This was my last minute stop before leaving vacation. It's a pretty neat old school vibe with decent selection all around. My first thought was like a cross between Red Apple (near Seattle) and any ol' Albertsons with a cheeky simple 70's facade. I've really come to like Roth's. They are the slightly fancier sister to your average neighborhood grocery store. They have all the basics, sure, but really shine with some local and specialty goods. This is a really cute location, much smaller than normal, with an accordingly limited selection. Still, you're likely to find what you need, and I just adore the 70's storefront exterior that they've maintained. They have a great produce section, deli, and little bakery. I recently had an issue where I was overcharged and didn't realize until I got home. It wasn't a lot, but it just bugged me, so I emailed their customer service. Within just a few hours that same day they had responded and offered a totally reasonable solution. I am consistently impressed with their excellent customer service, and this was just another example of it. read more

Worst donuts in town. Roth's has been known for having the best donuts for years. In the last year they have gone downhill considerably. Today was the last straw. The filling was some cheap fluff that tasted artificial. One had a very burnt taste that came from the inside. The donuts looked great but were not worth eating. I returned them for a refund. We have been in the neighborhood for 35 years and will Not be buying donuts here ever again. read more

Came by on a short visit to town on an overcast Sunday around 12 noon. Dropped in for a quick something because we haven't had any food yet that day and grab a couple of donuts and an iced tea. This is a very nice small but well-stocked family grocery store the kind that you would like to have in your neighborhood. Everyone is friendly and helpful and I certainly would come back. read more

Over priced. Also miss labeled prices on products. I would recommend finding somewhere else to shop.

*****HEALTH WARNING***** While the doughnuts here seem safe to consume, pay very close attention to the apple fritters and bear claws!!! My girlfriend loves the apple fritters and has been getting them for a long time. NO MORE! They have been serving them RAW for at least the last 3 months. We come to this bakery almost every other weekend, but today was the final time. We've told them about this issue 4 TIMES! Yes, it was stupid of us to go back 3 more times after experiencing it the first time, but we were hoping they would get things turned around because at one time they were very good. But at this point it's a legitimate health concern. We definitely won't be back here and I highly recommend for your family's safety that you don't either. The store isn't bad. Nice selection and placement. Despite the Covid 19 shortage, I will still able to find flour for the first time in weeks. I gave this store a 1 star because I used the bathroom- no toilet paper. Okay that happens, but NO SOAP? How are the employees washing their hands, let alone customers? Gross. read more

This is an older and smaller store compared to many of the other Roth's in the area. Oddly enough they carry some items that the larger one on Portland Road didn't so I would come in here to get it. But now the Portland Road one carries it as well so I don't go here as much. Service has always been good, nothing to complain about. read more

Lancaster store. Best of the Roths stores. Their salad bar is always fresh clean and awesome, way better that the stinking store in west Salem or even the McMinnville store. I hope they do not do the crappy upchange to californication that the west Roths has done. A little upgrade would be ok but not the crappy West Salem store way. I hate that store. Used to go there all the time won't go ever again. If I wanted a californication I'd move down to the crappy place why bring it into Oregon with all the gropies that have come from Californication along with all the wine creepoids? read more

Older Roth's store, in rather serious need of some updates/renovations. Service is always superb, however, which bumps them up a star. Small store and small selection, good for picking up basics, whole bean coffee doesn't appear to have a good turnover rate so it tends to look very dried out and oxidized in the bins. Not a huge selection of meats and cheeses in the deli. It is close to home and I the big chain store on Center St. isn't any better so I will always opt to support a local business first. Would be great if they ever did a renovation to make it more like PCC in Seattle where I used to shop when I lived there. read more

As far as meat and produce go, Roths is the best. I alwaus check here for my meat and produce before going anywhere else. Check out the Porketta in the meat section. It is to die for. read more

WOW this small town feel of a store hit the jack pot with me. I needed a fondant cake and Grace the bakers right hand took my order and hand held me all the way. The cake tasted fresh and the filling was light and not to sweet. Every one at the baby shower raved. I was born in Salem and as far back as I remember this grocery store has always been there. Have noticed a severe decline in service the past few months, a lot of out dated products, and not very friendly employees.

Urban decay is what you get in this neighborhood and this market. A modest selection of high priced "goods", prices here are 25% higher than Safeway or Fred Meyer and the meat cases smell like death. This store exists primarily to rake peoples food stamp money and pump out the wine and beer to an impoverished community. read more

I love this store. It's truly a neighborhood market that serves the people who shop there. No, it doesn't have an olive bar or a sushi bar or a fancy gift shop like some of the other Roth's, because no one would buy that stuff in this neighborhood. The store is clean, the employees friendly, and the variety of food they carry is perfect for its location. read more

worst supermarket in Salem -- HAND'S DOWN. i will never go back to this location. super bad variety. no selection of specialty anything. can't find anything else, due to the store's size. ugh ugh ugh. there is absolutely NO POINT to this location. it makes the Center St. Safeway look like Whole Foods in comparison! read more
