Love the atmosphere, the food was good, economic prices, and the staff was nice. *One complaint* I paid with a credit card. Saturday 2:04pm, May 30. You pay your tab at the register in the front of the diner. When I was asked if I wanted to add a tip to the card amount I said "yes please add 15%." The lady at the register told me that she could "only put in whole numbers" for the tip amount so I had to tip 20% or 10%. Really? No, seriously,...really?? Sigh. There's something super comforting about a no frills diner. Served on beige plastic and boasting extremely reasonable prices, what you order at Ross' Diner is exactly what you get - and that's a good thing. My omelet was hard cooked perfectly, the hash browns were nice and crispy and the tea nice and cold. The service was prompt despite the counter being full and I appreciated the friendly banter. My better half and I completed business at a warehouse in Cartersville and finished in the early afternoon. I had seen reviews about Ross's Diner on Yelp so I suggested we try this diner for lunch. The diner is located in an older building a few blocks off Main St. there is ample parking in front of the restaurant. Upon entry into the diner you are propelled back in time to a classic diner from the '50s. They have only counter seating in a U shaped countertop. The wait staff quickly greeted us and asked for our drink orders. We were presented with menus and gazed at all the breakfast and lunch offerings. My better half ordered the chili dog and chili burger plate. I ordered the Steak & Gravy plate with pinto beans and turnip greens. It includes a homemade biscuit. Both of our meals were delicious diner food. While sitting at the counter, we observed that the wait staff knew the orders for most of the guests who came in after us. The majority of the diners were frequent restaurant guests and likely Cartersville locals. This was an amazing experience to behold because it is rarely encountered in today's world. The great thing was that the staff was friendly and very attentive to us. I returned a few days later and had an early breakfast that was equally good food and service. This is a nostalgic little joint that brings you back to the counter-style diners of the 40's and 50's (yes this diner opened in the mid-40's!). The staff are all stable folk who are local, and many locals come in to eat here because it's a favorite breakfast spot in Cartersville, including for me. It's a very basic menu (breakfast and lunch menu and breakfast/lunch hours only). If you just want an order of eggs, bacon/ham, grits and toast or maybe some biscuits and gravy, pancakes, hamburgers, etc then you'll be in heaven. Service is awesome, food is basic and good, no frills, just good solid food at a reasonable price. Location is awesome, parking is plentiful and they have a few tables outside to sit on the sidewalk and listen to the sounds of downtown city center. Highly recommend for your breakfast and lunch! If you want to eat a piece of History this is the place. Went on a Saturday afternoon the Diner was extremely busy the service was exceptional and the staff great attitudes. Please don't never change!! Ross's is a true blast from the past that has maintained its heritage. A small spot with all counter seating and old-timey feel. Surrounded by revitalized businesses, it's a cool area but hope they never get squeezed out. Lovingly run by family, it feels like you're a member too! Very reasonable prices for delicious classic foods. We had the egg sandwich, sloppy Joe's with fries. Simple but tasty all. AND there was free cake on valentines day! That was excellent too! Thanks gals! I almost went for the fried bologna sandwich -haven't had one since I was a kid. Next time. We're passing through, but definitely would return. read more

Tiny little place on the corner of a store strip that has been around for more than 72 years! No tables inside, just counter seating on stools. Food choices were typical. The fried shrimp/fries were served very hot and fresh. We weren't fans of the finely ground coleslaw. Appeared to be clean. Prices were average. OMG WOW even though I did the research for my road trip I had no idea of how awesome of place this is. This diner opened in 1945 and is basically unchanged with the same menu, how cool is that. The current owner was super friendly and I'm not going to tell the story of the diner but I will post a picture of an article about her and the diner. You talk about blast from the past old school diner, this is it with chrome wall heater, gum ball stand, fortune scale, U shaped counter with stools, wooden filter less cigarette holder that modern cigarette will not fit in. The floor behind the counter is a wooden plank pallet floating style, never seen that before. There is a working pay phone in the coroner that has a cute story, a kid asked how do you text with that thing. Joan the owner waited on us and very informative about the place so I told her I'm torn with the chili cheese burger or the country steak with gravy so she brings me a sample of the country steak to try, how cool is that but I went with the chili burger. Most everything is home made in house from the burgers, gravy to the chili. I dragged my parents here for lunch and surprisingly we all ordered a cheeseburger of some kind. My chili cheese burger looked great with a thick non commercial patty cooked to super well, dam I was distracted by the place and forgot to ask for rare. The chili cheese burger really hit the spot and was good with the mustard and onions smothered in tasty chili. Joan brought all of us a piece of red velvet cake, she says lunch comes with the cake but it's not made in house. Overall the menu has nice diner options and it's priced very reasonable for home made food to my surprise. Simple but cooked to perfection.. the food here is about as simple as you can get no fancy plating just good food done right. The breakfast is so cheap around $5 a plate is more than enough food. Entering Cartersville's Ross's Diner takes you back in time to a depression era greasy spoon. And with the train tracks just a few yards away, I felt like a Hobo sopping up Eggs, downing a cup of Joe, before hopping a South bound for Jacksonville. The eggs were good, and although the hash browns were underdone they were still edible. The unleavened wafer thin biscuits reminded me of Air Hockey pucks only saved by the decent flavored Gravy. Apparently speed is priority here as judging from my plates and silverware they are only washed on odd numbered days (see grease spots on plates and the fork had a gritty feel in my mouth). read more

Only been here a couple of times but has been a good experience. Nice little old fashioned dinner. Service was great. I had a birthday recently and treated myself to a burger and fries which were very good. I mentioned it was my birthday and they all sang happy birthday to me. This was a big deal as I am alone with no family or friends and wasn't feeling very happy that day (maybe a little self-pity going on) but it cheered me up. And they also gave me the meal for free.
