This is a two-parter venue - one door to the takeaway, and another right beside it to the sit-down restaurant (sometimes referred to as Rice & Ice).
We recently decided to spend some time there on a Saturday night, as we were in the mood for a BYO night out and armed with a bottle of Spanish Malbec. The restaurant had space for the two of us, and charged only $2pp corkage. BTW, they are licensed, but the drinks list on the night was handwritten and due for a change, so we didn't check out their offerings.
In keeping with the relaxed and unpretentious nature of Mudgee nightlife, our orders are taken out to, and delivered from, the kitchen located outside the back door. What came back was both hot and delicious, and well presented on designer plateware. It's obvious that the staff prefers to serve up their best dishes for eat-in diners as it allows some showcasing that otherwise can't be delivered in a takeaway container.
Prawn dumplings were soft and sticky, and the large side of garlic rice was plentiful to accompany our mains of BBQ duck and crispy chicken. On a hot night, the restaurant was air-conditioned, and you can ask for it to be adjusted if it helps make you more comfortable. read more
