First time finding a place that offered GF pita bread! Both gf and "normal" pita bread was warm, light and absolutely delicious! The atmosphere reminded me of chipotle, build your own Mediterranean meal. I would definitely come back here if I were visiting DC again. Not a very good experience. The person who took our order didn't seem very thrilled that he had to put his phone away to help us...no one working there was very friendly at all. period. The chicken and rice was okay, the steak was pretty gross (very very rare). On a positive side, the hummus was good and the pita bread was very good. Just come here for bad service, hummus and pita, and you'll be alright. lol. Although there are probably a lot better choices out there. read more

Love this location! The manager is super nice - every time I have had a problem, he addresses it quickly and kindly. One time I accidentally ordered to the wrong location! He called the other store, told the manager, and then made me the salad himself. I have also been given a free drink once or twice when I forgot to order one. I also appreciate that they have the nutrition online, so I can have a decently healthy salad that is still really tasty. I am fan. read more

They catered half the food for our office holiday party this year, and I'd definitely recommend them. It was easy to place the order over the phone, and they called the day before to confirm. The food was ready to go when we arrived, and everyone enjoyed it. If you're dining in, they can have a bit of a line during lunch, but it usually moves fast. There's a decent amount of seating both downstairs and upstairs. It's nice to have a fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant close to my office for the occasional lunch. read more

Love, love...LOVE this place! The portion sizes are good, the food taste fresh and the service is FANTASTIC! It's not often that I give 5 stars but when I do y'all know it must be good! The falafel was very tasty, the hummus was nice and smooth and the steak was very tender and full of flavor. I WILL BE BACK!!! read more

I've been here twice and enjoyed both times, esp. today. I got there before noon so was able to enjoy warm, freshly made falafel. Wow! The rest of the salad was good as well. read more

Not sure about the low reviews. This place is awesome. Went twice in one week. Had my reservations because I likened it to be like Merzi's. That it is not. Prices $8-10 is typical for lunch in this area. The portions are right on for the price. The food was fresh and innovative. Hesitated with the falafel, thought it wouldn't be good. I was wrong! They were larger and tasty. The eggplant, cabbage, couscous and pickled onions.....yummy! Can't speak for the rice or vegetables, didn't look too appealing to me. If you are tired of sandwiches and fast food try this place. Only open minded people need apply. Get there early, the line can get long. read more

OK think Chipotle's gone Mediterranean, but a lot more healthy with some very exciting sides. If you like eating at Fresh Market you'll LOVE Roti and SAVE a ton over what it costs to eat at Fresh Market. Some staff is very helpful, others would just as soon driver their car over you as look at you. Manager is very nice and he seems very engaged in your experience. read more

Roti - Fantastic! Had steak rice plat with cucumber dressing, grilled veggies, cabbage salad, hummus, and pita chips. Awesome healthy food, $16. - Mediterranean Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

This worker are the rudest, a**holes in the world. Nasty attitudes and spend their energy rushing you through the line in offensive manner. Two of the women working had attitudes and dumped so much sauce on my rice that theres more sauce than rice. The other lady dumped a whole fist full of cilantro and when I asked her to take some out she replied it's too late. Terrible establishment, the only Roti with this type of customer service. Will never return, and I work up the street. read more

I got the chicken kabob with mixed salads and had unlimited toppings/dressings like mixed vegetables, hummus and couscous. It's a good place for healthy options! read more

Roti - Chicken kabob with mixed salads! - Mediterranean Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I highly recommend this place! As weary travelers from out of town, we arrived hungry and intrigued about this Mediterranean restaurant. The food was superb-- filled with a variety of veggies and dips (and gluten free options). Our server, Michael (who is also one of the managers) was the best! He made us feel welcome, and helped walk us through the process. We don't have a Roti's where we're from, and there are lots of options. Afterwards, he further checked in with us about the food, which was delicious. I felt so taken care of. I am not a city person, but going here the first day of our visit made me think-- are all city people so kind? DC feels like just one big rural city. Thank you, Michael, for your excellent service! Again, I highly recommend this place! I will try to post a photo I took, soon. Such a great time! read more

I was not expecting this in DC! The prices were so reasonable, and the food was quality! I enjoyed the set-up of being like a chipotle line, however we did arrive at prime lunchtime and the line weaved through the sit down tables making it a bit awkward for everyone. However, back to the food, it was delicious! I am the type to tell them to put it all on there, and I am so glad I did. I got to try a bit of all their offerings, and it all was delicious! read more

My husband picked us up dinner-to-go from here. My falafel salad was delicious and I can't rave enough about the Gluten-Free pita. It was perfect and warm. Hubby was very happy with his meal also. read more

