I ordered a " grazing plate " at $30 for 3 people to nibble on while quaffing a bottle of Tinja Pinot @ $22. It was served quickly with no waiting time. The plate was expensive considering the small serves of sliced apple , mixed salad leaf, chutney, pastrami , baby olives, goats cheese, olive oil for dipping and a small loaf of bread.But is was tasty and complimented the wine . ( Some slices of Jalsberg or vintage cheese would have made the plate more appealing and given a bit more value). Our bottle of Tinja Pinot was very drinkable. The out door dinning setting of this winery is outstanding with an expansive view looking out across the valley. Rustic tables were made of big slabs of gum tree timber . The staff were pleasant and attentive. The wine tasting bar was packed and doing great trade . Was it just the glorious winters day with blue sky and chill in the air combined with laughter and lots of talking which made this a memorable occasion where I didnt have a care in the world ? Pretty comprehensive drinks list and although the food is fairly simple it comes out fast, is fresh, and reasonably priced if you're sharing between a few people. I'd never tried a cheeseburger spring roll but they're basically all the ingredients of a cheeseburger in a deep fried roll - yum! Between this place and Empty Lane up the road the hills are starting to get some decent places to have a drink at.

Grape vines span the space between the two buildings creating a cool, shaded area in between. The place has a real rustic feel to it and its obviously popular with the locals as it fills up every lunchtime. They do a great Reuben sandwich which oozes out what I swear is a homemade version of McDonalds big mac sauce. One of the best I've had for sure. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor area with water bowls spread around and a few pooches also enjoying a break from the heat on the day I was there. They're only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday night which is a shame as it would be a great dinner venue during the week.

Salt and pepper calamari was the worst I've ever had -- enormous rings with no salt or pepper. The one highlight was the garlic prawns which were well seasoned and tasty. The last dish we tried were the beef skewers - unseasoned mince on skewers with the same salad we'd seen twice before -- mixed leaves with a balsamic glaze. Unless someone gives the food some taste and oomph this great opportunity for a longed-for wine bar in Beecroft will slip away.

Non-function meals at the bistro are OK, though I would recommend choosing the house specialty dishes to get a consistent picture of what this place wants to feature.
