about what is and is not 'standard practice,' especially since it's the unwary consumer who has to foot the bill for work not needed or work quoted and shamelessly not done at all. Please note I am not using that other 'f-word' to suggest that this company is guilty of doing something seriously illegal, because that is not my area of expertise, it's the law courts. But I don't need a lawyer to tell me that I am being ripped off and cheated. In the end I fired this company and felt good about doing it. Buyer, consumer, beware of using Gerloff, because they seem to be profiting from their assumption that dumb, naive, trusting consumers don't read or study or question their quotes. I need to end with my statement that the Gerloff tradesman who did do some work on this job was skilled and professional. He should not be held responsible for the questionable work ethics of management. I have never felt the need to post anything on Yelp before; this is my first time. This is now posted out of a sense of common decency to protect the unsuspecting from being duped and conned by an untrustworthy company that is possibly in fiscal trouble. Call it my civic duty to my fellow citizens: don't get ripped off!

They were a little late, but had the address written incorrectly. I'll give them that. They went to work to detect my leak and as they began, I started feeling like it was not going to work out. I could go into detail, but that would be too long. They marked a spot on my garage floor for the plumbing company to come back and jackhammer through to the leak. Problem was there was no leak there. Smart Dry came back to fill in the hole due to their error. The concrete that was removed was about 5 to 6 inches thick, but Smart Dry was going to smooth concrete over the dirt in the hole as if they were icing a cake. I told them I want the same amount that was removed. Smart Dry put concrete in, but didn't have enough. They came back a second time to add more concrete and still didn't have enough, so they later placed a third layer. Mind you, this hole was 2 1/2 ft. x 1 1/2ft. Not like it need a cement truck, or mixer. The final result is NOT smooth and looks unprofessional. Then Smart Dry tried to locate the leak again. Ivan, who never came to the site insisted I needed an additional shut-off valve that would cost me aprox. $500. While I was on the phone with Ivan the crew drove away. They failed to turn my water back on at MY shut-off and failed to mention the valve broke when they were turning it. Smart Dry called the crew back, they had to call another plumber to repair the broken valve. After repeated calls and talking to Lynn and Ivan with assurances they would call me back, send someone to check the concrete, correct errors, Lynn says there is nothing else she can do and she is part owner. Bad work, poor communication and never found the leak.

Exceptional O & Plumbing Service Experience…read more I highly recommend O & M Plumbing for any plumbing needs. In particular, Chris F. has consistently demonstrated exceptional skill and professionalism on every project of mine. His attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship set him apart as a truly outstanding plumber. Project Background I recently purchased an older home, full of charm and distinctive bathrooms. However, I encountered a leak in the master shower that required the p-trap under the shower drain to be replaced before new tile work could be completed. My concern was that reconnecting the new p-trap to the antique cast iron drains in the foundation might cause the cast iron to crumble. Chris F.'s Approach and Solutions Chris came to the rescue, using a camera down the drain to evaluate the situation. He explained the difference between what was probable and what was possible, providing two bids: one for the probable good case and one for the possible problem case. Having used Chris before with excellent results, I trusted his methods, which are always the least intrusive and focused on effective access. In the worst-case scenario, Chris would need to cut and excavate a 2' x 2' hole in the foundation around the shower drain, then tunnel no more than five feet under the foundation from that access point to secure a solid connection to the iron drainpipe. In the best-case scenario, he would only need to excavate a 2' x 2' hole around the shower drain to replace and secure the new p-trap. He also showed me pictures of his past work for reassurance. Successful Outcome Fortunately, the best-case and probable case prevailed. While fixing the p-trap, Chris also discovered an unrelated drain leak under the foundation, which he repaired at no extra charge. I felt I received excellent value for the service provided. Professionalism and Work Quality Chris left the work site clean, as he has always done in the past. He and his co-worker collaborated well, using a small and quiet jackhammer designed specifically for plumbing foundation work. The new drain looks beautiful, and I can confidently proceed with the new tile work, knowing that the unseen part of the shower is sound and affordable. Appreciation Thanks to O & M Plumbing for introducing me to Chris F. and Mike. Both are good and considerate professionals, and I am grateful to have them working in my home.