This was my first time trying roti and I must say I was pleasantly surprised at 1) how good the food was 2) how amazing service was. I had salad + brown rice and got steak as my choice of protein. The steak was cooked to my preference--medium well. Tried roasted red pepper and yogurt topping. They ran out of meat but compensated by giving us complementary drink (which was so good!) and sampling of roti chicken. On that note, I highly recommend roti chicken. It was so good and charred flavor was just too good to be true. They give you pretty good portion too. I personally liked this place better than cava but that's just me *shoulder shrug read more

Roti is one of my favorite quick lunch time destinations. The food is always fresh and flavorful. The staff is friendly and service runs pretty quick. I haven't had anything I didn't like. The protein and toppings carry such a powerful punch with the red cabbage slaw and pickled onion, it ends up being a party in your mouth! Once in a while the salmon can be a little dry so I would check it out before you order it. For a non greasy fresh lunch I recommend Roti any day. read more

Very friendly for GF folks - most of the menu qualifies, and they also have GF pita that they toasted on separate equipment while wrapped in foil. Falafels were a little small, but tasty and had plenty of chickpeas. Quick, easy, and tasty. read more

The problem is with the quantity of the food, not the quality. I used to come here every day for lunch for a few weeks because when you order double meat, the Mediterranean Plate is loaded with protein. Therein lies the problem and reason for the 2 measly stars. Apparently, this Roti Mediterranean Grill has a policy whereby they must shake off meat from the scooper/ladle before they put it onto your plate. It's like saying "look at how much meat we could give you" and then crushing your hopes with some shake technique that I think could only come from special training. This is incredibly deceptive because one reasonably assumes that the size of the meat serving will be commensurate with the size of the serving utensil. Not so here. This is why I stopped going. I wonder how much money they think they are actually saving by doing this . . . . read more

UPDATE: I upgraded my stars because the restaurant promptly responded to me on the issue. That was much appreciated! Thanks Roti! I went there after someone recommended this place. This is the closet one to where I live. They close at 9. I arrived at 8:20 and the door was looked. Someone who was in there eating already let me in after knocking. I walked up to find the workers already had put up the food. At 8:20?! This means you don't close at 9. I think this is poor customer service. Won't be going here again. read more

A cab driver quipped, "In DC, we make the simple complex and the complex stupid." That line cracked me up and I forewarned him I planned on using it. Here, the simple is done very well-from a strategically limited menu to clear directions in terms of the order in which to, well, order. Indeed, this is Chipotle style, which means simplicity is a design principle and it works here. I shared the sultan sandwich with a friend--which was fresh and well balanced (no part overwhelmed the flavor of the whole). We also split an order of three falafels--mmm! There is no kick in this spicy so bring your own sauce if you like it hot. Otherwise, nice casual mediterranean joint that is affordable and solid. read more

I absolutely loved it here. The employees were warm and efficient. The food was incredible--everything I ordered had bold flavors and a really nice fresh taste. I'm a vegetarian and don't like dairy, and I had a ton of great options to choose from. That's a rarity for me, and one I appreciate! The falafel was easily the best I've ever had, and the side dishes complimented it well. I had lentil soup too which was also amazing--the employee who helped me put rice in it, and that added a great touch of texture. I thought the decor was great as well. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and bright. I was with my mom and sister, and we all felt relaxed and comfortable as we ate. I would eat here all the time if I lived in D.C. I will definitely be coming back when I visit next. read more

The food is amazing but the staff could use some lessons in patience. I was literally the only person in line on a Saturday afternoon and the woman rushed me through the line as if it was a packed house. I recently discovered this place and was still unsure of all the sauces and toppings and felt obligated to make a choice because of her impatience and attitude. Slow down chief this isn't a race it's a restaurant. read more

Worst customer service, seems smiles are prohibited in this place (even two employees engaged in a fight) half of the items were out. Dirty trays, you feel scared if you ask the staff for anything...never gonna come back read more

I visited this location for the first time yesterday. My review is for an online pickup order. My coworker and I really enjoyed our food. She had a salad with chicken and I had a rice bowl with chicken kabob and lamb balls. Both of us were very pleased with our food. I would have given this place 4 stars but I took a star off for my interaction with the cashier, Tyra. She was more than a bit rude and dismissive. As I said, I ordered our food directly from their site. When I walked in to pick it up, I was directed by one of the young men at the counter to go to the register and that person would help me get my order. So I walked up to the register and the woman behind the register, Tyra, basically ignored me. I looked over and could see a bag on the counter. I figured it was probably/maybe my order. Finally after a few minutes of no acknowledgement I just spoke up and told her I have a to-go order. At first she looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language and she had no idea what I could possibly be talking about. Then she said, "What is your name?" So I told her my name and she immediately walked to the back. Then she came back and said, "I need to see your order. Show me proof of your order." Even though I printed out my order confirmation, I left it on the printer at work. However, it wasn't hard to bring it up on my phone. However, I was taken aback by her tone and attitude. As I took out my phone to bring it up, I said, "I think that could be my order there?" and I pointed to the lone bag sitting on the counter. She wouldn't even go over to look to see if it said my name. With an attitude she said, "We get many, many orders." And that was it. I have no idea what that meant as far as why them getting many orders would keep her from taking 4 steps over to this bag to see if it had my name. But she seemed reluctant to look at this bag AND she came across TO ME as if she didn't believe I really had an order. I thought this was an odd attitude to take on. I walk into District Taco which is right next door ALL THE TIME and pickup to-go orders that I submitted on their website and all they ask when I walk up is...my name. They look for my name and give me my bag of food. I mean...is it really that difficult? Anyway, I finally brought up the order on my phone...she looked at it and then walked over to the bag and said, "Oh! This is your order." The same bag that I had originally told her was probably/maybe my order but she refused to look at. My full first name isn't common...and the receipt inside the bag had my full name CLEARLY printed. She had a piss poor attitude and I didn't appreciate it. I'm not saying I won't ever go back but it might be a while before I do. read more

The Sultan sandwich is delicious, but usually breaks apart and I eat it with a fork. The Rioti app is so-so, because it doesn't always work, but when it does you gain points for a free meal! This particular Roti is really great. Food is fresh, and the amount you get for the money is super (key for me, since I like a lunch that fills me up). The service is STELLAR - the team is clearly cohesive and everyone is cheery and efficient, and they get you through the line super quickly which is also key when hustling between meetings at work. The manager always does rounds and checks on customers to make sure everything is up to snuff. Also, while I super miss their eggplant topping, the new quinoa/cauliflower tabbouleh rocks -- so I've made my peace with that :) read more

Worst service ever! This location is terribly managed. Lunch crows are huge yet they fail to prepare. Their bread was still frozen and in a box on top of the counter at 12 noon and the line was out the door. The team members in the service line had no clue about the sauces (even though they are labeled for the customers). Just poor training and attitude all around. Will not be back. read more

On a recent trip to Washington DC, a friend and I were wandering around the Smithsonian park when we realized there aren't actually that many restaurants around the Smithsonian except for a few "Refreshments" stands and the cafeterias of the various museums. We were hangry so we hopped on the Metro and got off at Metro Center and holy crap there are so many places to eat! You can try the tiny bistros or the shamelessly delicious chicken nuggets but we wanted to feel adventurous and eat somewhere new to us. A block from the Metro stop, we spotted the bright sign that is Roti Modern Mediterranean and headed straight for it. Unfortunately, it was lunch time and the line was quite long; at least 30 people were in front of us in line and it didn't look like there was anywhere to sit anyway. But we resisted the urge to burst into hangry tears and calmly got in line. Roti graciously provides menus for those so far back in line that they can hardly see the menu so we got to work deciding what to have for lunch. The basic concept is that you pick a sandwich, a salad or a rice bowl, pick your protein and pick your toppings. I went with a salad and salmon (Fridays during lent FTW!) but they also had lamb, chicken, beef and falafel. The BEST part about this place is that you can literally get as many toppings as you like. Literally, double of everything if you want. They have sauces and pickles and relishes and mixed veggies and couscous and omg I can't even remember but I loaded my plate up. It is similar to subway/chipotle/ etc where you tell them what you want and they put it on for you and they didn't seem to get super annoyed when I asked for a bit more. They finish it off with a warm piece of bread and shoo you to the register where you pay about $10 for this gigantic meal and holy crap I was so excited to eat! After paying, we found a seat by the window and went to town! The salad did not disappoint; it was probably the best meal that I had all weekend. There was so much food and it was all fresh and flavorful and I was stuffed without feeling like I was going to throw up or be suffering from indigestion at any second. The only part that was a little off-putting was the rushed nature of the entire ordering process. The restaurant was packed and they have at least 10 people behind the counter preparing your meal in a line and I felt like I was so rushed and if I made a mistake or asked a question I would be scolded! The staff were very helpful and professional but it was the least friendly dining experience I can remember. It looked like they have an order ahead, grab and go setup there so I would probably consider doing that on my next visit. Overall, if I ever see one of these restaurants ever again (it looks like it is a chain) I will go out of my way and drop everything to try it again. read more

My first time at a Roti. Awesome. If you like Chipotle, you will love Roti. We need one in Chapel Hill!

Went there with a friend around 8pm. This place is like Chipotle, except 10x better and with 100x more interesting food. Their salads are perfect for the health conscious or those training/running. I got a salmon salad and the funny guy behind the counter told me I could have ALL the topping I wanted. So I had them ALL. Yeah that's how I do (as long as carbs aren't involved). Toppings include - Hummus, Feta, cabbage/carrots, eggplants, and more stuff. The guy also warmed up a side pita bread for me and then he tried giving me two and insisted it would be no extra. I refused, sadly, as I informed my new friend that too many carbs late at night was a bad idea. I wish these restaurants were as abundant as Chipotle. Their food is much better and their prices are also very reasonable. read more
